My application has a custom view which contains other custom views of a different type. The subviews have their own click listeners (which I can't change, as these are in 3rd party libraries). How can I intercept a user's click at the level of my view to do some processing, and then pass the click on to the proper subview?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using data to build elements of a ViewGroup. The ViewGroup are LinearLayouts, except the leaves, which are TextViews. Because Data draws the hierarchy, I inflate the LinearLayouts and TextViews from individual XML files programatically on the fly.
My Problem:
When I create a LinearLayout with the attribute wrap_content, then inflate a TextView or other LinearLayout into it, I can't get the parents (or enough of them, anyway) to redraw, respecting the new view. These LinearLayouts always seem to come out at 0 size, because when they are first created (before their children are inflated), they wrap around nothing. I've tried calling some stock methods of ViewGroup but nothing seems to work.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'd love to prevent hardware buttons from working while user runs my app. Perfectly all of them, but any number would help :) I am not sure it's doable but maybe I miss something, hence my question. For those wondering - "why?" - we got an app that does full screen colorful animation and users often run it and hand the phone to their babies as they can stare at it for hours :) but the problem is, kids accidentally press hardware buttons (usually camera trigger, but also Home or Search - depending on the device model). I'd love to add the option to block all keys beside one which can hardly be pressed accidentally.

- make a log of all the other apps, including stock ones, that make attempts or actual connections to the internet, and at what time
- be able to intercept those connections
- preferably I would create a white list of apps that are allowed to connect, but others do not have permission.
Purposes include:
- saving on bandwidth in poorer countries where internet is expensive.
- making sure apps or malware doesn't try to send off my data when it shouldn't be.
- prevent annoying background sync/apps from running when I don't want them
I find it strange that we either give all the permissions the app wants, or it doesn't work. Why can't we restrict their internet access?
Does this sound feasible? Does it already exist?

Even registering the broadcast receiver at the highest priority still fails to receive the Bluetooth media button events on the HTC Hero phone. The Bluetooth media button registration code works fine on the other Android phones that I have tested. Apparently this isn't the first time HTC has done something like this, as I also found a report of a similar problem on one of the HTC Microsoft Mobile Devices reported here
It seems extremely short sighted of HTC to code their media player so that it grabs the Bluetooth AVRCP media button events in such a way that other applications are unable to work with the Bluetooth head phone buttons and Bluetooth in car stereo systems.................
i'm looking to get called when the user taps on any part of a map view and i'm having no luck so far. none of these produces as much as a peep when the map view is clicked.i did some googling and found the thread.which suggests that overriding mapView.onTouchEvent() works, though calling setOnTouchListener() doesn't. however, onTouchEvent() didn't work for me.

So I decided to have scrollview and table into it. I set the view using setcontentview which shows loading dialog. then in aysnc task's "doInBackground" method i fetch all articles into the object and then in "onPostExecute" I run a for loop on the object and in each loop i make table row insert article and then insert row into table. and then dismiss loading dialog box.
As i have tabular view in my app and If i remove loading dialog box. While the UI is rendered if someone clicks on other tab. UI is hanged up, After loading all table rows It goes to other tab.
I have an app widget which runs neatly. However, I am unable to highlight a click on a linked item. I've seen it in the standard app widgets like 'Music' and 'Power Control', for instance. Moreover, I've also been studying the Music app widget's source at album_appwidget.xml. The only thing I could think of is the LinearLayout defined at lines 23-35 which states android:clickable="true".Unfortunately, this does not work for me. But the OnClickListener is behaving wierdly - I touch the EditText and then software keyboard appears (which I don't want). When the LinearLayout is shown, I want to detect if the user clicks anywhere outside of the panel so that I can hide it again. Is there a way to do this, maybe with detecting focus changes? I've tried to add an OnFocusChangeListener to the LinearLayout itself (and called setFocusable(true) on it), but the focus change listener never gets called. View 5 Replies View RelatedIf I go into the sounds and display and select my ringer its loud enough that I put the overall ringtone volume at one notch before the max. The weirdness starts when someone actually calls me. When I get a phone call the ringer sounds like its about half volume, so after the call I go an check and its still one notch from max. Now even weirder is all the clicks and noises throughout android are even quieter. The only way to make them as loud as they should be again seems to be opening voice to text then everything is the volume it should be. I don't have quiet ringtone when picked up turned on, and all my volumes are adjusted right.
