View 3 RepliesI'm using an MK802 mini PC. I don't have a USB keyboard yet.
When I plug in a wired USB mouse, I can use that to click on the on screen soft keyboard.
But when I plug in the wireless dongle for a USB mouse, the Android soft keyboard doesn't show anymore (I guess this is because the wireless dongle supports both keyboard and mouse, and tells Android a hardware keyboard is available, so Android doesn't show the soft keyboard).
Any way to ignore this and always show the soft keyboard? Or another keyboard I can download which will always show?
How to i disable the keyboard when a button is pressesd.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am an android developer . In my application , I am trying to disable the "Settings" key of android soft keyboard . I tried a lot but I didn't get a proper solution .
Even I tried with KeyEvents. It gives only the event of "Enter" key.
Any proper solution which should handle/disable the "Settings" key.
I'm developing and Android app using the 1.6 sdk. I'm using a TimePicker and I don't want the soft keyboard to come up when you click on the digits in the TimePicker. I only want the TimePicker to be changed using the plus and minus buttons. I've tried using android:focusable="false" and android:focusableInTouchMode="false" hoping those would do it, but they didn't seem to do anything. Is there a way to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a layout with lots of different imagebuttons on it. Application is developed in full-touch, so there should be no response to keyboard or keypad on all activities except one, where user can input his name.
Is there a way to achieve that?
I've checked on debug, keypress and keypad press result in onKeyDown event. I've set it to return 'false' for all keys. But, for some reason, android keeps selecting my imagebuttons when keypad is pressed. And pressing Enter key result in View.onClick event.
How to totally disable all keyboard input for activity? I use Motorola Milestone for tests - a slider with a keyboard.
I'm using sdk1.1, there is no setInputType in InputMethodManager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter buying my lovely HTC Desire two weeks ago I'm now trying to start using my phone as an organizer/agenda.
Unfortunatly I really have sucky memory (hence I need to use the agenda from my phone) and thus I actually have NO idea what date it is today and everytime I goto the add event dialog I forget to look at the calendar what day it curently is (let alone tomorrow!).
Since the default app only has those anoying slider/slotbars to pick the date for an event... I keep placing events on the wrong date! :@
I've been trying to find a replacement app but the only two I've found so far (Jorte and Gemini) have the same anoying dialog to add an event!
All the other 'apps' I find when looking for android calendar apps are widget-only!!
Anyone knows a way to get a datepicker or something like that into the calendar app or a different app?
Maybe at least display the name of the day when creating a new event?
I am using datePicker in android to display images based on user selected dates. I need to limit said dates to certain days for instance Jan 1st 2010 to Dec 31st 2010. View 2 Replies View RelatedAre the widgets used in Datepicker standarized? Meaning, can I employ them in my layout, or do I have to build them on my own? View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to use a custom skin for my Datepickers and Timepickers. Changing the background in XML doesn't do the trick (it changes the background to the set, not each of its buttons). The API is painfully short and has nothing about appearance ( http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/DatePicker.html ). Is it possible to use a custom skin for the buttons of Datepickers and Timepickers?

I have a bunch of EditTexts in my Android application, each with InputMethod set to numberSigned. My target device does not have a hardware keyboard and thusly uses the software keyboard for numeric entry. Android attempts to be user-friendly and replaces the standard "Done" button to the right of the entry box with a "Next" button, probably because it recognizes the presence of other EditTexts My application does not need this functionality, and in fact impairs the functionality of the application. How do I remove or disable that functionality?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor those of you that are familiar with better keyboard. I was wondering about an easy way to switch from the t9 keyboard to the regular qwerty keyboard. I was under the impression that swiping left would toggle between the 2 but all that does is bring me to the numbers and symbols keyboard. I've been changing back and forth to the android keyboard because its faster than going into the better keyboard settings.
