Android :: Export Logcat From Device
Feb 3, 2010Is there any way to get the file where logcat logs, and export it? I have tried running "logcat" and redirecting the output, but really it's not what I'm looking for.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThrough a couple boneheaded mishaps when moving to one of the 2.1 ROMs, I managed to wipe out all my Outlook contacts I had stored on my company's exchange server.
I won't go into all the details, but it happened when I tried to restore some data I had backed up before upgrading to the new ROM, and I forgot to uncheck "contacts" from the stuff I was restoring. Some process croaked when the restore was done, causing some silliness with my Google contacts, but also wiping out my Exchange contacts on the phone as well as on the server.
The good news is I have a full NAND backup from before I upgraded the ROM, so I can jump back to that to access my contacts. Problem is, I can't get them to sync remotely with the Exchange server. They also won't sync (or "reverse-sync" if that is the correct term) with Outlook when I use the latest version of the HTC Sync software.
So basically, I can't find a way to move the contacts from the phone to the Exchange server. What I want to do is get those contacts from my old NAND backup, move them to Outlook/Exchange, and then have them sync 'naturally' from the Exchange server to my phone, while running the new ROM I have installed.
I'm okay with having to do a NAND backup of what I'm currently running, restore the old backup to extract the contacts somehow, and then restoring the 'new' NAND backup, but I can't figure out how to manually copy the contacts so I can then import them into Outlook.
while my time developing on android I was looking for a functionality to get logcat messages from my real device (when starting an app on it from eclipse) and not only from my emulator.Does someone know how to enable such a feature?
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to get the eclipse logcat output to switch from emulator to device and back again? I am often developing, and using emulator and device in tandem, mainly because I can trace the http comms on the emulator and not on the device, and logcat gets stuck on whichever is launched first from eclipse. Right now the only way to get logcat output switched over is to restart eclipse, which is a little time-consuming. Anyone know another way to achieve the same thing?

It's an android shared library which some packages should just be jar files others need to be smaller shared libraries. View 2 Replies View RelatedI would need to export the shared preferences and load it on another device. Is this possible in a direct way somehow? (without exporting the keys one by one and writing to a custom file) Another question is that there is any XML parser which has the same functionality like SharedPreferences (getstring/addstring, getint/ addaddint etc.) and saves/loads the result to a path anywhere? (sdcard for example) I know SharedPreferences uses some xml's in the background but that xml is not readable as a file without admin rights as far as I know so it's not quite suitable for what I need.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Android application stores all user data in a Sqlite database. What are my options to backup/export/import/copy this data? View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a Palm refugee who is looking for some sort of memo app for storing dozens of snippets of miscellaneous information. My research so far suggests that my (seemingly modest) list of essential requirements isn't ticked by any existing application, I guess I'm just posting to get confirmation of this, or to see whether I'm missing something! Two requirements:
- ability to sync with something, so that most of the maintenance of the memos could be done on a keyboard and proper screen. Ideally I'd rather this was a desktop application on my own PC for privacy, but it seems like an attachment to privacy marks me out as some sort of relic of a bygone era, so I'm prepared to compromise on cloud synchronization.
- ability to export memos in a form which is reasonably transportable, eg a CSV file. Again, call me hopelessly old-fashioned, but I would no more put all my data into an application which has no exit route than I'd put all my money into a bank which doesn't like customers to make withdrawals. As I say this doesn't seem unduly demanding, but I think current technology is some way behind my brief shopping list. I suppose I'd quite like the ability to import Palm memos (from a CSV file), but I've given up on making such demands and I'd be prepared to spend the evening cutting and pasting by hand for the right app!In short, as far as I can see, Evernote ties you into some bizarre database of their own with no way out, Note Everything has no sync or export facility, and nor does 3banana. So it looks like I'll be carrying my Palm around unless someone can tell me differently!
I am using Windows XP and Eclipse to develop. I updated everything today, the new sdk, the new adt etc. After that, when I tried to "export signed application package", nothing happened. If I click "export unsigned application package", a dialog box showed up. Anything i missed? How can I fix this problem? - You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. After I got the message with <a href=tel:+4369917343674>Roland Msl</a> to link a telephon number by thml, I make big plans to have my mind2 database on my phone. Usual when I make a phone call, I put this with some remarks in my database. But when I am underway only with my Android, the best possibility would be to have the phone call list exported from the phone to update my database at last with time and duration of calls to perons in my database
So the most important question to orgaise now is: How to export the call list to the SD-card
BTW is there also a navigation link syntax? Maybe something like <a href="nav:A-5082 Gartenau Drachenlochstrasse 1c/5>My home address</a> And when I click on the Link, the navigation software opens with the clicked address as target.

I have been using a few Task/To Do list apps most of which export in XML format. My question: NOW WHAT?? I was clueless about the use of XML except its use with databases and did a little research on the web but can't seem to figure out how to use it or convert it into a useful form for me. I really like the apps I am currently using and was HOPING to be able to simply export my task/to do lists in simple text but that isn't an option; only XML. Is there a way to take the XML file and convert it to text?? I just don't quite know what to do with the XML file...
