I am using a couple of ListView elements in my app. In all cases, it doesn't highlight the selected item when I click/touch it, but I can use the trackball to scroll up and down, and can see the orange highlighted color then. How do I fix this? one of them is a LinearLayout with two TextViews in it.

I have a list activity that creates a header row above the data rows from the adapter. I want to receive click events when the user selects the header or a data row (but my data rows have check boxes in them, so this part is tricky). When I use the touch screen, I get this expected behavior:
1. Tapping on any row causes a click event and a dialog appears.
2. Long-pressing on a data row causes a context menu to appear.
3. Long-pressing on the header row does *not* show the context menu.
However, when I use the arrow keys (emulator) or trackball (G1), I get this unexpected behavior:
1. Selecting any row fails to cause any click events, even though the row's appearance changes like it's being clicked.
2. Long-pressing on the header row *does* show the context menu, which I don't want.
3. Occasionally, it doesn't focus the correct row when I move up or down (e.g. it skips from the header to the last data row).
I have a ListView with a header and I am able to click the header as if it was a list item however there is no highlighting if it receives focus from the trackball/D-Pad. Basically I want the header view to operate exactly as if it were just another list item in the ListView. Is there a way to do this?

The first problem is the layout that I use for every row of the listview. When I click in a row I've programmed that it expands with some other views. All works fine, but when I try to click again for shrink it, it seems that it's no focusable and doesn't highlight and, of course, it doesn't shrink. If I change the deprecated singleLine in the XML to inputType="text" all works fine but the row never highlithts.
The second problem goes when I try the method that Romain Guy said about the RelativeLayouts and the alignwithParentIfMissing. No matter whatever I try, but it seems impossible to implement in a ListView.
Another problem is with ellipsize, but it looks is a Android SDK bug and only works fine if I set singleLine in the attributes of the TextView
Well, I hope someone can helps me. I put the code of the listview and the XML of the layout. If you need some more code or information, as if you find any improvement or error.

Once I've done that, there is no change about the behaviour of the listview. But I noticed that only I can expand the row clicking in the textview, if I click inside the row but in a empty area nothing happens.
I set an ImageButton's click listener via setOnClickListener(), but it doesn't respond to trackball clicks like a regular Button.

When browsing certain web page with CGI form, browser doesnt respond to trackball click event unless we play around the UI ormove cursor around or switch between application. However, tocuh screen works all the time. I can't give an example of problem making web site yet. Just wodering is it an isolated case to me.

I understand how the pointerCount works , I can get two points, etc, etc. My problem is I am trying to implement a game control, i.e. dpad and some buttons. The "buttons" are actually TextView objects with images. I Implement OnTouchListener Interface. my onTouch Method gets called when it should. The problem is if I have finger #1 on button a then press finger #2 on button b my OnTouch() method is called with the view of button a, not button b. Fine then I will just get the bounds of the buttons and see if they intersect with the points clicked. No luck, It seems as though the points that come in the MotionEvent are not relative to 0,0 , but to some other coordinate system. I would have thought all points were relative to upper left of screen.

About 3 weeks ago my tackball stopped scrolling down.First I thought it had to do with grease but now that I have cleaned it (inside and out) with rubbing alcohol, it must be something else.Does anyone have any ideas?

I uninstalled it and went back to the native texting app but decided I liked chompSMS's UI and ability to set different ringtones to different contacts so I went back to it... and now my trackball won't light up when I get a text. The notification LED flashes, but no trackball light at all. I kind of liked it cause it was the only way I could tell I got a text when I was on a call (seeing the trackball light up out of the corner of my eye).Any ideas as to what's wrong? Or does chompSMS's latest update not support the trackball lighting up anymore?The trackball still lights up for calls and emails though, so I know it's not the phone's hardware causing the problem.

And the thing is it works in the emulator with my debug key, but i see only a grid when i put "true" key, i tried with three already that i know they worked, so why could it be? I have internet permission (in the right place, befoce ) and i just can't find why this thing only works with the debug key.

It has better prediction than the HTC keyboard, is bigger, and has extra swiping shortcuts to make typing a breeze. Watch a video on youtube to see all of the shortcuts. You easily switch from qwerty, compact qwerty (my favorite), and numeric pad layout by swiping from left to right. Do a search in the market for touchpal and it will bring up the Chinese version. Download it, go into settings > keyboard and languages and select (select checkbox) Chinese touchpal. The next time you have a box to type in long hold and select change input method and select Chinese touchpal. When you open the keyboard you have to hit the little sprocket wheel in the bottom left corner to change the language to English.
View 23 Replies View RelatedI don't want to sync my contacts to my Facebook friends, but what I want to do is be able to add their Facebook profile photos as my Contacts icon. I tried this last night using the built-in FB app in my Moto Droid, and it worked fine. Once. I got into my friend's FB Photo/profile album, long-held on the photo, and was given the option (like in Gallery) to SET AS, which I did. Tried it again with someone else's photo, and it wouldn't give me the SET AS option any more. So I went in to FB through my browser, did the same exercise with another friend's photo, and was given the option to SAVE the photo, which I did, then looked it and did a SET AS. That happened once and I couldn't get it to work again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn my HTC Hero, when typing messages, I could always easily access characters like "?" and "!" and numerals by simply "long touching" that button. Very convenient. However, recently, that featured stopped working. I can no longer "long touch" the K-key and get a question mark like I used to.
Is this a setting that has been inadvertently turned off? If so, I can't find it.
To start: I searched the forums for this problem but didn't see anything similar. If this is a repost, sorry, please give me a link to a solution.The problem seems to go away when I shut off the screen and then turn it back on again. However, I sometimes have to do this three times in order to type a single sentence text. I did a hard reset earlier today and it was fine for a few hours. It seemed to come back after I installed some of the apps I had before it was reset. I've read that there was an issue with the earlier Evos about the screen not being grounded, but this seems more of a software issue to me. Anyone know what I can do?

Was quickly reading a review of the Desire and read it has touch-to-focus. Was just wondering if anyone who is actually running the modaco desire ROM on their N1 can confirm whether this works? I'd also be interested to know if I could just use the desire camera app on a rooted N1 with Cynanogen? I'm rather partial to the stock appearance and not massively inclined towards Sense UI.

When I press screen on top it actually shows that I pressed at bottom of screen. I was looking for solution many days and have learned a lot from many sites and different forum threads, but surprisingly non of the solution works for me. I am not able to reach proper file to change proper property to change this behavior. Most probably i need to set somewhere: ctp_revert_y_flag = 1 as described here: LNK2, but I am not able to find nor edit script.bin on my phone, here I found some info: LNK3 and also here is very interesting info about partitions: LNK4 but I can't find this script.bin on my phone.
My phone is china phone 1:1 Real MTL 6589 GT-I9500, I was able to flash several ROM's using SP Flash tool from LNK5, I know how to do this, but no matter which ROM I flash no matter which recovery image I flash this touch screen behavior is still upside down as described.

What I know: how to root my phone, how to get to it using adb, how to use android-sdk, how to flash using SP flash tools, how to use recovery mode, clean user data, how to use SP Flash tool, how to switch on developer mode, switch on USB debugging, switch on "show touches".
Help me in resolving the below issue. I have three image buttons on screen. All these three buttons controlled under ontouchlistner as below. My problem is, as it is under multi touch event handler like above, it does not detect when touch all three button at a time to try to produce multi touch effect, instead it detects only one imagebutton touch at a time even though i touch all three image buttons. As i am developing this project on Android 1.6 SDK, is there any problem accessing my requirement(multi touch) (or) it is a known issue? I am hoping that, when it works for single button touch, why shouldn't it work when clicking three imagebuttons at a time to produce three logs printed as per my above code? Code...

my touch screen doesn't work or work sometimes on the different place where i touch.I remove the protection from the screen and make a reset to the fabric settings but problem is still here.Early i can make a calibration but now i can't do this.Problem is worest every next hour.Now is a problem also to unlock the phone,i do this once in ten or more times.

When it does, it's very glitchy, and pretty useless for anything that requires a swipe (like navigating home screens). I've tried all sorts of combinations of what finger I use, angle, and pressure, but it seems like as soon as I pick up the phone and do the same thing I was doing, it works fine. Just me or no?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone and the screen won't turn on and doesn't respond to touch.The insurance company is picking it up tomorrow (*hence the urgency) and would like to get some stuff off it. Most stuff is on my exsd, so I'm not too worried if I have to wipe it, but would prefer only to wipe it once everything is off. I'm rooted and have a custom stock based rom and cwm installed.
Is there any way of doing this? I have the lock pattern enabled so when I plug it in nothing shows up.
If not, then how would I wipe it?
I bought a new droid for $20 haha lucky i think until i notice that the touch screen only works for the middle of the screen to the left so if yu cut the screen into thirds only the middle and left work assuming that yu cut it from top to bottom with the lights at the bottom for the home button etc. I opened it up cleaned all the flex cable with alcohol and waited for it to dry and it still does the same thing so my question is = do i need a new digitizer or is it a software problem or something that i dont even know?

I was at a friends and they didn't have white rice so i had to put it in brown rice-- all day. Then today I put the battery in it and it acting the same, everything works but when I touch the screen it doesn't do anything. It has now been in a air tight sealed bag full of white rice for about 3 hours... It still doesn't work.. I have college tomorrow and I need my phone...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that after the last update, my touch screen doesn't work for a few seconds on random occasions and then works again after about 3 or 4 seconds. when I'm reading a book and they're about to reveal the mystery or enthusiastically playing a game and it stops working, I get increasingly frustrated that I can't turn the page or that I lost the game because during the last few seconds my touchscreen decided to temporarily stop working.. I just want to make sure there's not something wrong internally.
