Android :: Evenly Distribute Buttons Across Width Of Linear Layout

Aug 12, 2010

I have a linear layout (oriented horizontally) that contains 3 buttons. I want the 3 buttons to have a fixed width and be evenly distributed across the width of the linear layout.I can manage this by setting the gravity of the linear layout to center and then adjusting the padding of the buttons, but this works for a fixed width and won't work for changing devices or orientations.
<Linear Layout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout01"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:gravity="center">
Button
android:id="@+id/btnOne"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:width="120dip"></Button><Button
android:id="@+id/btnTwo"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:width="120dip"></Button>Button
android:id="@+id/btnThree"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:width="120dip"></Button></Linear Layout>

Layout Laments - Shrink Margin Of ImageButton?

Jul 5, 2012

I have my layout (semi) done, and was wondering if I am doing it in the most efficient manner possible. The layout seems very nested, and I am getting warnings about nested weights but do not know how else to proceed.

I am including my layout file, as well as what I want it to look like, the play field is all that is left.

**Small note, is there a way to shrink the margin of a ImageButton? the large ugly grey lines around the players hand is kinda unsightly.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

Android :: How To Embed A Database In .apk Of A Distributed Application [droid]

Jun 10, 2010

My question is I think quite simple but I don't think the answer will be...
I have quite a lot of content to have in my application to make it run properly, and I'm thinking of putting all of it in a database, and distribute it in an embedded database with the application in the market.
The only trouble is that I have no idea of how to do that.
I know that I can extract a file .db from Eclipse DDMS with the content of my database, and I suppose I need to put it in the asset folder of my application, but then how to make the application use it to regenerate the application database?

Android :: Emulator Networking - Maps Running In A Distributed Fashion

Aug 17, 2010

looking over the online guide for the emulator and after some googling i still have some questions on this - the guide focuses on emulator instances running on the same machine. However, I was trying to see how that maps for emulator running in a distributed fashion. If a node A (with IP address 129.10.52.x) in LAN A is running Emulator A (which will have the default IP address of 10.0.2.15:portA) wants to communicate with a emulator B (which will also have the default IP address of 10.0.2.15:portB) running on node B (with IP address 129.10.53.x) in LAN B how is the port forwarding setup in this case? The same way as if both emulator were running on the same machine? And why when I print the IP address of the emulator running on any of the nodes what's displayed is the loopback address 127.0.0.1 and NOT 10.0.2.15 which is the IP address that each emulator is assigned?

Android :: Make ScaleAnimation Move Evenly Or Figure Out How It Moves

Aug 19, 2010

I used a ScaleAnimation to make a timebar shrink in a game. When the current level was finished, I wanted the timebar to quickly shrink to the bottom. So what I did was that if 30% of the time had passed, I assumed that 30% of the timebar was gone. So I just started a new ScaleAnimation that started at 70% of the timebars original size, assuming that this would look like a single smooth animation that speed up when the level was finished. Unfortunately the scaleanimation does not move evenly. It moves slower at the start and end, and faster in the middle.

So now I have three choices: Either I figure out how to make the ScaleAnimation move in an even speed, or I figure out the formula of how fast it moves, so I can determine exactly how big it is when a certain percent of the animation has played. Or, I find a smarter way altogether to do this timebar.

Also I don't believe I can actually use this method considering the many different UI layouts. The button should stay pressed as per the UI the user is using.
