I have a HTC tattoo and my mate's got the HTC Hero.
We are trying to find out how to backup the phones before installing ROM updates.
The main thing we need backing up would be the contacts/messages and email but it would also be nice to have a backup of the applications to save all the time its going to take finding/downloading and reinstalling them?
Whats the best way to back up the phone's?

My Evo has been selectively updating my apps for the last two weeks.10 total so far. The market version I have is 1.82 and according to the market troubleshooting page the current version is 2.07 for anyone OVER Android 1.6. So is that my problem? I know its supose to auto update but I tried to force it by doing what the troubleshooting page says and nothing, still on 1.82. The only thing that seems to fix this is to uninstall then install it like its new. I've already lost progress on one game and don't feel like doing that again. Any suggestions? Sprint is no help cuz its a market issue.

Very irritating information pop up box that will stay there smack in the middle of the screen even after clicking the "ok" box. This phone is a real lemon. Android market? Will all my paid for apps still be available to me after update? Are all my installed apps memorized by the market? So finally what's the difference between Mybackup and Sprite backup or is there a better one that someone wants to recommend? My phone is not rooted and its not something I want to try at the moment.
Just updated my xperia x10 to the new 2.1 op. Followed the installation to the letter, backed up my files using the new backup n restore etc, updated it n then began the restore, now this is the frustration part. i did everything SE said to do even did 2 backups but when i try to restore it takes ages n then says could not complete. not only have i lost all contacts but more frustrating i have lost all my apps, both paid and free. my Google account seems to be wrong although i cant really remember it, tried to get the user name/password sent to my hotmail but seems to of created a new account n i don't have these "links to re-downloads" ur android apps. please need help big time cause m just ready stuck and frustrated.

But I cannot find nandroid back up like I have on my phone when I boot in to recovery mode? I want to make a backup just in case, Plus On that site it says
"Install by copying the BDS-20100308-1659 to your SD cards Nandroid folder"
So I guess I need the nandroid folder.
So I'm wondering about the best way to backup apps and data before installing new roms since it usually involves a full system+data wipe. Right now I use Titanium Backup and then restore all user apps when I have the new Rom loaded. While this works pretty well, I still have to go back and change all my settings, set up my accounts, etc. Shouldn't there be some way to preserve this data? Also very frustrating is that I have to re add all my widgets in Launcherpro. Any way to get a real backup of that too? The process isn't too bad right now, but as more and more Roms come for the droid x, I'd rather not have to repeat the setup process every time.

Immediately afterward, I found that sound files (mp3s, etc.) would suddenly quit after playing for thirty or forty seconds. I hastily uninstalled Mixzing, only to find that every music player I try now produces the same result. Has anyone else experienced this? How would you go about troubleshooting without reverting to your last backup, if possible?

It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

Can I install a new kernel (like rage kernel) without having to install the rom (CM9) again? It will work just replacing the kernel?
When i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

For doing this i've implemented a BackupAgent in my code and i included this in the Android Manifest file and "Meta-data" ( Got after registered my Application's package with the Android Backup Service.) I know this may sound simple but am under the impression that when you make a backup of your ROM and other files on your device, it has to stay on the device.
When making a NANDROID backup, is it safer and more useful if one can store those backups on one's computer ?
Am sure there's a way to do this but am not sure if there's already an app for it.
I don't know why I feel like it might be a conflict with apps organizer? I have the pay version, just got it, but my app list is empty. I can't back anything up or freeze anything.

BUT, I have never been able to find the backup file for Titanium Backup. I realize they can just download it from the Market, but where I work I get no service so I can't download it for hours for them.
Does AppControl or even Titanium Backup itself actually back up Titanium Backup? It seems almost like they skip over the APK because I can never find any backed up APK files that have the words "Titanium" or "Backup" in it. I've never been able to find the file!
I DLed Titanium Backup, but it wasn't obtaining root access. I read here that I probably need to update to a newer version of BB. After a bit of a fight, I finally managed to get BB 0.4 onto my Droid. I figured I was safe b/c I have Lookout, which also backs up data. Yeah, it backs up contacts and pix, that's it. So here I am w/ a nice, shiny new rom, and a completely wiped phone.
Now, I know my old info is still there. I know I could just recover into my last version. But then I wouldn't be on this rom. Is there any way for me to get that info on here, or do I have to do everything manual? Or could I restore the old version, and not need to do a wipe when flashing the new rom?

Rooted DInc then removed some apps like city id. I had purchased some apps before I rooted and I was curious as to first, how and where do I backup using titanium backup? Second, say if I factory reset my phone then put the paid apps back on would it still recognize that I already paid and still give new updates? Also side question, if I remove friendstream will facebook still sync with the facebook app and sync photos my phone book?

Anyone know if I release a test version of my app to some BETA testers without publishing it on the market, and later publish it on the market with an updated version number, if the BETA testers will then get a notification from the market that there is a new version available?

Per say, I've Smart Keyboard Pro, and I know there's new updated version out but unless I buy the App again, I won't get it. How do you get updates on Applications like these and other?
