Nov 4, 2010I recently had to reinstall my whole phone but didn't save the apps.Now I had alot of apps but they were all mostly free ones so it didn't bother me.Downloading this many though is going way over my internet usage and costing me a fortune (I have fair use policy and its cained)Basically so I dont have to download from the market I thought it be good to try and find the .apk files for each Free app I have and just download them to my PC then paste them onto my phone internal SD then using astro or something install them.Only problem is, I cant find where to get the.Anyone help?

Feb 8, 2010I am trying to download a ringtone onto my phone (which apparently gets downloaded to my sd card under download) but its saying I have no available space. Its a 2 gig mem card and i have 1.7 gigs left on it thats completely free. And my phone has 99mb of internal memory free. So a few hundred kb ringtone should not be saying this.

May 13, 2010New Android user here. I have an HTC Incredible. My previous phone was a bb Storm. The only thing I miss about it is an app called PodTrapper. It was an excellent app for downloading podcasts. I'm looking for something close for my new phone but so far everything is lacking in some area. Here are the features I would like to have:
*It MUST do video podcasts.
*It should autoupdate and download the media
*It should autodelete watched/listened episodes
*It has to let me manually enter URLs and username/password
I can't find anything that does all of this. Does anyone know of an app that does this and does it well? Paid app is ok. Podtrapper was $10 and well worth it!

Dec 9, 2009I am trying to look for a torrent solution. I have transdroid right now, and it is able to communicate with my seedbox and I can manage torrents that are already loaded on there. My problem is adding new torrents from my private websites. I have noticed that torrent-fu will allow you to search some of the public websites for new torrents, but that doesn't work for me. Right now I have to download the .torrrent file with my default browser.
And it saves the file as "unknown.torrent" then I have to open it with transdroid. This question is worded weird, but basically what I would like, is a torrent app with built in private torrent site searching / downloading. Or the ability to have my dolphin browser, recognise the .torrent extension, and associate transdroid with that.

Jul 17, 2010new Android user here (new HTC Legend owner) and was looking for a worthwhile app to use for VOIP dialing, when I'm in within range of the internet. So I don't have to use my mobile minutes. On my old Nokia E71 I used something called 'Fring' but surely Android has some apps that are much better than that. Not interested in paid apps either, I've already spent a fortune this week. I already have my own VOIP account with a provider and the needed info, so I just need the interface or whatever

The crash happens because com.android.internal.app.ResolverActivity is trying to find a (single) component which resolves the following intent: <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
Has been tested BOTH with the AppInstaller, and the actual Marketplace on a real device.
Android :: Maintaining Both Free And Pro Versions Of Application
Mar 27, 2010I want to create a PRO version of my application for Android and was wondering how to structure my repository. For know I have a trunk and feature branches. I'd like to put a pro version in another branch but maybe there is a better way? For example, maybe I should create two branches - one for free version, the other for pro?
Pro version will have additional features and will be ads-free, so e.g. I don't want to include AdMob libraries in the pro version. Do you have any experience or suggestions as to what would be the best way to structure the repository in this case? I think I've found the best solution (for my app) in this thread:

The trick discussed there is about having another application that only serves the purpose of unlocking PRO functionality in the actual application. The unlocking app is paid in the market and the actual app merely checks for the existence of it on the device.

Oct 2, 2009I have an application for which I am planning to release both a free and a paid version. I found that this will require the two versions of the application to each have different package names.
When a user upgrades from the free version to the paid version, the paid version needs to be able to access the database built by the free version. I am trying to understand the best way to make sure that upgrade does not disrupt the user's data.
I have read that the AndroidManifest file setting for shared user id should allow both applications to access the same data. I don't need the applications to both be running simultaneously, as I expect the user will uninstall the free version after upgrading to the paid version. However I need to make sure that if possible the user's data is not lost and is still accessible and usable by the paid version of the application.
I have read about a problem with the shared user id where uninstalling one application will cause the other shared application to stop working because its permissions get deleted, (see details at http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2773 ) Apparently this issue is fixed in doughnut, but since all the currently deployed android phones do not have doughnut yet, this still seems like a significant problem.
In addition to the database information, I would also like to preserve the user's default shared preferences settings after the upgrade. However the default shared preference settings are not as critical as the data in the database.
