I'm thinking of moving from iPhone to HTC Desire but unlike many people I actually like iTunes and while I appreciate I can get music from other sites (Amazon etc) I can't find anywhere where I can download music VIDEOS from to then copy to phone (note - download, not stream).

Are there any legal sites where I download market content? reason I ask his, I can't find some things on the market... I assume its a compatability issue but if I do it illegally they work on my wildfire. so if I want to do it legally how can I? or am I going to have to stick with illegals if I want the apps I do?

View 3 Replies View Relatedmy testers on Droids and Nexus Ones (Android 2.0.1 and 2.1) were complaining that their downloads are failing. Since I don't have an 2.0 phone, I tried it out in a 2.0 emulator, and lo-and-behold, it didn't work. The download shows the indeterminate progress for a second or two, then shows "Download unsuccessful".
Based on what I see in the logs, it is apparent that the server is returning a 404 for the download request from 2.0 browsers. I can download to my desktop and 1.6 phone no problem. The only reason I can think of that the server would return a 404 for a request is that for some reason the credentials or cookies aren't being passed by the download process. Logcat shows: http error 404 for download x.......
Does anyone know when their beta will re-open so we can download it? Or is their a way to download the file while bypassing their official site?

I've stepped through it multiple times and the thread is called and completely runs to completion before hitting updateUI.start(). Calling updateUI.run() avoids the error but causes the thread to run in the UI thread (the calling thread, as mentioned in other posts on SO), which is not what I want. Can a Thread be started only once? If so than what do I do if I want to run the thread again? This particular thread is doing some calculation in the background, if I don't do it in the thread than it's done in the UI thread and the user has an unreasonably long wait.

For music:
I'm really just looking for a better interface app. i don't like the way browsing works on the stock app. i hate how it doesn't "remove" a song from the list when i'm going thru shuffle mode. i'll come across the same song multiple times.
And i've tried Cubed, and it's a little better. but one thing that both apps do, is they include video files.
even tho the video doesn't play, the audio still does, and it's really annoying to all of a sudden hear a video start playing.
For video:
I would rather not have the app play codecs or anything, if it could just play the standard file types already accepted. but i can browse through the videos easier than using Gallery or Photos, or even Astro, that would be great.
Here is a cool trick to save videos to your G1.If you use firefox web browser you will need to download a plugin called download helper.Now you go to youtube and find a video you like.then wait for it to load.then when you select download helper in the top right corner you select from dropdown menu the file name of video followed by .flv.when you download the .flv file then i use xvidforpsp and convert the .flv to mp4 ot h.264 and then copy it to the G1 memory card and tada you just saved the youtube video for playback to your G1 to play at anytime and save without having to find it again.
