General :: Unable To Scale CPU Frequency On Phone

Feb 3, 2013

I have a ROOTED chinese brand phone with the MTk6575 CPU (1 GHZ) with android 2.3.6 installed on it, and am trying to improve the phone's battery life by scaling down the CPU frequency. But out of all the apps I have tried (SetCPU, No-Frills, Android Overclock) none of them is able to read the CPU Governor or current CPU frequency. My question is could we change this frequency directly by editing any of the files inside the /system folder or is there any other security setting that prevents these apps from reading or changing the CPU frequencies?

General :: 3G Frequency Of Phone Is Hardware Or Firmware Dependent?

Dec 2, 2012

I am asking this because recently bought a BLU VIVO D910a phone from U.S., it has Android 4.0 firmware and its 3G Network is HSDPA 850 / 1900.

I made a big mistake, because the country where I currently live and work (Montenegro) uses 2100 3G network. I shoud have ordered the international version of BLU Vivo, the D910i which has HSDPA 850 / 2100. So, currently I cannot make use of the 3G data capability of my new phone

My question is: if I get the firmware (or just the modem.bin) of D910i and flash it to my phone will I change by this way the 3G frequency or it is hardware-dependent?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Radio / WiFi Frequency Tester - App To Shows What Frequencies Present Near Phone?

Jan 27, 2010

Does anyone know of an app that can test what frequencies are being used in the area? I'm trying to figure out if something is interfering with my wireless router, and if so what it is. I've got "WiFi analyzer", but that doesn't show anything other than wireless signals directly from routers, even though a cordless phone runs on the same basic frequency.

In other words, I'd like to find an app that shows what frequencies are present near my phone, including what my phone is putting out. Is that possible?

Android :: Guitar Tuner - No Public API For Frequency Analysis

Oct 17, 2010

I am looking for some help. I'm new to android, and java development. I've got a pretty good handle on the basics, but I'm having an issue figuring out some more advanced operations. I'm working a guitar tuner, which is a stepping stone to a chromatic piano tuner. There is no public API for frequency analysis, so I'm thinking I need to write into code a Fast Fourier Transform, and I'll assume I need to import a different package for this. Once I display the frequency of any given note, I need it to reference it's offset to a pre-measured Mhz. There is alot to write, I'm aware, but my first step is to try to figure out HOW to get the frequency, and display it in the UI.

Android :: Obtain GPS Location Once Every Few Minutes

Aug 23, 2010

I would like to write an app on Android to upload my GPS location to an external website once every 5 minutes. This needs to have as minimal an impact on battery life as possible, but it also needs to work without any user interaction. (Background: I'm competing in an Ironman triathlon which will take me about 14 hours to complete, and want to broadcast my location in near-real-time but without having to worry about fiddling with my phone.) So my initial thought is to write a Service which uses LocationManager.requestLocationUpdates() with a minTime of 5 minutes, but will this actually wake the device up every 5 minutes for my service to do its job?

It sounds like I would also need to use AlarmManager.setInexactRepeating() to make sure my service is awake while it completes its task but how does that play with requestLocationUpdates()? Should I instead set minTime=0 on requestLocationUpdates() but then go back to sleep as soon as the next update is obtained? Any general guidance on how to design this. I'm a competent Java programmer & will be using Google Maps on the server to plot my location, but am pretty new to Android development so I'm basically looking for a high-level plan on how to architect the client app.

Android :: How To Obtain Subviews From Listview

Oct 1, 2010

My program will show data based on selection from two spinners (month and year). Based on month and year, it will query DB and displays the content in listview.

I created two spinners and populate with array string. Then I created two spinner views, two arrayadapters and set onItemSelected listeners and set adapter to the views. Then I use cursor to get query from DB, then put the result into simple cursor adapter and put them into list adapter. Finally I use list view to add this listadapter. Result shows properly. It is OK when the queries is not too much. But when there are lots of queries, it is difficult to see. So I want to implement paging for my program. For example: I get 100 queries, and I want to show them like 10 or 20 queries per page. I can control how many records per page via another spinner.

But the main problem is that I don't know how to get subset data or subview from return queries (listview).

Are there any methods in listadapter or android can do that ? I'm still new in android. I also read some documents about getView(), I don't understand and not sure whether it can help on my purpose.
