Android :: Reusing Code And Resources From Another Project
Dec 10, 2009I have project A with some classes and some resources (used for classes configuration). I'd like to reuse its classes (and resources necessary for them) in another project B (and possibly in more projects). Currently I have 2 projects in Eclipse and they both builds fine, but when project B is started in emulator it fails with error.It should get classes and resources from both projects and package them together. 2) Make a third project which consists of symbolic links to classes and resources of those two projects. 3) Make project A as a service and consume it in project B. They all are imperfect: - 1 and 2 would pack classes and resources of project A into the .apk of project B. - 3 has performance penalty and reuse is not so easy.

I did try to use the Android Library concept (http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/eclipse-adt.html#libraryProject) but never got it to work in Android 1.x
I'm amazed by the lack of information on the subject. It seems like Google has aimed Android development at pet projects and not real development. Variant handling should have been solved ages ago.

Aug 19, 2009i was wondering if there is any way to load resource (such as skins etc.) that include drawables and layout information during runtime. what i mean is that the user can download a file (probably a signed apk - would it work any other way?) and would be able to install it adding to an already existing application thus adding more resources to it.

I have looked around a bit and I found TimingLogger on the Android SDK, and instructions here. It looks very convenient. But I can't get it work. This is my code:

It's is supposed to dump the times in in LogCat. But I can't see nothing.. I What am I doing wrong? Eclipse doesn't show any varnings. I guess it has something with verbose ouput, but I have set LogCat to show Verbose.
Android :: Running Multiple AsyncTasks At The Same Time - Not Possible?
Nov 1, 2010I'm trying to run two AsyncTasks at the same time. (Platform is Android 1.5, HTC Hero.) However, only the first gets executed.
Here's a simple snippet to describe my problem:

The output I expect is:
onCreate() is done.
bar bar bar
foo foo foo
bar bar bar
foo foo foo
And so on. However, what I get is:
onCreate() is done.
bar bar bar
bar bar bar
bar bar bar
The second AsyncTask never gets executed. If I change the order of the execute() statements, only the foo task will produce output.
Am I missing something obvious here and/or doing something stupid? Is it not possible to run two AsyncTasks at the same time?
I realized the phone in question runs Android 1.5, I updated the problem descr. accordingly. I don't have this problem with an HTC Hero running Android 2.1.

However, I want to get all Drawable resources where I won't know their ID's beforehand. Is there a collection I can loop through or perhaps a way to get the list of resource ID's given the resources in my project?

Nov 15, 2010I have an Android code base which uses APIs with settings to get different data for several apps. All apps use the same code base but with one or two design tweaks. So how do I re-use the main code base without having to copy the whole Android project each time?
iPhone uses multiple targets in the same project which works well. If android cant do this do I need to compile binaries of the code base in one project and then import into each new app project? If so how? I'm using Eclipse and am an intermediate Java developer.

HTC Desire :: Wi-Fi Running Time / Possible Battery Drain
Aug 7, 2010in spare parts, under other usage, My Wi-Fi on and Wi-Fi Running percentages are ALWAYS the same... right now sitting at 99% each. Surely Wi-Fi on should be at 99%, but Wi-Fi running should be considerably lower since I don't have any form of auto sync or location based things on.I can keep my phone on for 12 hours, Wi-Fi enabled, and Wi-Fi running is always full, at 99 odd percent. Nothing is using the wi-fi, even when i choose to forget my wifi details so there is no connection. I suspect it may have something to do with the root process "0" under Network usage under Battery history in spare parts. I'm thinking it's keeping my Wi-Fi active and draining my batt, even if it's not pulling any data.I've completely uninstalled every app (except spare parts), wiped cache and dalvik, put phone on Aeroplane mode, nothing changes. Facebook app isn't updated to 1.3 or 1.3.1 either.Really at wits end as to why my Wi-Fi is "running" at 100% all the time.Here are my details: HTC Desire rooted with Clockwork from latest Unrevoked. Oct 22, 2010Ive had my evo since day one.Absolutely love it.It's just that within the last month it's been taking awhile to open anything.If I click on mail it seems as though it stalls for awhile, then "loading" screen then it opens.Same thing with the messenger to check my text.Again with the loading screen which stays open longer than it use to.
