View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using various ROMs (including various Xposed modules) in the past and most of them allow me to auto-hide the status bar.But whenever I swipe down from the top and the statusbar is displayed, it resizes the entire content on my phone.
What I was looking for is a statusbar that will show up above the content, like the immersive mode in KitKat but for JB so it doesn't resize my content but overlap it.
I know there are some apps that give you this kind of auto-hide status bar but it will only work in fullscreen apps, so I tried to make everything on my phone full screen (using expanded desktop) but it doesn't seem to work...
I've been using Go SMS Pro recently mostly since it can display emoji. But i've noticed one really annoying thing is how the keyboard auto hides every time i send a text. Is there any way of preventing this from happening?
I'm running ICS on a galaxy nexus, the keyboard im using is swiftkey X.
Any way to do this? its really annoying that it stays open.
I am on cm10 using the stock keyboard
So I just got the Swype beta, and I have a small problem. If I ever decide to cancel typing (say I have text input open and the Swype keyboard is covering the bottom half of my screen) the keyboard stays open and I have to tap home again for it to disappear. Are there any workarounds for this or is it simply because its beta? I noticed that even if I revert back to the default Sense keyboard it does the same thing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedStarting today, when I dock my phone into my multimedia dock, it automatically goes into USB connect mode. I myself have not manually made this change nor install any software that knowingly does this. What I did install yesterday was WinAmp beta, YouTube from market (although everytime I look at my downloads, youtube still says its downloading) ADW Theme found yesterday on DroidLife (which was a waste).
View 5 Replies View RelatedHere's another one in my quest for customization using the multimedia dock. Unfortunately, I have sub-par VZ service in many parts of my house. I'm considering the Wireless Extender ($249 - ouch), but until I make that call, I've been manually forwarding my cell phone to my home phone line.
Question: would there be a way to set up a script or functionality that would tell the Droid to forward to home when in dock and un-forward when taken out of the dock. Might be kinda cool. I think one of the mobile companies used to sell a dock that did just this in the early 2000s.
Is there any widget to quickly toggle on/off sending the own number when calling somebody?

I cannot find any information on how to change or hide the background image.
I just got this app called Android Taskbar which is a widget that adds a taskbar type window for your homescreen. Its pretty nifty so far, but honestly, it'd look so much better if I could add this widget button that opens the taskbar/start menu onto my dock. I'm running LauncherPro Plus, and it doesn't allow widget buttons on the dock.

Anybody having problems with bringing up the Multimedia Dock Widget/App
I have an ezstand and it is supposed to activate the home dock with a magnet...however it is very intermittent with mint.
Also, I actually see an error when the dock screen comes up (something like "Problem with loading Multimedia App"
I am guessing I might somehow have a bad version of the multimedia dock widget.. but cant seem to find a way to locate it to perhaps reinstall?
Anyone know how to get rid of a widget that has somehow found its way behind my dock so I cannot get to it to move it? I use LauncherPro+.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to know if a developer has the ability to choose not to display the permissions needed for an app they create. For an example if there is a note taking app in the market that says no permissions needed, but in reality, it does have "internet access"capabilities not shown to the user/downloader, Is it possible for App permissions to be hidden and not displayed to the user? Can someone explain to me the process on assigning and displaying permissions on android apps?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI defined an application which is only used from my other application. So I would like to hide the icon of this application, so that the user can't see it on the desktop of his phone (or how do you call the thing where all apps are listed?). My manifest file looks the following way:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="xyz.games.pacman.controller" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0">
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH"/>
<application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name">
<activity android:name=".PacmanGame" android:label="@string/app_name" android:screenOrientation="portrait"> <intent-filter>
<action android:name="pacman.intent.action.Launch" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
</intent-filter> </activity>
<receiver android:name="xyz.games.pacman.network.MessageListener">
<intent-filter> <action android:name="xyz.games.pacman.controller.BROADCAST" />
</intent-filter> </receiver> </application> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="7" /> </manifest>
I already read this question:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1063604/how-to-hide-an-application-icon-in-android-emulator
But if I just remove the line
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
in my manifest, the activity isn't working at all (ActivityNotFoundException in the calling activity). I already tried android.intent.category.EMBEDDED but this doesn't work too. In the Internet I found CommonsWare answer http://osdir.com/ml/Android-Developers/2010-06/msg03617.html that it can be done using PackageManager. Unfortunately, it isn't explained how exactly and I couldn't find a solution by browsing the PackageManager API.

i have an HTC Incredible. when i was using a Moto Droid i was using GDE with it. one thing i really liked from GDE was the scrolling application dock widgets. i would simply use GDE on my Inc but i do also like sense and all of the sense widgets. it would be great if somebody, or even the maker of GDE would make an app that is just like the application dock from GDE that would work on any launcher including sense.i've looked at Ultimate Faves and it's nothing like it. there was something kinda similar that i had tried but it wasn't close enough. it had buttons instead of just dragging and scrolling.

View 4 Replies View RelatedInteresting thing is that I was playing around with the Car Dock app and decided to add some Favorite Tel Numbers to that screen you see after hitting the Call Button. I added one favorite and it was fine, however I added a second favorite and the screen closed and now when I click on the Calling button in the Car Dock app it does nothing. I am not even sure if this is something I can reinstall as I can't find it in the Market. With Android can you delete an app such as this and reinstall it? I am guessing that would be my fix. I definitely don't want to do a factory reset. Can I somehow delete the data file associated with that app to clean things up. Sorry I have experience with OS but I am new to Android. Just picked up the Droids when it came out and am really loving it up to this point. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering, is there anyway a developer can hide or exclude a certain app permissions from being seen by Android market users? And are the permissions for an app controlled or regulated by Google? Another question I have - Is there anyway to restrict PDF files from opening in the default browser? This is a problem when I am on a search engine and accidentally click a link that's a pdf file- I don't want pdf's downloaded without asking me permission atleast. And my last question, is there a way to view current extensions that are installed in the browser.? Where is androids inbuilt file manager? Does uninstalling an application completely take off everything related to that app from your phone?
