Android :: Error Creating File On SD Card

Apr 1, 2009

I would like to write a file to the SD card from my application, but the following code throws an IOException when debugged on a T-Mobile G1:

String p = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() + "/log.txt"; File recfile = new File(p); recfile.createNewFile();

The last line throws an IOException with detailMessage = "Cannot create: /sdcard/log.txt". The MOUNT_UNMOUNT_FILESYSTEMS permission is set in the manifest. And yes, I really do want to write to the SD card; I don't want to use the logging features Android includes for this particular application. The Android documentation does not seem to give any specifics on how one might write files to removable storage in "Data Storage" under "Framework Topics". What am I doing wrong, or where can I read more about this topic?

Android :: Using Merge With Layouts Giving Error For One File

Sep 28, 2010

I am creating a few layouts with the root element being merge. inside the merge element i have a ScrollView containing a TextView. I am getting 2 errors: there is no resource to match the layout_below and layout above names i have put in.I have another layout xml file including very similar components, some of which also reference @id/headingLayout and @id/tabsLayout. Both of these XML layout files do not contain the component with name headingLayout or tabsLayout. Why is it that one layout file has no errors about these references and the other layout file does? What the crap am i doing wrong, the app will build and run like i expect, until i add this merge to another layout?I have even tried copying the xml from the working layout file, to find that it gives the same errors, something must be wrong with my new layout file. I have tried cleaning, rebuilding, opening/closing eclipse..

Android : Dolphin Browser Server Error - 404 - File Or Directory Not Found

Oct 3, 2010

I have the default home page for the app, and let's say for example I start to type facebook. Under where I type it comes up with the usual predictions, like facebook login, facebook news, etc. But the top one is usually a link to the exact URL (in this case to facebook) but whenever I click one of those links, I get a page that says:

"Server Error

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

Is there anyway to get these links to work? Or get rid of them all together so I don't accidentally click them.

Samsung I7500 :: Error Msg When Transferring File

Feb 24, 2010

I had yesterday received the Samsung Galaxy I7500 from Optus, and have today been playing around with it.

Right now, I am attempting to transfer files to the phone from the PC via the USB cable, so that I can have custom ringtone & notification sounds.

I have mounted the device using the phone so I can access the internal memory via Windows Explorer, and have made the 2 folders (notifications + ringtones), however when I transfer the file, it STARTS to transfer then the device disconnects and I get the following error message:

Error Msg.jpg

I have noticed that the first 5 or 10 seconds of the music transfer successfully before it gets cutoff...

I have tried to use NPS to try transfer the file (using the Media Manager), which appears to transfer the file fine, but those songs I transfer across does not even appear in the "Music" Application that the phone came with.

I have also tried to transfer (via Windows Explorer) other file types eg a PDF file but they also cause the device to disconnect...

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit edition - I do not know if this is causing some sort of problem with the device?

Android :: Bizarre Conversion To Dalvik Format Error Caused By Google Chrome APK File Lock

Jul 20, 2010

I have a small test Android Project used to test the MediaPlayer class.

For this project, usually after a few builds, the compiler gives this exception:

Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1

I've narrowed this down to Google Chrome locking the generated .apk file (in /bin). So, the build is unable to remove that APK to rebuild.

Sure enough, quitting Chrome, solves the issue.

This is bizarre, isn't it! Why would Google Chrome be grabbing a lock on that file?

I have never had this error with any of my other projects.
