Android :: Photo Gallery Comparison - Good And Bad Features (HTC / Nexus1)
Jul 10, 2010I am wondering if there is a pics app that will cover all my needs on my Desire. Currently running both the Nexus1 Gallery and the default HTC Photos. Both have good and bad points.
HTC Photos
Good:
-Only shows my pics, not the album art and ebook art stored elsewhere on SD
-Has a simple Facebook pics option
-Uploads direct to Picasa/FB,etc
Bad:
-No Picasa albums viewable (most of my pics are on Picasa)
-Cant multi tag pics (needed for doing bulk uploads/shares)
Nexus1 Gallery
Good:
-Beautiful interface!
-Shows Picasa galleries automatically
-Has multi-tag
-Uploads direct to Picasa/FB,etc
Bad:
-Shows EVERYTHING on my sd card, and has no option to remove pics/directories
-No basic editing options (crop,rotate,etc as the HTC app has)
-No Facebook albums display

Jun 29, 2010What are some of your favorite features about this phone? Aside from the screen and speed, for me it might have to be the file sharing appplication (as seen in the mobileburn video review pt.3)...I have gotten so sick of having to email pictures I take to my computer, so just being able to send em through the app over.

Jun 23, 2010First time poster as I'm only just preparing myself for my first Android mobile I'm considering purchasing the HTC Tattoo, but one thing has me worried. In all the reviews I read they note the lack of apps on Android Market for the Tattoo, due to it's lower resolution - is this still an issue? I've read numerous reports stating the issue has been fixed but I'm not quite sure what to believe.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Phone Features / Functions Not Responding Correctly?
Sep 28, 2010I got my droid2 as a replacement for my droid from verizon after the droid crapped out with 2.2. Now, when I turn on the flash, it's yellow instead of white. Also, when I go into contacts and click on someone, most of the time the number doesn't show. Also sometimes when press the call button next to someones name in the phonebook, it will call someone else. Ex: tried to call my friend Dave and it called Scott.. Not even close to each other in the list...
The camera only works half of the time. When I try open up camera by either pressing the app icon or the hard button, it wont open. There are also times that when I open an app, another app will open. Like I tried to open maps and Dominoes game opens. Other times I tried to answer a call and I try to swipe over and it doesn't slide.
Motorola Droid :: ROM - Supports All Features Of NON Rooted Phone Properly
Feb 24, 20101) What, if any, is the BEST ROM based on these criteria
a) STABLE
b) supports all features of a NON rooted Droid phone properly - can be v2.0.1 for all I care, I would just re-run this same list at a later date for a custom ROM running the official 2.1 or later equivalent I suppose.
c) while accomplishing all other criteria listed, still allows for overclocking by the USER - i don't mind using another app to do this - allows tethering and other applications which would typically require ROOT access
d) Accomplishes or at least allows for VOLTAGE and/or PROFILE adjustments to help fine tune battery life while balancing performance - again, doesn't really matter to me if I end up having to pay for an app to addon to accomplish this................
HTC Droid Eris : Lack Of Accessories
Nov 26, 2009Why are accessories so scarce.Eris has been out since 11/6.You would figure at least batteries and charging docks would be available.Also with the eris just being a re-branded hero, you would think there would be abundance of accessories.I can understand the droid,because its a completely new device.I know I could just do my research and find out what batteries and docks are compatible, but i don't think i should have to.When i bought the samsung omnia i had no problem finding batteries and docks.It seems like it was a rushed launch, but they been talking about this since the beginning of the year.

Mar 6, 2010I have wanted a smart phone for a while now. I originally leaned towards an iPhone, but I don't like the fact that you have to have a Mac to develop for it. This lead me to download the Android SDK and begin messing around.
I do want to get an Android phone soon, so I can really test my code on the actual device (and just to have a smart phone =P).
I'm looking for a balance between value and power/functionality/features. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. What are your experiences? What do you use? Would you suggest what you use? If not, what would you suggest?

1. the ability to edit/make a playlist on-the-fly (without the use of a software)
2. have the ability to add songs to the playlist on-the-fly
4. the ability to customise the EQ settings on ALL or a particular song to my liking.
5. some form of surround/3D/propreitory sound enhancing feature
6. one that supports most audio formats (like WMA, MP3 and Flac)
my budget is between �150 to �250 region.

I don't want to use my GPS device anymore, this is one of the main reasons I upgraded to Droid. I'm a sales rep and often need to drive to areas I'm unfamiliar with.

Jul 19, 2012I have a BRONCHO brand crane-a710 tablet with Android ICS (OEM is not a global supplier). And, i have a Huawei K3765 3G USB modem which i use its phone feature with my pc. I want to use the voice call function of this USB dongle with my Android tablet but unfortunately can't. When i make a call to the modems phone while it is attached to tablet, i have the dialing tone on my cellular. But tablet doesn't seem to detect the call and it has no response. Also my tablet has no usable phone features (Phone, SMS and contacts functions are not presented). Now that's the question: Can i install phone featurs to my tablet (and where can i get the necessary files) or is there any phone mode Android ICS ROMs for my BRONCHO crane-a710 tablet???

HTC EVO 4G : Video Playback Features Of Phone?
May 14, 2010Does anyone know anything about the video playback features of the EVO 4G? I'm coming from the iPhone where playback was limited to mp4 (encoded with h.264 or ffmpeg).
Either way, this thing can supposedly handle 720p. Is a 720p mkv going to be possible on this thing or am I going to have to encode video for this and buy some special player?
That's one thing about the iPhone i'm sure I'm going to miss -- the core functions like music and video playing are built into the OS and work rock solid. With android, are there going to be a bunch of odd video players to download and try?

Oct 27, 2010Has anyone used Good for Enterprise on a rooted phone? My company's now mandating we use this to access our corporate email, and they mentioned we couldn't use it with rooted phones. Does anyone know what'll happen if I try to install Good on a rooted phone? Or, could I re-root after I install Good?Also, if I have to unroot, will Titanium Backup still maintain the frozen state of my Verizon bloatware? Otherwise I should be able to just use Root Explorer and rename the .apk files, right?

Jan 20, 2010Does anyone actually have decent voice quality on their Motorola Droid? I am on my fourth DROID and so far every call I have made people have complained that I sound muffled. I know there are a slew of threads on this, especially on Motorola's forums, but no one has an answer. Some people say they do have good voice quality. I am wondering who does and if they can post recordings of their voice quality. The Droid is an excellent device, however it should always first be a phone. It absolutely sux in that department, and I am seriously considering exchanging for an old fashioned flip within my 30 days from verizon. My RAZR and RAZR2 were far superior.

HTC Desire :: Phone Features Not Responding Properly / Old ROM Version
Jul 9, 2010I am on my second handset and I am having so many problems with the phones I'm thinking of just giving up and trying to switch to a Samsung Galaxy S. I'm on the wretched Orange network and my phone has these problems:
- Non-working FM radio - it is static on every setting, although sometimes Radio 2 works(!) regardless of what headphones are plugged in.
- Alarm not working - It just doesn't go off if left overnight, even when turned on and with 2 alarms set.
- No internet via 3G - It gives no traffic, completely dead regardless of signal strength. It works via GSM and HSDPA.
- Randomly dropping calls.
- Randomly not able to send texts.
- People ring me and it goes randomly straight to answerphone.
- Erratic bluetooth, sometimes it works ok, other times it randomly disconnects from headset or car system.
It seems like almost every problem present on this forum, my phone has at once and it's driving me mad. Are these problems likely to be due to the horrible old ROM version that Orange runs (1.15.61.10)? They won't update it because it is too much work to stuff all of their crapware onto newer versions (solely designed to make you pay for things that are already available free, e.g. maps, ringtones etc). I dread to think how long it will be for Froyo on Orange. I am scared of updating the firmware incase it doesn't fix my problems and then I may not be able to get a replacement. Has anyone else used a replacement firmware to get rid of any of the above problems, or should I bite the bullet and go for a Samsung (I know it is cheaper built and doesn't have sense but at least it works right?). Does anyone know if the new "Black" handset on Orange runs the same firmware or has any updates? Also, that awesome Clock feature on Desire, with Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer, etc. Is that Android or Desire cos I'd hate to lose it by changing from HTC.

May 23, 2013I have been loving the features of the SGS4 - especially gestures. As a result, I have decided to make scripts to allow non-SGS4 phones, using Tasker, to get the same cool benefits. Some of them are pretty darn cool! Anyhow, Ill be posting the scripts as I get them done. You can then import them into your phone, thus giving you the same great fun. If you want to make your own scripts, you are welcome to post them, and share with everyone else.
