Android :: Change SMS Ringtone Programatically From A Raw Resource
Mar 1, 2010I want to change SMS ringtone programatically from a raw resource but I don't find any example to do it.

I want to change SMS ringtone programatically from a raw resource but I don't find any example to do it.
I have a problem setting a ringtone from a resource in my app:
Uri uri = Uri.parse("android.resource://com.package.app/" + R.raw.sound1); RingtoneManager.setActualDefaultRingtoneUri(this, RingtoneManager.TYPE_RINGTONE, uri);
I've noticed also some people had the same problem but got no answers. Do any of you guys have any idea of how making this work? (without having to copy the file to the sdcard)
My fiance upgraded from LG Voyager to Droid 2. She wanted her old ringtones from the Verizon Media store so she downloaded them. When she stored them they were given default names. I was able to make the appropriate ringtone associations, except for voicemail. I have 2 questions:
1. How do you set a ringtone for voicemail? When I run the standard voicemail app (Verizon) I cannot being up a menu.
2. How do I change the name of a ringtone file?
Is it possible to change the language of an app programmatically while still using Android resources?
If not, is it possible to request a resource in an specific language?
I would like to let the user change the language of the app from the app.
After applying SRE v1.2.3 (…… SRE v1.2.3… | Root + OC 1.2GHz + MobileAP + USB Tether + LagFix - xda-developers), my notification ringtone sucks. I have changed it many times but it still plays the "cloud" ringtone. Any ideas?

It'll be pretty easy to put/store music/mp3 on your phone with an Android device I'm guessing. And, I would imagine it would be quite simple to set this sound as your ringtone.
Not to mention... you could set various sounds to various events such as an alarm clock tone, a tone when you press a button, a tone when people call you, etc...
Do you think this will CRUSH the ringtone marketers who are making tons of money at the moment selling tones on these closed devices?
I just upgraded my Samsung S4 I9505 to android 4.3. I having quite a lot of issue. My ringtone never change, always use system ringtone. Same goes to Notification. I found out my phone always hang for few seconds, the screen stuck. This all happen after i upgraded.

Using XmlPullParser, on the START_TAG, I can use:
int value = parser.getAttributeIntValue(null, "value", 0);
to get values 1, 2, 3...however:
int resourceId = parser.getAttributeIntValue(null, "resourceId", 0);
doesn't work...it just yields the default value 0, or whatever I change the default value (3rd parameter) to be. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or if this is possible?
I have mp3's saved on my SD card, but I cannot seem to figure out how to change my ring tone to one of them. Any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that when I have my headphones plugged in (but not in my ears) and the phone rings, the ring tone comes out of both (the phone and the headphones, which is fine) but it is not as loud out of the phone as when the headphones out not plugged in. If I pull the headphones out while its ringing the phone starts ringing almost twice as loud. Anyone know how I can make sure the phone will ring at full volume for those times when I forget to take my headphones out and put everything in pocket?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to set a new default ringtone without using the ringtone picker. In other words, there is a certain ringtone that is already installed on my system, and I want to programmatically set it to be my default ringtone without any human interaction. The reason I want this is because every time I reboot my N-1, my previous default ringtone setting gets forgotten, and I am given another ringtone that I don't like. I want to set up an app that I can run manually (or better yet, to cause to automatically run upon startup) which will reset my default ringtone to the one that I like without my having to manually do this via the Settings.
The only examples I have found so far for doing this involve using the ringtone picker, but as far as I can tell, this requires human interaction, which I want to avoid.
I purchased my moment about 2 weeks ago and have been having fun figuring it out however there are some areas where I am having problems.
1. When you want to attach a document it selects the picture folder/area, how do you browse instead of being forced into that area.
2. I downloaded ringtone app and have found the app quite useful, the problem I am having is, the ringtones I have created don't show up in all the ringtone areas of my phone, what needs to be done to correct this.
3. The basic user guide that comes with the phone says there is an app I can download called samsung new pc studio. When I call sprint or samsung they say this app is not available or can't be used by a casd(the u.s. standard, I think casd is right), they say this software is only for the other standard, I did find this app on the web. Is what sprint and samsung saying true if not can I use the ones I found on the web.
4. If you could choose only ten apps to have(free)which ones would you choose?
