I'd like to do step-by-step using eclipse-rcp, emulator and ddms.
I can see in DDMS perspective the thread of Helloworld example running.
I change perspective to debug and I set breakpoint, but the application doesn't stop.
I accepted that it was bug in Helios but I now find that I'm now getting the same error under Eclipse 3.5
When I send a location from the DDMS perspective using the emulator control tab. I have a standard listener:
onLocationChanged(Location location){...}
If I break on the first line of this, having sent the lat/lon pair of 53.5/-3.0 from the DDMS tab, then the mLatitude/mLongitude in the location argument have changed to 53.508833/-3.005000 (6 dec places only shown).
The Android SDK is 2.2 in both and the target is Google APIs level 7. Does anybody else experience this or could offer a possible explanation? (It amounts to quite a big error in terms of metres on the map.)
DDMS is not able to send location to the emulator. I have tried sending just the location from DDMS but still the emulator is not able to receive location. The application works properly in the device but its not able to capture location data in the emulator.I am testing on Android 2.2 emulator. Can anyone let me know what can be the issue?

I'm connected to the device and some commands works (window scale,...)If i try to simulate a gsm call then everything seems ok but i haven't anything on my emulator (nor incoming call nor notification) then if i launch an "gsm list" command my inbound call is listed and i can cancel it the same thing occurs with sms send everything seems ok (return OK) but there is no notification on the emulator nor sms in inbox :-(

Important : it has worked so i know it can work, but i would like to know why it doesn't work now ! Using ddms i don't see any trace on the log view.
I have a G1 and Windows 7. I just install the new sdk-r04 windows usb driver and java SE 1.6.0_17. I tried to start ddms and nothing. When i enter "adb devices" im getting this: List of devices attached completely empty. C:UsersRoy>adb get-state unknown.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two phones, one running 1.5 and the other on 1.6. When I connect the 1.6 device via usb, DDMS recognizes it and in the top-left pane shows: HT842....... | Online | 1.6, debug
It then lists the individual processes, I can select them and use various tools like allocation tracker.
But when I connect the 1.5 device, DDMS recognizes it but shows: HT95A....... | Online | 1.5
But it does not show any of the processes on the device, so I am not able to do use allocation tracker and such. The sysinfo tab works, and I can monitor logcat with filter and such in the bottom pane.
What am I missing here? Obviously the 1.5 device has USB debugging enabled. Why does it not show 'debug' in DDMS? I'm using SDK 1.5_r2 on linux (Ubuntu 9.04), if that makes a difference.
I'd like to check for memory leaks in my Android app using the DDMS feature in Eclipse. When I launch an emulated device, the threads display properly for the emulated device, starting with 8600 and up.
However, when I connect my Droid to the PC, the device shows up just fine in DDMS. The logcat is generated correctly, and I can view the file structure. However, threads do not display. I get "no client selected" in the Threads pane, and there is no drop-down icon next to the device listing.
Do I need to change some particular setting in Eclipse? Is this maybe a driver issue?
I encountered with a problem when I use DDMS to send mock gps location data . I checked out the source code of Android and make the latest version.Then put my test apk file of gps to the emulator and start DDMS, but when I use Emulator Control of DDMS to manually Button to send mock location data it says no GPS emulation in this virtual device. But the same apk file works fine in the SDK 1.0

I have created my database using sqliteman browser b/c I have to insert a bulk data before the app starts. I have four tables in my db and call each in different activities and created all on the sqliteman. after the data is inserted I pull back the db onto the data folder of the emulator. it works perfect on the emulator but failed on the device. when I try to pull my db on the real device, it shows access denied problem

Is it possible to change the emulator's behavior to create lock files somewhere in /tmp (using some hash of image path as lock file name)? I need to run several emulator instances to test my application. When i try to run instances using emulator -data <path> option, the emulator crashes.
I got a MS Visual Studio window informing that emulator throws a "unhandled win32 exception".
The exception message in the debugger (MS Visual Studio 2008) is: "Unhandled exception at 0x77c4706c in emulator.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x03216848"
The emulator runs normally without "-data" option.
I am getting the following error when I try running my program in the emulator:

I'm trying to get a list of folders in /data/data that starts with "totalcross". Is this possible? All i get is "permission denied". All these folders are signed with the same key and have the same user id.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just used this getDeviceId() to retrieve the unique id of the phone, but in the emulator it gives 00000000 when I try to display it. I know it makes sense to do that but can I spoof a device id for testing purposes. I need to setup about 4 -5 android devices in my emulator to check the functionality of the app that I have written, and the entire app revolves around the unique id of the mobile device. I just feel, maybe it should be there in the DDMS but I am not able to figure it out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to run the Android Hello Map View tutorial app on the Android emulator. The Google Map view displays, but the tiles are blank.
Judging by the errors below (taken from LogCat) the app is unable to connect to the internet. The web browser on the emulator connects without problems. I've also double-checked the API key.I'm using the 1.5 Google APIs SDK, from Eclipse Galileo, on Windows XP SP3, behind a corporate firewall. I've tried two methods to add proxy information:Add -http-proxy http://www.foo.co.uk:80 to Additional Emulator Command Line Options in the Target Page in Debug Configurations.
Remove settings in 1. and add proxy information at Home > Menu > Settings > Wireless Controls > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.

I am trying to run the application Maps which is built in the emulator, i just get a grids and no map. i did set the permissions of internet and fine and coarse, also got the apiKey too. I have looked into this http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3764 , so has there been no solution yet to run the Maps under proxy?

I'm using the signature of the eclipse debug key when running on the emulator, but this won't work when I build a release version. I think I need to have a check to see if I'm running on a real device, and set it to the real release key at that time.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using the 1.5 SDK. I read in 1.0 that rotating the device would cause onCreate() to be called in our apps (possibly recreating the entire app?). Is there a way to test rotating the device in the emulator? I just want to see what happens, I don't have a device to test this. Will the behavior be the same for 1.5 as it was in 1.0?
