Android :: Prevent TextView From Stretching Out It's Parent LinearLayout?
Jul 24, 2010It seems that a TextView inside a LinearLayout forces that LinearLayout to be larger. I am trying split my screen top 50% and bottom 50% and also the bottom 50% is split into 3 parts. So I did my weights 3 (for the top), and then 1, 1, 1 (for the bottom) for a total of 6.

As soon as I take out the TextView inside the first LinearLayout the splits are proper. The moment I put the TextView inside the top LinearLayout the top LinerLayout gets larger by the amount of the the TextView.

Jan 24, 2014Seems I had taken a screenshot of my lock screen and *that* is what I set as my lock screen wallpaper. Once I tried a default wallpaper all was fine. When I went back to input what I wanted from my gallery, I realized I'd chosen a photo from the screenshot folder. Very red faced here.

Never seen this before, but suddenly after a factory reset I have two clocks overlapping one another on the lock screen. It's not like a ghosting effect, but you can tell they're overlapping because their alignment is slightly different from one another. They are two different times, an AM and a PM. Very weird!
In Settings --> I have:
Multiple Widgets uncheckedLock Screen Widgets --> Clock or Personal Message = ClockDual Clock OFFClock size = have tried all sizesShow Date = uncheckedShortcuts = OFF but they are showing up anyway which is fine, I usually have shortcuts there but turned off trying to get rid of one of these clocks.
I also just noticed that all the icons at the very top have ghosts and they're all blurry.

Try placing the analog clock on 1 of your screens and then place icons around it, you will see that if you could overlap widgets or overlap widgets and icons you could use your screen real estate more efficiently.

Jul 14, 2010I have a ListView that contains an Image on the left of two vertically-oriented TextViews using a RelativeLayout. When both TextViews have text it looks fine. Sometimes the TextView on the bottom won't have any text, and the problem is that the entire layout is several pixels above where it should be because it still reserves that space for text when there isn't any making the entire list have annoying blank gaps. I remember seeing an example of where someone made the layout not reserve the space, but I can't remember how he did it.

I've tried checking my package signature verses an the signature of an unsigned copy but it appears to be the same - perhaps I'm doing something incorrectly here. I'm unsure whether people actually distribute the signed .apk in which case I don't think signature validation would work to begin with.Please note, this question is specific to Android Marketplace Applications - the difference being, application delivery is out of my hands and I have no way of linking between a legitimate purchase and an illegal download.

Aug 29, 2010I have a static library that contains some JNICALL functions, i.e. they are expected to be called from the JVM and are never referenced by the shared library that links the static library. However, it seems like function stripping is exterminating the JNICALL function (it's not visible in arm-eabi-objdump -t). I'm working around it by adding a dummy function with an impossible condition that calls the JNICALL function, but that's dirty. I know that there is a link option to prevent certain modules from getting their unused data stripped, but what is it? And how do I specify that option in the .mk file? I didn't see anything immediately obvious in arm-eabi-ld. Incidentally, the function stripping doesn't strip out JNICALL functions in the shared library itself, but it will remove those from the static library that the shared library is linking. What's the reason for that?
