The above code is my manifest for my project i get the error "Tag <activity> missing required attribute name." on lines 7, 15 and 16. ive been trying to renew the file but i get the same errors i am currently using SDK 1.5 mn3 maybe.

I keep getting this when trying to start a new project

I tried changing preferences to alter build path to project, but it still wouldnt work,,,
Is subfolder on desktop a bad place to install Eclipse?
Did a fresh install of Eclipse, JDK and android-sdk.

EDIT: I tried most of you solutions, but nothing worked. So I started using my frineds install of Eclipse Ganymeade.
In the android manifest on the first line "" I'm getting an error marker (with a red X). When I mouse over the red x it says- "Manifest attribute 'minSdkVersion' is set to '2.1'. Integer is expected."

But it doesn't seem to be working. It just says the location isn't found, which can happen if there are no permissions to read/write to the location.
I just created a simple application, that starts the Dial Activity and place a call. I did not provide any permission in the manifest file to start a call, but still the call activity starts. I also checked the AndroidManifest.xml file, there is no permission added, still the activity starts.

Now I have a broadcast receiver which has been registered through manifest file and not through the java code, and need to unregister the broadcast receiver from the java code. Since this, i think would need a reference to System context that instantiates the broadcast receiver.

I am trying to play file which is stored in SDCARD in emulator. I have Linux O/S. So i need to provide command in run configuration. I am providing following parameter.

I downloaded android and followed the instructions provided in this website ( http://source.android.com/download )! but i am unable to launch the android emulator. please find the following error

About installation of apk file in my android phone.
I am using htc android phone in that i am trying to install my application.
I developed application using eclipse ADT plugin and taken apk file and copied in my phone SD card -> Android folder.
After that i installed Astro file manager in my phone and trying to browse my apk file but still i unable to find Android folder and my apk file in the Astro file manager.
Using eclipse 3.4.1 and also 3.5 and I cannot seem to add a new layout .xml file.I tried adding it externally using windows explorer, but got all these errors.

I have gone through the previous thread on this error, And I have already tried following suggestion : 1. Add maps.jar with Google API 2. and also mention the <uses-library> attribute in manifest file.
But still I am unable to launch the activity, in logcat it is showing that package <package name> requires unavailable shared library com.google.android.maps ; Ignoring.

Case 1: i.e. if I do the following, it works fine...

Everything is OK.
Case 2: But suppose I have a main.xml file with a TextView in it and I try the following:

I am trying out the HelloWorld example. I get an error when I want to create the strings.xml file: when I open the already default string.xml file in the project I get the error: An error has occurred. See error log for more details. java.lang.NullPointerException

I have created the Client-Server application. At the Server site i have used the AIDL to impliment the interfaces in my Service class. At Client site i have exposed the AIDL interfaces and have one Activity that mainly do the IPC mechanism , i mean ServiceConnection, bindService and then call the Serivce of the Client site. But i am getting the error i mentioned during the bindService call.
Could you please let me know the steps mainly i have to follow to run the Client -Server Application. For time being i am running the Client .apk first and then the Server .apk, but the server one giving me error.
It would be great if you could let me know what all permission short of thing to take care, as my Client and Server code are placed at different APks, so do i need to import the Client project in my Server Project, if yes then how to impliment that.
I have uploaded my application's .apk file to a server. When i try to download that .apk file to my android HTC HERO phone then it gives error saying "file size cannot be determined". I also enabled settings to "allow install of non-Market applications" in my HTC HERO. I would like to write a file to the SD card from my application, but the following code throws an IOException when debugged on a T-Mobile G1:

The last line throws an IOException with detailMessage = "Cannot create: /sdcard/log.txt". The MOUNT_UNMOUNT_FILESYSTEMS permission is set in the manifest. And yes, I really do want to write to the SD card; I don't want to use the logging features Android includes for this particular application. The Android documentation does not seem to give any specifics on how one might write files to removable storage in "Data Storage" under "Framework Topics". What am I doing wrong, or where can I read more about this topic?
I am staring to learn android, I have done everything as mentioned in the guide, and I tried the hello android example.
But I just can´t open the main.xml file to edit, it give me this error: Could not initialize class java.awt.Font. I am on linus kde.

Market does not accept apk signed with the debug certificate. Create a new certificate that is valid for atleast 50 years. Market requires that the certificated used to sign the apk be Valid until at least October 22, 2033. Create a new Certificate. how do able to upload the APK file on Android market successfully.
