I always noticed that "Market" app downloads sat for a long time in the "Downloads" queue, hung at "Starting download...", but the download would eventually start. Now that I changed countries and removed the SIM card, downloads don't work at all. They always hang at "Starting download". It isn't a networking problem, as search works and a different set of apps is visible (probably related to the country switch).

I'm on the Orange network and am having problems with the 3G network. Various apps (Facebook, Market, Head to Head & Internet Browser) will only download data when there is a connection to the HSDPA signal.
The 3G signal has shown as 3 or 4 bars but will consistently not download any data. Once the HSDPA signal is found, then the download starts. This can be frustrating as there isn't always a HSDPA signal.
How do I delete Downloads from My Download list in Android Market that are no longer needed.

When user starts downloading my application should track download start time and when download completes I want to get end time and size of data downloaded.

Q2. If multiple downloads happening I want to get record of both downloads separately.
Q3. I need to get from which url Download is happening. Or Is it happening from any app like Google play store.
Implementing a service to handle connection changes and downloads. The service handles a queue of AsyncTasks, each representing a "download task". This way, we can cancel/pause tasks when connection drops, and also restore them when connection is reestablished. Since the threads AsyncTasks are run are not deterministic, how many ATs should I execute() at the same time?
I've read that I shouldn't reuse tasks. How can I achieve this pause->resume functionality then? Should I tell the thread to sleep? Should I make a no-op while if connection is down? I was trusting the cancel(true) method, which I've read is not reliable either.
My main DownloadTask is a subclass of AsyncTask that returns a new AsyncTask to be called when the connection is restored.
I have been looking around for a solution but didnt find one. I have some paid apps that I got on the Android Market. They were TERRIBLE. I uninstalled them and am now trying to get them to get off my "My Downloads" section of the android market. I know that free apps are supposed to go away after time but that isnt always happening. Anyone have any ideas besides clearing Market Cache? Tried that and didnt work.

Several sites which hold these files seem to use something called index.php to get the download started and the phone simply says can't open this file. This seems pretty basic so am I missing something, did the developers deliberately not support this or is it just very hard to do on this sort of platform?

I am performing several https posts and http downloads from two different servers using AsyncTasks. The connections are fairly quick but I'm surprised to see that they are running synchronously instead of in parallel.
To be more explicit, here is pseudo-code for what's happening when I initiate a call to AsyncTask1():

I've got an HTC Desire & downloaded a few apps/widgets from the market today. They seem to have downloaded ok and I can see them sitting in the 'downloads' tab of the market...but how do I actually get them from here onto my device to use them?
(Things I've tried...clicking on them in 'downloads' just shows more info on them and clicking install just re-downloads them, longholding just brings up info about them, I can't find a 'downloads' folder on my mobile, they aren't appearing with the other widgets or programs, adding the market on my mobile just links me back to the market homepage...i cant see anything in the user manual or learn more sections that is of help on this - they both say to go to all programs and my downloads but I don't have a my downloads just downloads section in the market which doesn't seem to move them to my device?).
I have a brand-new HTC Desire in front of me, and cannot get a couple of functions to work properly (yet), as for instance the facebook and mail widgets. I figured out that it would be a good start to get the newest versions of all those applications and widgets that make trouble, but when I try downloading anything using Android Market, the downloads get stuck at "Starting download...", apparently indefinitely. I have seen that others had this problem too, but I could not find a solution yet.

When I install the application onto my phone, it downloads the file correctly and loads the information, no exceptions thrown or anything. However, when I upload the apk into the Android Market Place and download it onto the phone, the application downloads the database and then crashes, saying that the sqlite handler was not able to open up the database.

I am trying to download a couple of apps from the Android market (not at the same time) and they are going painfully slow, if at all. They are showing in the 'currently downloading' frame but don't appear to be doing anything. I am using wifi to download the apps and I have never had an issue before. Could anyone help?

Steps to change Title. Go to Developer Console->click link for the app->Look for Listing Details-> Change the Title ->click Save
I have an application published in marketplace and its not updating the active users/number of downloads on the phone display or the developer console. My other application appears to be fine. Anyone else seeing this? Also when the application was uploaded over the weekend there were issues with setting the location targeting. I could not restrict it to US only.

The update worked perfectly with no problems on my N1, but I'm getting emails from users telling me that the only way they can open my app is from their Downloads page in the Android Market app. I have no clue what could be causing this behavior.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night all of a sudden my phone rebooted itself in my pocket. (not the first time) but after turning back on it throws this error at me com.sec.android.providers.downloads has stopped unexpectedly with a force close. Now every time I reboot it it comes up with the same error. Also it reset some of the factory settings (my internet browser got reset as well as my background and my alarms). Now everything is somewhat back to normal other then every reboot after I get that error my browser gets reset and I cannot download anything off there anymore (like pictures).
I have the Bell Vibrant not rooted or anything. 2.1 with a bunch of normal apps.
