Android :: ImageView Class Initialization

I want to initialize ImageView class in Class which do not extends View.
CODE:........................
I've done changes in an Android native library and installed a new system.img file but am now getting an unrelated Error on startup. I can get past it by swallowing the error but I wanted to know if anyone can explain what the issue is.
The Android implementation of Logger.java claims that it is Forcing the LogManager to be initialized since its class init code performs necessary one-time setup. But this forced initialization results in a NoClassDefFoundError. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the class not having been preloaded by Zygote yet but am not that familiar with the whole class loaders and VM business.

Is it possible to place an imageView in a class that extends View in android?
If possible please give me a sample code.
When I type ImageView or AnimationDrawable I get a string of errors proclaiming:
AnimationDrawable cannot be resolved to a type.
line 14 Java Problem
I don't understand, do I need to create another class? Or do the AnimationDrawables just not go in the filename.java?
And if I do need to create another class, can you show me how?
I have next situation: After installing application it has to init settings from server. And while it is not has right preferences it has to wait. I have several receivers and service - I don't want to check for initialization in every action in these components - I think there have to be better solution.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have searched the forum for GPS but find nothing so I am posting here, move if the wrong place. I have a VZ Droid and find that the phone service has to be turned on before the GPS will find any satellites. The fix will continue to hold if I switch to Air mode so the phone is not needed after initialization.
Google has been good enough to give us European maps but if a phone service is needed to initialize the GPS the location function etc will not work in Europe. I had planed on taking the Droid to Italy next year but it looks as if it will be useless. Any workaround or is my phone "broken"?
Trying to code a simple Live wallpaper for android. I'm having trouble finding out how to capture the screen size at initialization.Any thoughts on how I might can accomplish this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with a tab view on android. I am using 4 xml layout files (each a RelativeLayout) as the content for tabs in a tab view. The main.xml contains: TabHost (@android:id/tabhost) containing a linearLayout which contains a TabWidget (@android:id/tabs) and a FrameLayout (@android:id/tabcontent). If I embeded the multiple one after another in the in the main.xml everything works fine (except my main.xml is unmaintainable which is the problem I want to solve by splitting the files into a simple main.xml which defines the tab and the content frame and then push the views onto this). The code I have to inflate and insert the 4 RelativeLayout xml files into the tab content is as follows:
mTabHost = getTabHost(); View wv = null;
wv = LayoutInflater.from(this).inflate(R.layout.user_tab, mTabHost.getTabContentView(), true);
mTabHost.addTab(mTabHost.newTabSpec("User").setIndicator("User").setContent(wv.getId()));
wv = LayoutInflater.from(this).inflate(R.layout.track_tab, mTabHost.getTabContentView(), true);
mTabHost.addTab(mTabHost.newTabSpec("Track").setIndicator("Track").setContent(wv.getId()));
wv = LayoutInflater.from(this).inflate(R.layout.chart_tab, mTabHost.getTabContentView(), true);
mTabHost.addTab(mTabHost.newTabSpec("Chart").setIndicator("Chart").setContent(wv.getId()));
// And so on for the multiple tabs.
When I run this the first tab (User) is empty and the remaining tabs have all the content from all the views. So tab2 has the content from tab1-4, tab3 has the content from tab1-4 and tab4 has the content from tab1-4. Returning to tab1 it then has all the content from tab1-4 now. The code works just fine, the events on the various objects in the views etc all are good. It is just that they are all muddled together in the view. What is causing this and how to correct it?
I am trying to make the use of Network location provider to get the location updates, But it seems to be that Network location provider makes use of MASF client . From the debug statements we found that Network provider does seems to launch MASF client , Would some one explain me the basic sequence of initialization of Network service provider ? and if MASF client is not getting initialized do we need to do some settings. What do i need to check .Any information on this is Highly appreciated.

In my app i need to read the data at a content provider before the system actually initializes. Probably what i understand is that a boot complete intent would launch a homescreen activity.Exactly before the system initialized i want to see the data provided by the content provider and use it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've implemented a spinner with an OnItemSelectedListener event handler. When I initialize the spinner and when a user makes a selection the even handler gets called. What I need is to determine when a user makes a selection. Is there a way to determine in the OnItemSelectedListener whether the event was triggered because of data initialization, or because of a user selection? Am I going down the wrong path trying to do this with the OnItemSelectedListener? Is there a better way to to capture a user selection event on a spinner control?

So I tried the update my phone and I got an error message.It says: "DM initialisation is not ready. Check network or sim card." Anyone got this message before?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm just getting into Android development, and I have a question about communicating between a receiver class and an activity class. I'm very new to JAVA and Android so I hope I don't sound too stupid. I'm developing an application where I intercept an SMS message and then based on various elements of that SMS I might delete it once it's been saved to the inbox. I have a receiver class that intercepts the txt message, and I am also able to delete messages from my inbox with code in the activity class using a button at the moment. The problem I have is communicating between the receiver class and the activity class where the code to delete a message resides. I tried putting that code directly into the receiver class but as I'm sure most of you already know the BroadcastReceiver class doesn't seem to support what I need to delete messages. I've been searching for an answer to this for a while, but haven't been able to find anything. Honestly I'm not sure I know enough about JAVA and Android to even recognize a solution if I saw it.

I'm new to Java and android development. In my application I need data which is accessible for a few activities. I've read that a good solution is to use Application class for this. So I use it like this:
public class MyApplication extends Application {
private String str;
public String getStr(){
return str;
}
public void setStr(String s){
str = s;
}
}
and I can access this variable from activity like this:........................................

After finishing the page I want to execute a thread which will get the reference of all the rows then will extract imgeview and set resource image as lazy loading image.
I just want to know how to get every row's image view so that I can set image resource in it.
So here is my question. I am trying to use an online thumbnail. I can have looked around and have not found too much data on this. Can some provide me the simplest way to do this. Also If i implement a simpleExpandableListAdapter which is designed as a textView Adapter is there a way to force the image in?
