View 1 RepliesAnyone get any voice dialing functionality out of this handset? I tried TopVoiceControl but she just errors out after launching it (installed the app, the Texttovoice lib restarted the device and negative). If its already in the phone, well show me the error of my ways because for the life of me I can't find it. Or if anyone has any other voice dialer app alternatives, please share, again I couldn't find one.

I don't know if this is just a cell phone thing because my last phone on Sprint did it too. But when I call in to my voice mail and hear the female voice of the menu system, she is very scratchy. It doesn't matter what volume level I am at either, it's almost as if the sound quality of the VM system is just extremely poor. When I use my Droid speaker for other things I don't hear this at all. I watched several movie trailers in high quality on YouTube and turned the volume to max and it was as clear (and loud) as I could ever hope.So has anyone else noticed this?I wonder why this occurs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anybody else has experienced this issue. It doesn't happen all of the time, and I can't seem to reproduce it. It only started recently - within the last few days.
On some calls, after talking for a minute or so, the person on the other end will just not be able to hear me anymore. The call is still connected, and I can hear them just fine, but I end up having to disconnect and call them back due to the strange muting problem.
Anyone else experience this lately? I haven't installed any new apps recently - minus updates - so I'm not sure it's an app conflict. Just trying to pinpoint the issue and see if I'm the only one.
I am interested in getting some RIL information from the system. It seems that I may be able to get those RIL related values via RIL_RadioFunctions (onRequest particularly). Is there any way I can invoke these functions from the Android SDK or NDK?

I've used the voice recognition feature on Android and I love it. It's one of my customers' most praised features. However, the format is somewhat restrictive. You have to call the recognizer intent, have it send the recording for transcription to google, and wait for the text back. Some of my ideas would require recording the audio within my app and then sending the clip to google for transcription. Is there any way I can send an audio clip to be processed with speech to text?

I am pulling my hair on this problem from a long time and haven't found a solution yet. I am running Android demo program - APIDemo which is available in android source. For my dev I am using ubuntu, earlier when I used to run SoundRecording example it created a file on sdcard but there was no recording as such which was done in the file but now it started working suddenly. I am still not sure why it happened. But anyways good news is that Microphone is working with android emulator - as opposed to what I read at many forums that it does not.
On other hand whenever I am trying to run the voice recognition application available in same APIDemo its giving me an error - "Recording Parameter not supported: sampelrate 1600, channelcount 1, samplerate 1". Is it that speech recognition cannot take higher sample rate and if it cannot what is the sample rate it requires? My microphone supports only 16000 and higher sample rate.

I'm getting more and more requests about being able to use an App to SD feature that must be part of Android 2.2, but I really have no experience with it. I also don't know where to find any documentation regarding how to make my apps compatible with this feature. People have told me my apps cannot be moved to the SD card. My mind is also telling me that this is a really bad idea for paid apps that don't have license protection of any kind. Has anyone had any experience with this, know of any documentation, or have any tips regarding what would stop an app from being compatible with this feature?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can i change my voice mail notification sound? everytime i get a voice mail i think is a text message.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like a different notification sound for my email than I have for voice mail. I keep reading that each app has a setting that allows one to select a unique sound, but I am not able to find this setting for the stock email app, or the voicemail app. The only options under email settings are:
Email notifications - ON or OFF
Notification sound - ON or OFF
Notification vibrate - ON or OFF
Under Voicemail settings, I see NO choices for notifications.
I just wanted to know if there is some kind of class to use the multitouch features of android 2.1. Specifically I am trying to implement pinch-zoom and was wondering if I always have to measure the distance between two touch events and calculate the zoom level on my own?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my BB when I hit the end key the app does not close, it just goes to the background. In order to close the program I have to hit my menu key and then go to close.
Is android similar in its functionality?
Anyone know why they changed the functionality of this? You used to be able to press volume down all the way from loud, to vibrate, to silent (which would not vibrate). Now it either bottoms out at vibrate with certain settings, or skips vibrate and goes to silent. This annoys me because I have to actually go into settings now to put it in silent mode (since I have it set on always vibrate). I've yet to find a combination in the new sound settings to restore the functionality to what it was previously in 2.1. Anyone else running into this "issue", or know a combination that is the same as before?
