How do I detect changes of boundaries and zooms in a map? Is there an event that is called whenever there is a drag or a zoom? I want to update the overlays when this happens with new data requested from a web server.

My Android application has a MapView. I want to divide that MapView into a grid according to latitude and longitude, and shade the different cells of that grid different colors based upon a certain criteria. What's the simplest way to do this?
I could create semi-transparent, solid-color PNG Drawable rectangular images and put them in an ItemizedOverlay centered on the central points of the cells, but then the rectangles would grow and shrink as the user zoomed in and out on the map. I could extend MapView and override the zoom functions so that the rectangles got re-sized when the user zoomed, but that seems really complicated for something that should be simple! Please tell me a better way to do it?
Double click zooms in but doesn't fit the screen. I'm running fans revolution apex
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased Xolo Q1000 and i installed subway surfers. The game has a function to double tap for hover board. But when i double tap on the screen for the hoverboard the screen zooms in and out but I do not get a hover board.
My device is rooted but i have the original rom from the company.
The phone comes preinstalled with android 4.2.1
The double tap function has similar effect in the dialar screen as well
I presume it is a software glitch. Is there any fix for this.
Is there a way of getting the speed at which the device is running?

And i want to detect the USB plug-in.But follow the information about the android.intent.action.MEDIA_MOUNTED in the SDK's DOC, i can't receive the event of the USB's plug-in. i have checked my code and it can receive the other event ( ps:intent action) .
Besides, in the CLI, i could mount the USB device to /sdcard but it couldn't mount automatically. have seen some source code about the mount and mountlistener and it should be effective. my SDK's version is 1.5.
I would like to have my code run slightly differently when running on the emulator than when running on a device. (For example, using 10.0.2.2 instead of a public URL to run against a development server automatically.) What is the best way to detect when an Android application is running in the emulator?

Basically what I need is for the code to detect car acceleration motion. I am not wanting to determine speed with the code but just distinguish if the phone is in a car and has accelerated motion (Hence the car is moving for the first time). I have gone through many different accelerometer applications to see if this motion produces a viable profile to go off of and it appears it does. Just looking for something that popups a "Hello World" dialog when it detects your in the car and its moving for the first time down the street. Any help would be appreciated and a simple yes or no its possible would work. I would also be interested in compensating anyone that is capable of doing this as well.

I hooked to View.onScrollChanged() and it is called when scrolling happened, but I can't determine when scrolling animation ends.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to get a system notification when an app has been uninstalled?I would like to maintain a table of all clients' info currently using my app. However, that seems impossible if there is no way to detect this event. The first solution I can think of is to have an always running service in the background listening for android.intent.action.PACKAGE_REMOVED. But then would that service be killed once the uninstallation process has ended, or would it be stopped just before the process has kicked off? Also even if this is a solution it's has the potential to put off a lot of people when they realise that part of the app is running in the background.

It's something very similar to the account switcher in the top right of Gmail app. When pressed or focused, the button has orange highlight. I'm listening for ConnectivityManager.CONNECTIVITY_ACTION broadcasts to check for APN changes which contains 'reason' extra among others. Unfortunately the 'reason' for APN change is not documented, maybe it should not be used? I was using (with limited success) reason:apnChanged and reason:apnSetupComplete as indicators of APN change being done but that does not work well with going back and forth between WiFi and mobile connection. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a TextView in my android application that has a set width on it. It's currently got a gravity of "center_horitonzal" and a set textSize (9sp). I pull values to put on this label from a sqlite database, and some of the values are too large to fit in the TextView at the current textSize.
Is there a way to detect that the text inside a TextView is going to be clipped? I'd like to detect this, and lower the font until it fits. There is a nice property in the iPhone UILabel that handles this called "adjustToFit" (which also has a minimum font size), and I'm basically trying to emulate that.

I am using the onScroll method of GestureDetector.SimpleOnGestureListener to scroll a large bitmap on a canvas. When the scroll has ended I want to redraw the bitmap in case the user wants to scroll further ... off the edge of the bitmap, but I can't see how to detect when the scroll has ended (the user has lifted his finger from the screen). e2.getAction() always seems to return the value 2 so that is no help.
e2.getPressure seems to return fairly constant values (around 0.25) until the final onScroll call when the pressure seems to fall to about 0.13. I suppose I could detect this reduction in pressure, but this will be far from foolproof.
I'm trying to write a code that can run on Android 1.5 and 2.0.1, but I have issues with the javascript engine used on Android 1.5. alert(localStorage); just hang on v1.5 while on v2.0.1 it alerts correctly. is there an unblocking way to do it or to detect the version of Android with javascript?
