View 4 RepliesI just want to know a couple of things (NOT that I would ever try this myself but im interested in the info).
1) Is it possible to install quad core firmware on dual core tablet?
2) Is it possible to 'spoof' the android system into thinking 2 CPUs are 4?
3)If you install dual core firmware on quad core machine will 4 cores or 2 show up?
Anyone hearing any news on upcoming dual core releases. I'm eligible for upgrade on 12-1-10 but if something new is coming out I'd wait a few months. I'm with sprint and would like to stay with them, hoping they will have one of the new dual core releases.

There is a static table in test script which defines the various test timming. This table has hard coded values for al lthe expected results. Does this table have to be changed based on the platform whether its a Dual Core or single core? It's always failing with timeout errors.
We believe these errors are to do with how the nano seconds are measured. We have been seeing some issues regarding the API System.nanoTime(); when we run on a Dual Core architecture.
Has anyone seen problems with this API on a dual core architecture?
I have a Polaroid 7'' Dual Core PMID702DC tablet with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and I can't turn on Wi-Fi! When I turn it on, I got to Settings > Wi-Fi and it says that it's on but the button is gray and on the right it says 'Turning on Wi-Fi' but it doesn't turn on and a few minutes later it goes back to Off! I've whacked it on the back a few times and it doesn't turn on! What do I do?

Honestly, with all this GPS crap going on, I didn't even get to enjoy my soon to be outdated phone.
Samsung will release a new dual core chip, and with graphics that are 5x that of what we have in our phone.

LG will release dual core also:

I'm kinda not happy about this, septemeber will be over soon, and those new phones will be 2 months away.
This is also just my opinion, but the slow pace that samsung and T-mobile are going, I bet Android 2.2 will be the last official update T-mobile gives us for this phone.

I've bricked my Onda Vi40 while updating it to 4.1 with clockworkmod recovery. I used the files that I've found from a forum post, but after flashing a file, an error occured (I can't remember the error message) and now, my tablet is stuck in clockworkmod. Also, I can't mount external sdcard, error messages appears as follows:
error mounting /sdcard!
error mounting /sd-external!
At my computer's device manager, the device can be seen as "GT-I9100" device, seems like a Samsung Device. I've found and tried to install the device drivers, but it's unsuccessful too.
As a result, my tablet stuck at clockworkmod recovery, it can't mount any sdcard, i have no access to internal memory.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBought the Ainol AX1 Quadcore Dual Sim from Aliexpress. Everything is fine on it except that it reboots every now and then. It usually happens after charging. The reboot that happens is shorter than the normal manual reboot. I'm thinking that an upgrade may work but I do not know where or how to upgrade this device. I have an Huawei G300 Android phone that informs me automatically if an upgrade is available. For this tablet, an upgrade can only be done by downloading an upgrade file and loading it manually?

I am not referring to writing an android application with Scala, that I did early early on, but actually hooking into the build process that builds the android platform source tree. I imagine this will be a matter of hooking into the makefiles and such. Does anyone have insight into this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI understand that the system may kill the activity without calling onDestroy(). Say I have a MediaPlayer that runs even when it's not visible, I would be releasing the player in onDestroy() method. Now, if the system decides to kill the activity after calling onPause() and never called onDestroy(), what does it mean for my MediaPlayer? Is it ever released? This is bigger problem for Camera since I think it requires to be released for other activities to use it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I publish an update to my app on the Android Market, will the app only "patch" (or only update changes to current application) or will it just replace the old application with the updated one?The reason is because for my app I need the user to retain some information (such as a database) on their phone that is gathered from the user on the app's first setup and not have to ask the user to repopulate this data on every update.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am planning to release my app (which i have been pllanning to do so for quite a few time now, waiting for the expansion of google checkout to happen).I am from India and I am planning to release the application using my friends UK Bank account. Is this advisable? Are there any things that I should take care of?Also is there any chance of google expanding the google checkout or in introducing new payout options like paypal?I have been waiting for the support for quite sometime and I am very much depressed on the issue that google is still not expanding the services, ive sent numerous mails to them asking for atleast the estimated release date but in vain.
Its been nearly an yeaar since android is relmore than an year since android phones have been released and still there is such slow progress. iPhones allows developers from most of the countries to publish their apps and customers from any country can buy the same, i think they can even do it through itunes.I think this is going to hurt the progress and development of android big time. If apple can do it why not google? I have been expecting some response from google atleast on the estimated date, so that we can plan accordingly.
the least painful way to somehow continue releasing new versions to my users? I can't sign with the old keys anymore.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a paid app in the market place, we would like to release a demo of the paid app. I was hoping we could just recompile w/ the same package name, but apparently that does not work. I have tried manually changing package name etc, but it is a chore, and it seems that several things that automatically happen in eclipse cause more harm than good when renaming the package name. Which brings me to my next question. If having a new package name is the only way to accomplish this. Is there an easy way to fork the paid app, where keeping the changes synchronized is easier? Some kind of Source Control?
