I'd like to know how to update SDK or Applications through OTA? Does Android support the update mechanism ? If not, an operator or a device manufacturer adds the functionality for software update? I guess 'com.android.updater' package may have something to do with SDK update, but I'm not sure.

I wonder if there is a way to auto update all my applications. I take too much time go to marked, downloads and manually update 1 by 1..

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is just my handset(s) but I have never received a notification to let me know an app has an update.Initially I thought it could be something to do with the HTC Hero I owned but now i've upgraded to the HTC Desire I still do not receive them.As default the "Notify me when items are updated" box is ticked so there isn't a problem there.

I flashed a new rom, but that deletes all of my apps so I used My Backup Pro to get all my apps back, but that doesn't add them back to the "My Downloads" part of the Market. Is there any automated way that I can add them back without having to go through them one by one. I don't mind paying for an app.
When I bring up the apps tab none of them were listed. I uninstalled/reinstalled PandaHome, and now most of them are listed, but some are still missing. Also, when I bring up the tab the little bar that ran across the bottom to select letter to sort the list by disappears before you can even attempt to use it.

Does the app check daily and if an update is found (and provided it does not alter the permissions) apply it? Is it possible to alter the frequency that it checks?
I ask because I just opened up the Android Market and right as I did so it suddenly started updating half a dozen apps. Now that was fine, since they all had been given permission to auto-update, but I want to know if they only check for an update when the market is opened, or if it was just a coincidence.
Instead of banging on about WHEN the update is coming, I'm trying to be positive, soo, what apps is everyone looking forward to getting post-2.1?

That being said, with nearly every app I add, I am adding more time needed to update the phone. If I let it go for a few days it takes a lot of time having to click 2-3 times per app to update. Is there anything out that will allow me to update all apps that have newer versions with a single or at least fewer number of keypresses? I looked through past threads and saw some older ones but nothing recent on this issue.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEverything seemed perfect after I downloaded the update until the moment I turned on the stock music app. I use System Panel, and when I went to end the app it continued to play. I shut my phone down and re-booted only to find the problem still existed. I downloaded Advanced Task Killer with no luck. After a little bit of anguish over having to re-customize my phone I decided to do a Factory Data Reset. Still no luck! I spoke with a tech over at VZW and both reps I spoke with were completely baffled. They said since it's an HTC built app that they would have to fix the issue and to give it a couple of days.

As a past iPhone user, when a new OS update would come out, a lot of apps would need to be updated. Is this the same case with Android? or should I wait? View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having an issue with apps on my phone. Basically, over the past few days, I cant update apps from the marketplace at all. The market comes up tellling me there are new updates, when I go to download and install them, they all download fine, and then start installing, and then all of a sudden, it tells me installation was unsuccessful and nothing happens anymore. Its doing this for all apps I try to download from the market. Help would be much appreciated. Btw, I've got my phone set to install apps to mem card as default using the force apps to sd work around thing that was posted on the board.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPrior to the 2.2 update if I was streaming music (Pandora or similar) or listening to MP3's (HTC's music player) while I was using the Google Navigation feature to get somewhere, my music would fade out when Google Needed to give me driving instructions, then fade back up afterwards. This was a brilliant feature to me. Yesterday, I found myself using music and navigation for the first time since my late Friday 2.2 update. Now, it appears I have to choose what I want to hear. If music is playing and the navigation needs to give me instructions, it just stops the music altogether - it doesn't start back. OR I can mute the navigation instructions and just listen to the music. But they are working together the way they used to. I haven't received a phone call while playing/streaming music to see if this issue goes with that too. I'll check it at home tonight and see and report back.

I didnīt noticed if this happens to 1.6 duo to the short usage of this droid version.
Every time i starts the camera application or any application that uses the camera (like Google goggles for example), the phone aparently crashes and suddenly reboot. After the reboot, the camera used to work for the first times but about aprox 30 min. or less that the phone has been rebooted, when i try to start the camera, the phone crashes and restarts again.
Iīve tried to Repair the phone in pc Companion software and the issue continues the same.
What good/great Non Market apps are you using? And do tell what they are, what they do and where to get the APKs. I am non rooted but forced 2.2 update.

I'm using these commands:
mv /system/app/PDFViewer.apk /system/app.disabled/
mv /system/app/NewsReader.apk /system/app.disabled/
mv /system/app/com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk /system/app.disabled/
Anyone been able to remove these two apps?
I've heard that somewhere in the market you can find the apps you've purchased and download them again. Still can't find that. Nor can I find any place that will show me a list of the free apps i had downloaded. not sure if the latter actually exists. Anyway, where do I go to find a list of my apps that have synced with google?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI asked my parents for a new phone, specifically a HTC Desire because I'm a gamer so obviously I wanted a phone with an awesome processor. But at the time of my birthday I got a HTC Wildfire (apparently the Desire was sold out at every store my dad went to). Now there's nothing wrong with the Wildfire. The battery life is great and it doesn't take to much space in my pocket but I felt a little bit disappointed when I checked out the market. The games I found were at the same level as the games I had on my old phone, a Sony Ericsson K550i. Also, when I checked Youtube and various other websites for game tips I couldn't find them. For example Buka, Robo Defense, ToonWarz, Speed Forge 3D etc etc. Is this because they are not available for the Wildfire because of the 589 mhz processor? If that is the case, will the maybe be available when the 2.2 update arrives (with the processor speed up)? Or do I need to download them from a specific site because all the games I find on the market are free.

I can't use a backup utility, because well, if I try to restore anytime recently, the same issue exists. I am completely confused as to what made this happen and how to fix it. I would rather not wipe the phone to factory defaults.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI would have thought that a firmware update via Kies would preserve user data, contacts, apps I paid for from the market, phone settings etc. But after going from I9000DXJF4 to I9000DXJG4 using that appalling excuse for software (Kies) I have a completely empty device with just stock standard apps. No warnings to click through about wiping data, no strange error messages on the device. Is this normal? If so I might as well put my SIM card back in my iPhone until there is a consensus build of Froyo out for the Galaxy S as re-downloading and resyncing everything each time.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy DroidX was working for the few days with no dead pixels on any of the menu screens, none on any of the software applications, and none on the Camera or Camcorder applications.
On Tuesday afternoon I downloaded and installed the DroidX 1.13.604 Software Update.
My DroidX now has some dead pixels that appear only in the Camera and Camcorder applications, and not in any of the other applications or menu items.
Since the dead pixels only occur in the Camera and Camcorder applications, could it be a software related bug or mayme something else?
is the current available update for Froyo the same update that Verizon is releasing today at 12:00 pm eastern? why should people wait till noon if its the same? also, if i want to set phone back to original settings and redownload all my apps from the market, do i need to manually set up all my email account settings again? and are all of my pictures that i have taken saved to the my SD card? so i should remove that card when resetting phone and put back into phone when done or can i leave it in phone and they should be fine during reflashing ?
