Dec 29, 2012OK, new to Droid, moved over from Windows Phone. I've got a nice account setup already with SkyDrive along now with the Samsung Cloud thing and Dropbox. For some reason, DropBox has not upgraded me to the larger size account like they should have after I registered my new Note2 device and did all the other things they say you have to do in order to get granted the larger file allotment.
So, anyway, I have a 25gb account already setup with Skydrive and have quite a few files on there that I use regularly. I have a couple of the browsers on my phone and they work well to gain access to the files and such. What I really want is to actually add SkyDrive to my Cloud. When I go to Settings, Cloud, it shows Samsung and Dropbox, but does not give me any option to install or gain access to Skydrive. Is there some way I can install this on my phone and get the system to recognize it as another option for my Cloud services?

When user clicks on my app icon first splash screen is displayed and then player screen When player activity is running, if user returns to the home screen and then again clicks on app icon, the application is starting from the splash screen again.can any one please help me out how to do any one of below
1) I need to close current running activity and reload application.or
2) I need to resume to the player screen directly.Please give me an example or reference to follow, Im beginner in android programing.
HTC Hero :: Cant Lock Screen With One / Two Clicks?
Aug 10, 2010After the 2.1 update the bit on spare parts that (in my case) took me to the home screen with one press of the end call button then locks the screen with another has gone, i honestly never knew how much i used that feature and i am now annoyed i cant lock the screen with one or two clicks, does anyone know how i can get this feature back? also does anyone agree that the signal strength and battery life have diminished since the 2.1 update?.

Nov 21, 2010I love SetCPU but I've noticed it's slow to recognize when the screen is on. My default setting is 1100/800 (on demand) and my screen off setting is 250/250 (on demand). Whenever I turn my screen on and it's been off for a little bit it's always at 250, even a minute later.What's more surprising is I'll go into the profiles, turn off the "screen off" profile, and it'll jump up to 1100. However, when I enable the profile, it goes back to 250, all while the screen is on.Any idea if this is something I can fix? I've tried making the "screen off" profile to 550/250 to shorten the gap but it didn't do anything.

Oct 22, 2010I have an app which runs as a background service only. I'l like it to start up when its installed. As its just a background service it doesnt show up on the pane of installed apps. So there is no way for the user to manually start it. I've already regietered for the BOOT_COMPLETED intent which works but I dont want the user to have to power off the phone after the app has been installed, just so as they can start it.
I've looked at the following intents: ACTION_PACKAGE_ADDED/CHANGED/ REPLACED/RESTARTED/INSTALL, ACTION_SCREEN_ON/OFF, ACTION_USER_PRESENT, ACTION_TIME_TICK,
But it doesnt seem that you can register to listen for them from my manifest.

Jul 6, 2009I'm writing an application that consists of a background Service and one or several Activities acting as UI towards this. There will most likely be several different UIs for this service that will installed later on, like custom widgets or UIs. The question is how to solve this in the most efficient way. Is it better to only use Intents for communication between UI and Service (sending control commands with Intents from the UI and listening for Intents from the Service for state and data updates) or should I prefer using IPC communication (AIDL -> Java Stub, binding to the service etc.)?
Since the UI might be started long after the service is started, I would either need to use sticky intents to signal current state, or have a very frequent intent sent by the service if choose to go with the Intent-based design. Which one would be the preferred way in that case? I've read that sticky intents are much more resource consuming than normal intents, but are intents more consuming than IPC directly towards the service? Also, is really an AIDL the right way to allow third-party integration? Intents sounds better, since they are also asynchronous.

Jun 25, 2010I'd like to include a feature in my application that would include a running background service that would disable SMS, if certain conditions were met (location for instance). Is there a way I can intercept the user wanting to open any SMS app and block it? Would a Broadcast Receiver be able to do the trick? Maybe a different way to go about this?

Mar 17, 2010I am aware my issue is against the philosophy of Android, but I have no choice, this application will run on a embedded car gps and I need to bring an activity to prevent from car accident, for example, when it's happen around the user. I have to put other activity on the back and bring my alert pop up without user manipulation like notification on the front. Is there a way to bring manually an activity to the front, by resuming it like when you click on the android task switcher?
