I have a Samsung vibrant. Somehow I turned on a switch that announces "one new email" every time new email arrives at my gmail account. Now I can't find the switch that turns it off! <g>.

1. Have you figured out how to turn specifically the Gmail sound notifications off? I don't need my phone yelling DROID everytime I get an email. Txt's, yes.
Email I can check up on my own time.
2. I copied over some video files using the mounted device on my pc. So how do I get to them to watch em? No internal video player outside youtube? Recommendations?
I don't know about anyone else, but I HATE the turn-by-turn directions voice in Google Navigation. I have a Moto Droid and the voice is practically unintelligible. As a die-hard Google devotee,I have faith that they will correct the problem if enough people tell them to. Surprisingly, I was not able to find this suggestion on their product suggestion forum, so I created one.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid for about a month and the Google Voice turn by turn naviagation has worked beautifully. Today, when I went to use it, I'm receiving directions...BUT I do not get turn by turn voice directions. The view of the map is from like an airplane, not the "over the shoulder" view like I used to get, and the voice part is totally gone (I've checked the volume and it's not that).I've tried powering the phone down/up, but doesn't help. I've called Verizon but they've told me they don't support this App.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe'll this is a deal breaker for me, after being pretty happy with the RUU update and the speed improvement it brought to the stock music player.When using the turn by turn navigation, every time the voice comes in the player puts itself on pause.After the instruction is over it remains paused instead of resuming.Then I have to manually hit play again to resume playback.This is a big deal while driving since I don't want to be fidgeting with my phone every couple seconds.This was not an issue with 2.1 , since as soon as the turn by turn instruction was gone the music would automatically resume.

I believe I want the Fascinate but this issue with Google Maps navigation is an issue since turn-by-turn navigation is a big feature for me. Does Bing Maps also offer turn-by-turn navigation as well? Is it voice assisted? Personally I don't care if it's Bing or Google but I don't want the Verizon one since it will require a monthly fee. As long as Bing Maps offers the same functionality as Google Maps, I'm fine.

It also works for multiple gmail accounts I believe.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a new HTC Incredible, my first smartphone. I'm really happy with it, but I've got this annoying Google Voice problem.
I've been using Google Voice for a few months, and I was excited to learn that Google Voice on Android now had push notifications (aka Inbox synchronization). I read that version 0.3.2 added this, and all should be well. I downloaded the Google Voice app yesterday (0.3.2), and Inbox synchronization is on, but I've had delays of about 5 minutes with every message until the phone beeps. Could anyone shed some light on this? I've got all mobile data stuff on, I'm connected to wifi, and it's even plugged into the wall charger charging.
My first question is about low battery notification. I would like turn off this popup which occurs when battery is low during my application is on. I can catch of course Intent.ACTION_BATTERY_LOW but additionaly Android show me this popup. Is it possible to turn it off? Second topic is about turning on bluetooth. When I turn it on using API system show me additional popup asking if I agree to turn on bluetooth module by this application. Is it possible to turn off this popup. I have HTC Legend on which popup occurs and my friend has Motorola Milestone on which it doesn't occur. So probably it's only in HTC Andoid implementation.

If I go to the Gmail app they are in there as unread but I'm not getting any kind of notification that I actually have new email unless I go in and manually check. Is anyone else having this problem or knows of a solution? This is getting to be an annoying problem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to skip 1 particular app update, or at least turn off the notification that this app update is available, but *not* lose other app update notifications. This isn't about email, sms, battery, or other notifications, only the notifications that app updates are available.
Specifically: Yelp just released an update that wants permission to view my phonebook. I don't see why they need that and don't want to give permission. The older version of Yelp did not seem to ask for this, and I'm happy w/ the app and prefer not to uninstall totally, just skip this particular update with the feature I don't like. (Appreciate your thoughts on that Yelp / privacy issue too, fwiw).
So, I want to get rid of the notification for this particular update. But, I don't want to turn off notifications when other apps have available updates. When I click on the notification, I have option to "update" or "uninstall." Neither is what I want, I want to "skip this update, keep app." The top bar icon goes away after I check, but it comes right back soon after, always w/ the Yelp update waiting there, sometimes w/ other updates for other apps too. How to get rid of the one I don't want, keep the others coming through?
I just got a Motorola Droid and I'm greatly pleased with it, but I'm having one minor problem with the Gmail app that's tedious and slightly annoying. I wanted to see if anyone else has the same problem and how you've fixed it. Whenever I get a new email, the notification appears properly. I click it, it takes me to the email. The notification stays there and does not go away like it should. I have to go back to the notification again and either clear notifications or access the email a second time. Any ideas as to why I'm getting two of the exact same notifications?

Up until today, whenever I got a text message it notified me through Google Voice app on my phone.The same thing with voicemails.But what happened today is that it isn't notifying me for some reason.To actually "receive" the text messages and voicemails through Voice, I have to go into Google Voice app and hit "refresh".Under "sync and notifications" for settings in Voice, I have "synchronize inbox" checked as well as "inbox notifications" so that I'm notified in the status bar when new items arrive.And like I said, up until today it was working flawlessly, but now I have to hit "refresh" to receive them in Voice.

At the same time, my google talk client notifies me that I have a new gmail message, so I figure the phone notification is for that email. I check the email via gmail on my desktop and I now have no new emails, but the notification on my phone remains. Is there anyway to have this notification disappear once I've checked the email anywhere except the android gmail application? I have the same problem with my work email with the email client, too, and it's a little annoying.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is driving me crazy. How do I clear voice mail notifications? Let me explain what I do. Of course the first thing is listening to the voice mail. Then I delete it. The notification is still there. When I open the notifications area I see voice mail pending. It's the same voice mail that I already listened and deleted. I click the voice mail icon and it tells me there is no voice mail. Then I go to settings, calls, and there is an option to clear voice mail notification, but is grayed. I can't do anything there. The only thing I can do is turn the phone off and back on. That is the only way I can clear the notifications area. There should be a better way. Anyone has the same problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to get gmail email notifications instantly when they arrive now I get them only with 1-2 hours delay. Basically I get the notification of a new email faster than the browser version on my pc refreshes (dunno how often it does it maybe once every 10-20 secs). This has been going on for 2 days now. I will get the notification eventually of a new email if I don't mark them as read but just before it was within seconds now it's within hours of the new email arriving. The problem is gmail gets into sync loop I'm assuming this is a gmail problem.
