View 1 RepliesI have a rooted phone that I cannot receive MMS through handcent. I deleted my stock message app after rooting and seemed to have no trouble receiving mms but now I am receiving nothing. So far I have done a factory wipe, dalvik wipe, reloaded the ROM. 3G is activated. Deleted all texts (2000) to no avail.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince I'm lazy and can't go through the TONS of search results I find when trying MMS, I thought I'd start a new thread if that's okay with y'all. I'm writing because my girlfriend sent me an MMS message through her dumbphone on ATT, and for the life of me I can't download it. I've had this happen before, and read that to solve the problem, one should uninstall and reinstall Handcent, which I did.
Sadly, I still can't download any of her MMS messages. So here I am, imploring for your help in solving my issue. My EVO is rooted, but I'm not running any custom ROM's. I'm using Launcher Pro Plus as well.
The only problem is when I receive a text message, I get 2 notifications. One from Handcent and one from the stock messaging app on the phone. How do I stop the stock messaging app for good and stop notifying me??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Handcent and like it. I disabled the stock message app. Now when I get a new text message the same message is sent to me two times. I essentially get a duplicate of the same message. What should I do to stop this?
View 13 Replies View RelatedUsually my phone is on silent, and last night, I turned the ringtone volume up. So, I set my notification sound when I receive a message. Whenever I receive a message though, the sound is VERY faint and almost silent. The media volume is all the way up... Is this a phone or Handcent problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI get 2x notifications when I receive messages with Handcent. I assumed the stock sms app was also notifying, but I think I turned that one off. Still getting the 2x notification
View 6 Replies View RelatedIf i turn this off while I am home or in my dorm and connected to wi-fi
can I
1) Receive Texts
2)Send/Receive Pics
3)Make Calls?
when the stock Messaging app wasn't cutting it, I installed Handcent. But it started flaking out on me, so I dumped it and went to the more-reliable chompSMS.I liked it a lot.But to be completely honest, I missed some of the features of Handcent. But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks. Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've just downloaded the app to the HTC Hero. It works well, the only issue I have is that when it notifies me of a message it shows the number I have on the screen and when I go in and read the message then delete and close the program, it still shows the same number when it shouldn't have any number since I deleted my messages. Is this a problem with the Hero or some type of bug in the program?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIts really annoying that this app is full of adverts! Anyone know a way to disable them all?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI search in Android Market on "handcent" but I only get 8 hits: 1 for Handcent keyboard, 4 for Handcent font packs, SmsFu, SMS, and VibraSeq. How do you find the Handcent sms main app? I also tried searching on "handcent sms" but no cigar there either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst let me say that the Handcent SMS application is a much better messaging app than the stock app that comes with the EVO. However, the app is a battery hog and was draining my battery at a rate of almost 8 % per hour. Reason I know this is because prior to installing this app, my battery life was great. After installing the app, battery drain was really bad. Decided to uninstall the app yesterday and back to about 2% drain per hour which is what I had prior to installing the app. So for those of you with poor battery life, pay attention to what apps you may have recently installed as some of them are not optimized for battery consumption.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI picked up my Droid on 6/5 and downloaded the latest Handcent that evening.Handcent is what the stock Messaging app should have been. However, I've noticed some problems with Handcent, and I'm very interested in another app.For one, it will intermittently split the messages when it shouldn't.In other words, it will take a message that is under 160 characters and send it out in two or three different messages. Not good. Two, I opened up the thread between my wife and I.I went to Batch mode so I could select which messages in the thread to be deleted. After selecting most of them, I then hit Delete selected. Every single message on the phone was deleted. I even went into the stock Messaging app and sure enough, they were all gone. Terrible. So,what else is out there besides Handcent? I'm completely fine with having to pay for the app, as long as it isn't buggy and it has the features of Handcent.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI read that handcent was much better than the standard sms app from HTC so downloaded and installed it but now I get 2 notifications. There was a warning about this on the app page and it said to go intoapplications and stop the default message setting but if I'm looking in the right place it doesn't show as default nor allow you to change it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm considering getting a HTC Desire to replace my Nokia N95. One of the features I use a lot is the Nokia PC Suite's ability to send/receive SMS using my PC. I sometimes send upwards of 1000 SMS's per month, and can't see myself enjoying any phone which doesn't have this software.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there an app to send and receive (in sms both ways)? All the phone numbers that I text (or texted to me) appear on our family bill. Since there seems to be no way to stop that; I am trying to find a simple sms to sms app.. a paid one without ads that is as simple to use as 'regular' texting. I also assume a paid app will bypass the fear of me being a spammer since they will have all my information.

View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of an app (for hero) that would allow me to make and receive calls on my desktop when my phone is plugged in via usb? I have desktopSMS going and was wondering if there is something similar for calls. I have unlimited voice/text so i don't need anything to avoid that, my problem is that where i sit in the office i can't get a signal on the phone, but plugged in via usb my phone can sit on the window sill and get reception so it would be handy not to have to run across the room every time it rings! i tried searching the forums for this but on and pc are too short to search so you can imagine how many hits for "receive calls" there were!
View 13 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, for whatever reason I cannot seem to receive MMS message on my phone (HTC Aria, AT&T). I've tried the default messaging app, Handcent, and chompSMS so far, and none of them seem to work. Is there anyway to fix this? Whenever I get such a message it just downloads for an indefinite amount of time. I think I read somewhere that there may be some kind of bug on the phone that causes this, but I'm not to sure about this/want confirmation if such a thing exists.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that allows you to receive a fax sent to your cell#? Or even send by taking a photo and sending?
I know faxes are ancient now, but the business world can't seem to get past them. I generally scan and email, but some of our vendors still fax.
I am connecting to a server on my network written in C#. The data sent from the android device is received by the server and a reply is succesfully sent but the android code timesout and never gets the return data.I have tested that the C# server can communicate and reply with a C# client.
I have studied the network traffic using Wireshark when using both the C# server-android client and C# server-C# client and it appears that the android device acknowledges(ACK) the reply data but my code never recieves it.
I have the code running in a thread so running it on Android 4.0 doesn't error out but I have tried running it on Android 2.2 with exactly the same behaviour(or lack of it). Also I have run it on 2 different android devices.

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE" />

Can anybody tell me how one is better than the other? At the risk of sounding very 'Apple', I want something that just works. Its funny how if you search enough for app reviews you always find somebody who has bad experiences. If you uninstall either of these apps, do they uninstall clean and put everything back to the way it was? *default messaging app*
View 10 Replies View RelatedHandcent has an update 3.2
View 34 Replies View RelatedI've had problems with HandCent recently. The new version refused to upload from the marketplace and everytime I tried to cancel the upload it 'force closed' on me.
So I uninstalled handcent completely from my phone (HTC Desire, Froyo) and attempted a new upload. Still won't accept it and 'force closes' on me.
There was a new update for Handcent SMS on Nov 30th. This update seems to be making my whole Phone ( Sprint Hero) chug and lag. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also...If I wanted to go back to the previous version
( 2.9.17 & 2.9.18 ) how could I do that.
I've downloaded and been using Handcent app for my messages, its a really good app dose everything i wanted out of a message app.How ever there is one thing i cant see to get working, I'm using the HTC desire and every time i resevice a message it shows i have a message on the handcent icon on my home screen that works great. Its when i lock the keypad and unlock the keypad i still get the last message showing up on the lock screen and the notification bar at the top is still displying the message icon even tho i have read the last message. i have been thru the setting and cant find out to turn this off or to use handcent has my default messaging app.
