Does anyone know how to accomplish adding to my application's launcher icon the circular badge with a number inside of it (indicating number of unread emails) like the HTC mail application does? I know how to do this for notifications, but not for the launcher icon.

I have a MyTouch and a G1. I used to have an Iphone. On my Iphone, when I would get a new mail message it would light up a red number with how many emails there were on the MyTouch and G1 I get a little notification in the status bar at the top of the phone. My question is on the Iphone if the email notification was lit up with a number of emails that I had... and I went into my HOME computer (or any other computer) and read my email the next time the Iphone would go out to check for mail it would find zero there and turn off the notification. But on my MyTouch and G1, if it goes out to check email and there is none (because it was read elsewhere) it does NOT turn that notification off and it always looks like you have mail until you go into your email on the phone and check only to find none. Any way to fix this?

It does show an @ sign when i get pop mail via Gmail however it doesn't show up as a number on the mail icon. only when i get a true Gmail email does it show up as a number on the icon. once i go into mail and preview the email (pop) it will show as a number on the icon. any ideas?
View 6 Replies View Relatedshould the voice mail icon have a number on it like the email or text icons if you get a new voicemail? If I get a notification, it only shows up on the task bar. I was also experiencing not recieving texts. I have since done a reset which fixed the text issue (and sleep-for now), but not the voicemail. Should I take the phone back? I fear its anotjer software bug, not hardware. I love this phone, but I'm getting very annoyed that it can't even do what its suppose to.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the samsung captivate. When I first got the K9 mail it worked fine. But it seems that after an update a few weeks ago my new mail icon seems to be stuck. I do get my notification and when I check the mail, it does show new mail the first time. But after I check it and clear it from my mail, it still shows that I have 2 new message or so. The number keeps growing. Any way to clear this?

Maybe it contains content providers, or maybe it is a license key app that just needs to be present.What is the proper way to do that? If I don't have an <application> tag at all, that works, but I don't think that is the proper way, since <provider> and <receiver> are also inside <application>.But the user experience is *unacceptable*. Instead of being removed, the icon sticks around and says 'Application not installed' until they reboot their phone, or, more likely, go for the refund.

In particular I want the white font label on a black, semi-transparent background. As it should look the same as the launcher shortcut I wouldn't like too much to imitate the actual look, but to re-use/copy it. Any idea where I can get that?I checked the launcher app and found application-boxed.xml, but it doesn't seem to do what I want and I am probably way off anyway.

But, if I reboot my devices, it's ok.In the manifest, I just increase the android:versionCode and android:versionName but didn't change anything about my android:icon. But, I have new image in the folder drawable in 1.1.

Only the Launcher Pro icons for Phone (Missed Calls) and Messages have a count indicator of a "1" in a red circle. The Voicemail and Exchange New Message counts aren't appearing in the Dock.
I even added a Shortcut to my Exchange mail account to the Home screen and it doesn't have a count either. Those all work under Sense.
I'm trying to remove activity icon from launcher panel. I'm using firmware 1.5. But nothing seems to work. I'm not receiving any error but activity icon is not removed.

I created a second launcher icon that is 72x72 and placed it in a res/drawable-hdpi/ directory.When I install the application on my Nexus One the icon looks good when I view it in the application menu.But when I place it on the desktop it appears small relative to other icons, my guess is I'm seeing the 48x48 version with no scaling.Do I need to do something differently either with my directory structure or my manifest file to get things to display correctly?

Not only could I arrange them however I wanted, I could also place as many as I could fit (almost). Is there a widget or app that allows me to place a "box" on the home screen to toss apps into. Right now I've found 'More Icons widget" but that only allows me to place 4 icons into the spot of 1, which makes them very tiny and arranges them in a square. Anything else out there?

I was looking through the source code for launcher in git for the first time after asking this question. I got the UNINSTALL_SHORTCUT to work. However, this seems to remove it from the home screen.Maybe my vocabulary is not correct, but I assumed the "home" screen was the thing that displays widgets and shortcuts that you can fling left and right to see all 3 screens.set in the AndroidManifest.xml.What I need to do is remove the icon from the "launcher" not just removing a shortcut from the home screen.I don't know if I can programatically over-write what I have set in the Manifest. On the huge Droid X screen, this looks amazing and does not look over-crowded at all. Though it doesn't look good in landscape mode, but I don't care about that for my home screen.

Is there a launcher which allows you to load icons that are say 100x100 and that does not scale them?

Just getting started.Today, I got a case for it, when I got home I took it out of the case and the dialer, launcher and contact icons, which were along the bottom, were suddenly instead down the right side.
