Android : Closing Activity Completely / Process Killed By Activity Manager Service

Whenever the memory needs to be reclaimed, the process is being killed by Activity Manager Service in killPidsForProcess. I have a back button in my activity window on right corner of the title bar.

I want to kill the activity completely on clicking the close button. Can I reuse the same function and will it have any major effect? Please help me out in this.

I am using a Nexus One with 2.1 SDK. I am having problems with a module in my application connecting programmatically to a network/AP.Monitoring the network,I see probe requests transmitting from the device, but I do not see an Authentication/Association request to the access point that I specify in the BSSID. Ultimately, I will perform a scan to determine valid AP BSSIDs, but for testing, I simply want to connect to a test AP which is in close proximity to my Nexus One.I have set the appropriate permissions in my manifest xml and am not seeing any negative log statements from adb.Any pointers or suggestions with using WifiManager to perform this action.

So I have got Eclipse (Galileo) setup with ADT installed. I also got the SDK installed. But when I run Eclipse I get "Failed to parse the output of 'abd version'". And if I attempt to debug an app from Eclipse I get: [2010-08-31 00:21:05 - HelloWorld] [2010-08-31 00:21:05 - HelloWorld] Android Launch! [2010-08-31 00:21:05 - HelloWorld] The connection to adb is down, and a severe error has occured. [2010-08-31 00:21:05 - HelloWorld] You must restart adb and Eclipse. [2010-08-31 00:21:05 - HelloWorld] Please ensure that adb is correctly located at 'C:android-sdk-windows oolsadb.exe' and can be executed. I was able to run adb from the command line and install the HelloWorld.apk from the bin directory to my phone. So it seems the issue is between adb and eclipse. Searching the net got me a few interesting pages, but none of the suggested changes worked for me. Any ideas would be great.

I am using a Mac with Eclipse Galileo, trying to load Android code from a public repository. I tried 'Checkout from SVN' and the URL is:
http://secrets-for-android.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/secrets-for-android-read-only
This is from the website:
http://code.google.com/p/secrets-for-android/source/checkout

I get the error:
Error validating location: "org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: Bad URL passed to RA layer
svn: URL 'http://secrets-for-android.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/secrets-for-android-read-only' non-existent in revision 114"
Keep location anyway?
I'm currently using this svn client in Eclipse to manage my own secure repository on another website, so I know it's installed correctly and works.

Helloworld tutorial sample builds and runs just fine, except it doesn't show the text (i.e. loads apps). The only thing I see is that Emulator (Target 2.2 API level 8) comes up with just the "Android" in it. and then the emulator shows up a locked up screen in a while. I'm trying to catch socket errors (invalid ip, wrong port, etc.).It seems like the ActivityManager is shutting me down before I have time to catch these errors. I really have no idea what's going on here. My splash screen Haus attempts to start the service from a thread, however when the thread get's to the "about to create socket", it simply locks up. It locks up the entire app until the Force Close dialog box arrives.

I have been practicing with android for a while and read a few books but there is something I can not find anywhere even on the net. I am interesting in the activity manager and how it works. Especially how the activities are pushed on the stack then pulled, etc... I looked everywhere I could for such documents but the only things I could find were overall documents with not much details. I have downloaded the entire source code (cupcake branch) and started to have a look at it but obviously the code is big and very complicated. I was just wondering if an android google engineer somewhere or even somebody else who could let me know where I could find such information (whether it is a document, a link, etc...).

It said' You may need to open the Debug perspective (next to the "Java" perspective icon in the upper-right, click the small "Open Perspective" icon and select "Debug"). Once you do, you should see a list of threads; if you select one and break it (by clicking the "pause" icon), it should show the stack trace, source file, and line where execution is at. Breakpoints and whatnot should all work.

My question is which threads I need to select in order to debug Launcher Activity? I don't see a thread name Launcher.

Iam connecting 3G phone for my Android device for internet connection and another Socket(SPP) for CAN signal receiving.Whenever I manually connect to the Bluetooth tethering via 3G phone, i can browse internet perfectly and speed is good.Whenever programmatically connect to the 3G connection, i couldn't browse internet.i checked in shell and observing that in my mobile 'device is connected' message displayed and E symbol appears.No problem for me to connect Socket.But I got problem to use 3G phone.For this iam using APN/DUN mode.I checked both but no use.Is there any performance issue here or anything wrong to connect different devices by using Bluetooth API in android.Why this happends while connecting Mobile programmatically.

I want to be able to show the Battery Info activity in my app, which shows things such as the exact level, battery health, etc.I'm not sure how I can get it, though a few applications such as Power Manager, Any Cut, etc. show this screen as well. I found in the source code of Settings this intent in a file called testing_settings.xml,But I don't know how to use it. I would guess from the fact that Any Cut has a list of activities, that a list of said activities exists somewhere, and therefore an easy way to access them exists, but I haven't found it.
