I have a app that uses ads. The ad id is set in the manifest id with a meta-data tag. I want to change this tag when i start the app in some cases (diferent id for some localisations) Can i do this in code?

I recently upgraded my Android app to support multiple resolutions. Previously, my Android.manifest file had a line:
To support multiple density and resolution devices, I changed this to:

I then added a couple of new directories, like drawable-hdpi-v4 and drawable-long-hdpi-v4 that includes the high-res versions of the graphics. That's about it.
Ever since releasing this update, there have been a decent number of users complaining about various problems:
the app icon doesn't appear (I did not create a high res version of the icon)
the home screen widget no longer works, even if they delete and re-add it (this code did not change with the update). I've had a user send me their error log, which shows:

There is one questionable section in my existing widget code that may be relevant:

And perhaps most troublesome: the sqlite database is no longer accessible/writeable for some users so their data is no longer available. I did add the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission to the manifest. This is only happening to certain users and it tends to be HTC Eris users. In that error log I see things such as:

It's as if the update has caused a new process and it can't access the old process's data, or something.

The question is, how i can read the value of the meta-data tag (myname)?
Since the type is determined automatically by the build system ( booleans, ints, floats and strings ) i wondered if there is any way to force the datatype to string.I tried adding a space at the end ( "5555555555 "), but then the value gets interpreted as 5.5555553E9 float! ).I also tried using getString instead of get, but then null is returned.

Is there any way using "just eclipse" to automatic update android:versionCode and/or android:versionName each time I rebuild my app or every time I export it?

My problem is that, if in a later update, I decide to store more data or store the same data in a different way, I need to be careful I don't lose or corrupt data for users that upgrade (i.e. I want users to be able to use data created by an old version in the new version, like their high scores from before).For example, say I want to save high scores in version 1.

The message is then displayed to the user in the activity's onCreate function. When the application is restarted due to a orientation change, the message is shown again as it is still in the intent's bundled data.
How can I remove the extra data?
I tried the following:
Bundle bundle = getIntent().getExtras();
if (bundle.getBoolean("showMessage")) {
// ... show message that is in bundle.getString("message")
// remove message
bundle.remove("showMessage");
}
But the message will still be shown after the orientation changed, seems like the intent used is not the one I changed, but the original one. The only workaround I found is to save the showMessage additionally in onSaveInstanceState(). Is there another way? Or is this the way to go?
Do applications have an identifier, that is unique in the market store? And is is possible to query any meta information from the market store about applications, e.g. title and description?

However, it is totally screwed up when displayed on the HTC Droid phone such as Motorola Droid. Does anyone know that what parameters I should set to display it properly?
