I am displaying a table of values in my android application, and would like the columns to be distributed evenly in terms of size , instead of sizing according to content. Been playing around with stretchColumns but couldn't manage to figure out the right combination.

I want to evenly space a vertical row of images in a ScrollView. I'm telling my LinearLayout inside the ScrollView to fill_parent, but it's not, it's wrapping content.

I am programatically adding custom views to a vertical LinearLayout, and I would like there to be some space between the views. I have tried adding: setPadding(0, 1, 0, 1) to my CustomView constructor, but this doesn't seem to have any effect. It was pointed out that I should use margins. Since I am dynamically adding views, I need to set the margins from code (not in xml). I believe the way to do this is below, but it isn't working.
public class MyView extends View {
public MyView (Context context) { super(context);
MarginLayoutParams params = new MarginLayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT); params.setMargins(0, 10, 0, 10); setLayoutParams(params);
I also tried using MarginLayoutParams as a parameter while adding the views to the Linear layout (as below). This also did not work:
MarginLayoutParams params = new MarginLayoutParams(linearLayout.getLayoutParams());
linearLayout.setMargins(0, 10, 0, 10); linearLayout.addView(view, params);

Here is my screen description: It is a TableLayout and it contains multiple Rows. I have set TableRow as clickable, as I want to go to next screen on click of a tableRow. Everything I am doing through Java programming (instead of XML layout, because number of TableRows changes each time) On next screen, I wanted to display all the views of that particular clicked TableRow. Here the problem i am facing is how to capture particular tableRow on onclick() even and how do I get all the textviews of that particular Row. I tried to set id at runtime, and tried to get id of view, but it's not working, giving error resourcenotfoundexception.

I have this layout that works correctly, a relative layout with a text view and two buttons spaced evenly below it.
CODE:........
But running layoutopt it says that "this TableRow layout or its TableLayout parent is possible useless".
Is there a way to do this layout then without the tables?

When a button is clicked, the following method is run:
public void createTableRow(View v) {
TableLayout tl = (TableLayout) findViewById(R.id.spreadsheet);
TableRow tr = new TableRow(this);
LayoutParams lp = new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT);
tr.setLayoutParams(lp);
TextView tvLeft = new TextView(this);
tvLeft.setLayoutParams(lp);......................
R.id.spreadsheet is an xml TableLayout. I can see from debugging that the method is being accessed, but nothing is drawn to the screen. What gives? Do I need to reset the Content View somehow?

I have a linear layout (oriented horizontally) that contains 3 buttons. I want the 3 buttons to have a fixed width and be evenly distributed across the width of the linear layout.I can manage this by setting the gravity of the linear layout to center and then adjusting the padding of the buttons, but this works for a fixed width and won't work for changing devices or orientations.
<Linear Layout android:id="@+id/LinearLayout01"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:orientation="horizontal"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:gravity="center">
Button
android:id="@+id/btnOne"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:width="120dip"></Button><Button
android:id="@+id/btnTwo"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:width="120dip"></Button>Button
android:id="@+id/btnThree"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:width="120dip"></Button></Linear Layout>

On an Android layout, I'd like to have a set of rows, each with two TextViews. The leftmost column of TextViews should be right-aligned, just left of an imaginary centerline down the screen. The rightmost column should be left-aligned.
Examples of this can be seen at http://stuff.greenberg.org/ScopeCalc.htm
What's the best layout to use?

Let's say I want to make a layout that has 3 TextViews, one on top of the other. But, I want the top TextView to always "stick" to the top of the screen (regardless of orientation), and I want the bottom TextView to always "stick" to the bottom of the screen. Then I want the middle TextView to always fill the available space in between (again, regardless of screen orientation). I've had no luck with LinearLayout and I've come close with RelativeLayout but neither have provided by desired solution.

I used a ScaleAnimation to make a timebar shrink in a game. When the current level was finished, I wanted the timebar to quickly shrink to the bottom. So what I did was that if 30% of the time had passed, I assumed that 30% of the timebar was gone. So I just started a new ScaleAnimation that started at 70% of the timebars original size, assuming that this would look like a single smooth animation that speed up when the level was finished. Unfortunately the scaleanimation does not move evenly. It moves slower at the start and end, and faster in the middle.
So now I have three choices: Either I figure out how to make the ScaleAnimation move in an even speed, or I figure out the formula of how fast it moves, so I can determine exactly how big it is when a certain percent of the animation has played. Or, I find a smarter way altogether to do this timebar.

I am trying to get my environment setup to develop an android app so I downloaded the SDK(http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html). After unpacking the files and running the SDK Setup.exe, the Android SDK and AVD manager opens up.
During the installation process, I got an error stating the following: Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml, reason: HTTPS SSL error. You might want to force download through HTTP in the settings.
So then I proceed to the SETTINGS tab and activated the check box which states: Force https://... sources to be fetched using http://
Then click save and apply. A box flashes on screen, which appears to be the previous box which showed the error, except this time, the progress bar races from 0 to 100% in about a second and then disappears. So clicking the FORCE option seemed to have worked for that issue.
Now, I click on the AVAILABLE PACKAGES tab which is where the Android manager actually downloads all the available resources including every "SDK Platform Android Vx.x" and every "Google API by Google Inc., API x, revision x"
There are green check marks in every check box indicating that I need to download every update.
SO I click INSTALL SELECTED.
The confirmation page comes up. Again, I click INSTALL ACCEPTED.
The INSTALLATION ARCHIVES box pops up and this is where I get stuck. I receive the following errors and I'm not sure what to do from here..
CODE:..................
I did some googling on "No buffer space available (maximum connections reached?)" and apparently it is a socket issue that typically occurs when a database query is called and there are a large number of TCP connections.
But beyond that I'm completely stuck. Can't find anything on my issue relating to Android SDK installation and I don't really know where to turn to continue with the SDK installation.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
>
<EditText
android:id="@+string/urlText"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:hint="Enter Url Here"/>
<Button
android:id="@+string/go"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:text="Go"/>
<WebView
android:id="@+string/webView"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"

So with the above android layout, I am not able to make the editbox and button to be to the full width of the container. About 50 px from the left and the right are not filled.

I want to set up a table layout that scrolls like a spreadsheet. The top row of column headings should scroll horizontally but be pinned when scrolling vertically. The left-most column of row labels should scroll vertically but be pinned when scrolling horizontally. The number of rows and columns is not known in advance. Does anyone know of an example of this? Are there settings in TableLayout that can turn on this scroll behavior? Is there, perhaps, a more advanced widget than TableLayout that can produce this type of scrolling? Are there some tricks I can do with a ScrollView to get this behavior?
