Android :: Send And Receive Text Functions?
Feb 5, 2010Any way to get at the Send and Receive Text functions of a phone? In other words, is there a way to transmit a text such that another phone, within range and using my app, could receive that text? Proposed app: The_Haiti_Phone: All cell towers and land lines are down. I would create a text msg to my wife's phone and my special app would send it. All cell phones in range would pass it on. When the packet's receiver's ID matches a cell phone's ID, the msg displays to the user. In summary, in a catastrophe, all cell phones with my app act as cell towers.

Aug 12, 2010I am experiencing an issue receiving text messages. I've been with Sprint for 2 months, and have experienced not receiving messages at all twice. I've also experienced receiving 10 messages at once bc they were not coming through. Finally, I am sometimes not receiving a message or two. I was with Verizon previously for about 10 years and did not experience an issue. Do I have a Sprint problem or an Evo problem.

Oct 25, 2010I have synced my contacts with facebook but when I receive text messages I get their phone number after the persons name and it's annoying and looks crap. Anyone know how to solve this. I know if the contact has multiple numbers it shows but it's showing on contacts with only one number too.

For example, texts from T-Mobile appear as from "T-Mobile". However, for some reason every text I get off a company starts a new thread, rather than all being in the same thread.

Jan 14, 2010I had hard reset my phone earlier on because I'd accidentally locked myself out of it, stupid as it sounds. I was playing with the lock screen and had accidentally set up a random lock code which I was unable to remember.Ever since then, I've not been able to send or receive text messages. I can make calls, go on the web and and even update my Facebook status from my Contact Card. Any suggestions? I've soft reset the phone, hard reset it once more, taken out the battery, all that good stuff.When I try to send a message, I get this Error code coming up a moment later.

Jul 27, 2012I cannot receive text messages. I can successfully send them, and my data/internet work fine. I saw other posters had those issue, but where mine is different, is that all of my conversations were deleted, except for sent/received picture messages. If a particular conversation didn't have a picture in the conversation, it was completely deleted.
I've tried my settings, turning the phone off, doing a battery pool. Nothing has worked. I of course would like to do everything possible to not have to do a factory reset, but if I have to, I have to.
I have a Droid X2 running version 2.3.5. I have Verizon.
