I was thinking about rooting my Nexus 5 and instaling CM 11 on it. The only thing that stops me is the data I have on my phone. I don't want to lose everything when I instal CM, so any good backup facilities which can backup my games progress, pictures and stuff like that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI do nothing and once a day I see a new app is installed on my phone.I made a factory reset, then installed only a couple of the most important apps. After that, a month later, it began again. Is it a virus? I don't know, because I install "Avast!" - no warninds, then "Lookout" - it also says no malware is found. The programs it installs look fine, they are not malware at all. What should I do now? Should I report to any antivirus company?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSome apps seem to install to internal memory by default, and some to sd card if one is present.
Even more annoyingly however, many of the apps that default to SD card if you move them to internal memory MOVE BACK TO THE SD CARD when you update them.
Is there any way to prevent apps from automatically installing to the SD card? Or at the very least, installing to SD card is fine... but to prevent them from moving BACK to the sd card when you update them?
Over the past week I have had the following apps apparently install themselves or be be installed by another app or program, approximately one every day without my express permission:
Big Fish Casino by Big Fish GamesSimple Email Share by App FireMinesweeper by App FireDaily Funny Videos by App FireSimple Email Share by App FireMax Web Search Pro by App FireDownload Manager by App Fire
They appear in my Droid RAZR MAXX HD phone, Kindle Fire HD+ tablet and My Apps on Google Play Store. In an effort to track down the source, I have installed and used: Lookout Ad Network Detectoravast! MobilePermission Explorer
I have not been able to determine what app or apps are causing this. It may also come from my home office PC, but security scans find nothing there either.
I tried modifying build.prop to show as a Nexus S and a I9300 and device(Mele A2000 media player) does show as the modified model but still showing the App I'm trying to install as incompatible, and btw the App I'm trying to install is USB/BT Joycenter that I bought and does work for my I9300, so is there anything else I need to edit to get this working?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am planning to buy my son and daughter the new nexus 7 for for education purposes, they are 6 and 7 respectively, so their frontal lobe is not yet developed to make sound judgement. It is against both our family code and kyokushin oath to engage in sloth, and I certainly don't want to buy them a device that would do more damage and good.
I have discussed this with my wife that the only condition we going to buy to the tablet is that we can be sure that no gaming app ever can be installed. If I let my children sign in with their own gmail account into the nexus 7, is their parental control that I can set up that would notify me that gaming apps have been installed on their account or better block all game apps?
If all else fails, I'll just have to periodically check the tablets for gaming apps.
I'm about to flash Paranoid Android on my GB Note, installing PA is good, but when it comes to gApps, it loads and then stop and says cannot open in sd, aborted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've have a Nexus 7 2012 running 4.3. On a clean install, the running apps tab in the settings showed Used RAM equal to 450 MB.
After installing some apps, now the Used RAM shows to be 560 MB. I haven't installed apps that throw push ads or run background processes. I do have some free apps that show ads though.
I tried to stop cached processes an d running processes, bur that increased the RAM use. Even app ops doesn't list all my apps. Is there any way I can reduce this RAM usage?
I have used many mods that swips internal memory by the external memory and vise versa..
So everything worked perfectly but installing apps no longer work.. When I install an app it says app not installed..
BUT installing apps through Play Store works perfectly as it should..
My device: Galaxy Note 2 running CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies ..
When i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

Android market? Will all my paid for apps still be available to me after update? Are all my installed apps memorized by the market? So finally what's the difference between Mybackup and Sprite backup or is there a better one that someone wants to recommend? My phone is not rooted and its not something I want to try at the moment.
I have a HTC tattoo and my mate's got the HTC Hero.
We are trying to find out how to backup the phones before installing ROM updates.
The main thing we need backing up would be the contacts/messages and email but it would also be nice to have a backup of the applications to save all the time its going to take finding/downloading and reinstalling them?
Whats the best way to back up the phone's?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy main phone is my new HTC Sensation, and I have all my regular apps installed on there (via the Android market, using my Google account).
My old phone - Rooted HTC Hero - I keep as a spare, and use only when I am travelling overseas, to put a local SIM Card into.
My question is, can I install apps on the spare phone on an ad-hoc basis, without using my regular Google account?
Ideally, downloading .apk files for Android market apps?
As it's only a spare, and mainly used for voice not data, i don't really want all the same apps as on my main phone, just some of them -things like Go SMS, JuiceDefender, etc
Also currently, the plan I have with the local SIM card I'm currently using has no data - only voice. So apart from connecting it via my laptop, I could only install apps using free wifi.
I might need to reset my phone to factory settings, contacts, and calendar is with google so thats easy, but I dont want to go through and have to manually redownload all my apps AND THEN reorganize them.
Is there an app // a backup method that backs up your apps and their layout?
I have My Backup Pro on my phone for my backup app. I am wondering if I restore and app from the backup is it like restoring it from scratch or is it better to reinstall an app directly from the Google Play Store?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had upgraded my Galaxy Gio from stock rom to custom rom (CM 7.2 based), and now I want to restore just a few apps + data (for e.g. Memo) and Contacts (from stock rom) from my Nandroid backup, so I want it should be on the current custom rom.
How far I tried to do so, I could'nt get it done. I tried with NANDROID MANAGER, I installed it and tried to restore some apps + their data, (the apps was in previous rom in System/Apps so Nandroid Manager automatically wanted to install it in system/apps), ok, the program showed as it's installed with no broblems, BUT after reboot as it required, NOTHING HAPPENED, so I looked in system/apps and data/data with root explorer, those apps & data were there, but it was not installed.....
I also tried to restore the Contacts from Nandroid (Contacts Storage), and I ended up with erasing all contacts I had currently on the phone (anyway that wasn't a problem, cause i had an regular backup of it).
So I would like to understand what the problem is, and how is it possible to have my previous memos and contacts restored to my current rom?
I just wanted to know is there a way to backup apps and the data manually
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm getting an "insufficient storage" error on installing apps from Google Play (even small 6mb apps). I find if i delete several apps and run it again it works (there is apparently 470MB free despite this).
I've seen references to changing settings so that Google Play installs to the SD card but cant figure out which apply here. And also to clearing the cache for applications (in the TWRP app perhaps?).
I've run the jmz script from the Nabi 2 root thread, but I think I'm missing a step or two (although apps do in fact install, which they wouldn't before).
I am a Hero user, So sorry I do not know all so much about the Driod. But I am working of a friends phone and want to install a custom ROM. Thinking of going with this one.
[ROM] 2.1 ESE53 - DesireRemix v0.1 - Overclocked Kernel
But I cannot find nandroid back up like I have on my phone when I boot in to recovery mode? I want to make a backup just in case, Plus On that site it says
"Install by copying the BDS-20100308-1659 to your SD cards Nandroid folder"
So I guess I need the nandroid folder.
So I'm wondering about the best way to backup apps and data before installing new roms since it usually involves a full system+data wipe. Right now I use Titanium Backup and then restore all user apps when I have the new Rom loaded. While this works pretty well, I still have to go back and change all my settings, set up my accounts, etc. Shouldn't there be some way to preserve this data? Also very frustrating is that I have to re add all my widgets in Launcherpro. Any way to get a real backup of that too? The process isn't too bad right now, but as more and more Roms come for the droid x, I'd rather not have to repeat the setup process every time.
