How do you delete and completely remove the preinstalled FACEBOOK Application from a HTC Hero Android phone? I just got my Sprint HTC Hero Android phone and I noticed that it comes preloaded with FACEBOOK. While I know that most people would consider that great, I don't. Do to my job, I am prohibited from using FACEBOOK or MYSPACE and therefore, would have absolutly no use for the application. Please let me know how I can safely delete it so that I can free up memory on my HTC Hero.

It just doesn't give me the option.
I do not want to risk screwing the phone up by rooting or whatever you do. I don't understand that anyway,
One day I installed a beta firmware for the G2/vision. The beta gave my phone a weird glitch where any apps that I installed would instantly force close afted I restarted the phone, but it would work fine if it was uninstalled and reinstalled. I installed the new firmware and now newly installed apps work. The problem is that apps that were installed while the beta firmware was installed still do not work after I restart my phone, even after I unintall and reinstall the app. There must be something left from the app even after

And everything I mean every rom's contents, busybox, scripts, etc. I once use one GB rom and it can run NFS Most Wanted very smooth, but after playing with scripts/tweaks too much, it turn out that the game lag more than before. So, I want to completely wipe everything and start over. Does the "Full Wipe" (Wipe data/factory reset+Wipe Cache+Wipe Dalvik cache+Format system+data+cache) do the job? Or maybe there is something more?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an app that when someone downloads it from the Play Store, recognizes the phone and connects to a server (Internet is needed) so every time I open it I have all my data and my "app activity" shown there. So, here's the thing: I want to sell the phone to a friend of mine, but I don't want (neither does he) to reset to factory because he wants a large amount of the apps I have already installed and it is part of the price.
So, I ask you: Is there a way to completely remove-uninstall an app and ALL of its data so that there is no way for the app to have MY data displayed, and basically the app is "reseted' to factory, so that my friend can use from scratch?

Even when you remove the little back rubber/plastic cover for the USB connection plug, it still stays attached to the phone and dangles. I am thinking of completely removing it from the phone. Can I do so without damaging it? Can I re-attach it if I change my mind later?

Apparently, my xml view is not correctly understood with this device (or Android version). With Android 2.1 all is ok, but with Android 1.6 I've a second scroll bars displayed (one for webview another for the scroll view), my last relative layout covers the webview which is not displayed completely. I know that an issue was existing with Android 1.5.

I need a different way.Story: I was switching roms & i by mistake pressed Wipe battery informations or something like that, (using Amon Ra 1.5.2 recovery) The phone got messed up & i put the Dreaimg.nbh in the boot thing, & reset the phone.. i dont have root anyymore but when i go into recovery (non-root recovery, just plain with the exclamation on top of a phone) it says on the bottom of it : "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command"I'm sure that is messing with everything, since it wont let me root my phone once more.. Do i need to unroot my phone just in case?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm developing an application which downloads a file from FTP server. The code first checks if file is present on local system . If it is not present on local system then it downloads it from FTP server. Application must download file from FTP server when it executes first time after getting installed.
If we reinstall the application , android preserves the data of old application .So now application finds the file on local system and does not download it from FTP server. But it should always download the file on first execution after fresh install. Is there any way to completely wipe out the previous application data on fresh install? Is there any registry or some location where an application can store data and it gets automatically wiped out when application is uninstalled?
I am creating a little application where I use the Android Camera class. Everything seems to work but the result is a black picture. I think I forget to set a parameter. Do you have any ideas on which parameter I must set up ?
The code:
public boolean takeIt() { ImageCaptureCallback iccb = null;
try { String filename = "photo.jpeg";
ContentValues values = new ContentValues();
values.put(Media.TITLE, filename);
values.put(Media.DESCRIPTION, "Image capture by camera");
iccb = new ImageCaptureCallback(new FileOutputStream(new File (dataMgr.getRoot(), filename)));
} catch(Exception ex ){ ex.printStackTrace();
} camera.takePicture(mShutterCallback, mPictureCallbackRaw, iccb);
return true;
}

I am unable to completely destroy my app. My app is thread based app. Once i exit the app by calling on Destroy method, it is exiting properly. If i try to relaunch the application is says "The application stooped unexpectedly, try again". If i again select my app it is launching. It means in a alternative attempt its launching. as i am guessing, its not making Null for few static objects. once it shows the exception has explained above it is making all the objects null, so that i am able to relaunch. Pls can some one suggest how to overcome this issue. How to completely destroy the application?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have an application, where I need to change the language through a settings menu. Now this part works perfectly, but it doesn't change the language for activities that have gone through onCreate.
I got a TabHost, and 2 tabs in it, from the tabs you can get to settings.
Refreshing the TabHost isn't an issue, as it's fairly small, however both the 2 tabs are quite large views, and having a function to manually update all the strings seem unnecessarily difficult. Is there any way to force the activity to recreate itself and trigger a new onCreate?
I tried having a static function in the tabhost that clears all tabs and recreates them, this refreshes the tab titles, but not the content in the tabs.
I am looking for an Android box, it supports 3D movies completely.
