Sep 5, 2009
I've used animated GIFs in Android pre cupcake however my old code no longer works. To be exact: Movie.decode Stream Always returns null... Does anyone have any workarounds/fixes to play animated GIFs?

When publishing an update on the Android Market, is there any way to inform users of fixes & new features? I just published my first app and am still getting used to everything about the experience, including being taken aback by the types of comments that some people post. But I am definitely impressed with the error reporting capabilities!

I'm trying to send geo fixes to the Android Emulator in Eclipse. It has been working on some occasions but now it never works. I've tried targeting different platforms, setting the time zone in the correct emulator, changing the locale to English (US), wiping the user data in the emulator, used both telnet geo fix command and the DDMS...

Anyone else not pleased with the camera? It's fine in super bright outdoor conditions, but if you even attempt to use that flash, it's all over. Images are so overexposed it doesn't even look like Sprint/HTC tested the thing and oddly, with the flash, it is nearly impossible to get a picture that isn't blurry. When I turn the flash off the dark picture, albeit very dim, is perfectly clear compared to the one taken with the flash.And the flash button basically does what it wants. I can press it 10 times and it will maybe change the flash setting once.I hope they address this in a very-soon update to the phone.

Okay so after scrutinizing my white evo 4g for the first time yesterday I noticed that the bottom corner of the phone has some SLIGHT lift (like .5mm above the bezel) and of course some light leakage, which doesn't bother me too much.However I thought HTC were going to fix this issue in manufacturing starting in late June? Anyway it looks like they didn't.If possible I'd really like to just keep this phone and not swap it. I am hoping the separation doesn't get worse but I wanted to ask on here if anyone knows of a way to just go ahead and fix the issue myself. Like for example would a couple tiny dots of superglue on the corner do the job? Would that hurt the phone?What about the hex screws? I am suspicious about the validity of that fix.Anyway any advice on how to fix this before it (possibly) gets worse

Hey guys I know some people are having various issues, so I thought it would be pertinent to get a list of issues everyone wants before or to come with 2.2. Please only list issues that you've personally had. If anyone has a solid fix to the issues listed, a fix that would be just as good or BETTER than an official or suggested fix, then go ahead and suggest it.No LED Notifications: I know you can get NoLED, but you shouldn't have to. I would think it would be completely possible to have the four bottom buttons serve as the LED and turn on and off when you have a notification.Seeing the capacitive buttons in the dark: Why don't they turn on when I unlock the screen? Why don't they stay on when I'm using the phone? Not a huge issue as I kind of already know where everything is by heart, but could easily be fixed like the LED Notification.List your issue and I'll add it to the list! If anyone knows if Samsung has a Twitter account, or if someone knows an email address, we should really let them know these issues and try to get them fixed!

This thread on XDA suggests that the GPS is working much better after the OTA. I find it hard to believe, as that wasn't listed as one of the fixes. But look at what people are saying:Epic 4g: DI07 GPS is fast and fixed! xda-developers

I am looking to root my brothers phone to fix the lag issue...I have a couple questions though first...
His GPS is off by almost 30+ feet...it never comes in closer (My Droid X will go in to almost 5 feet or less.). I don't know a LOT about the Vibrants root/lag fix...
Also his accelerometer is off by about 7 degrees (through Android Sensor Data app).
So my question is...does the lag fix have any form of fix for the radios/accelerometer sensors in there as well? Also do you have the stock sbf in case the phone does need to go back in to return it to stock?

Just an FYI, there is a new version of Beautiful Widgets on the Market that fixes the weather update issue so many people have been reporting. Open the Market, hit the options button and go to "downloads", and you can update from there. Just got the update myself and among some other neat changes, the weather actually updates properly now.

Thought it would be best to create a single thread that has a list of all the fixes we have got for the moment so people don't continue to say it is "broken" (note all fixes including using zefs 8.3 kernel and modification of the CL14 OS/modem file): 1) Network Location works great now (it might put you a little away from your "actual" location (by a couple hundred feet maybe) but it still puts you almost were you are really located, and since we use this for "general approximation" of location (gps is the only way to get a reliable location fix) i will say it is working 100% (note this is with gps and wifi turned off. so we know it is actually fixed) 2) Optimization of the kernel allows it to actually use the processing power of the S3C6410 Chipset instead of using generic drivers. this means it is actually meant for the phone and works much faster. 3) Battery meter has been optimized to give 5% reporting levels and adjusted to semi-accurately monitor battery against known calibration curve of the battery (based off of Behold II battery code which uses the same battery). No longer drops you to 15% within 2 hours and turns off most functionality. 4) e911 in pattern lock mode now pulls up a dialer that only allows you to call 911 instead of automatically calling the minute you hit the button 5) reports of pandora/slacker/other streaming programs not having the same stutter starts. 6) keyboard lag has gotta incredibly better.

Is RTP streaming known to be working on Cupcake devices? I have not been able to start an RTP multimedia session with my G1 since Cupcake upgrade. It was working before the upgrade, e.g. by using the VideoView class and providing an RTSP URL. But the same test which was working before fails now. The RTSP OPTIONS and DESCRIBES exchanges are OK, and then there is a "PVMFFailure" in the Log, and a popup saying "Sorry, this Video can't be played".(Note: I removed a similar message that I sent yesterday because it contained broken links)

I'm migrating my app from 1.1 to 1.5. It works right but i get a problem thowing a new intent which used to open a Geo URI in google Maps. I think that it must be related with the fact of Gmaps not beign included as part of the core. Is there any way to solve it or change it if i want to keep the track of 1.1? This is the code: intent mapsIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW); mapsIntent set Data (Uri.parse("geo:0,0?q=" + address + "&z=19"));startActivity(mapsIntent); This is the throwed exception. Android. content. ActivityNot FoundException: No Activity found to handle Intent { action=android.intent.action.VIEW data=geo:0,0?q=Av. PrÃncipe de Asturias,}
