View 4 RepliesFor some reason, I haven't been getting vm notifications, nor visual vm messages. I dialed in the old way and I had like 12 messages. I'm pretty stock, except for root and mobile AP. Is there something wrong with my epic, or my account? Or is no a good time to figure out what Google Voice is all about?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I attempt to set my voicemail greeting, it first asks me to set a 4-7 digit password, then hit #. If I hit # without entering digits, it says "# is not recognized". The user manual clearly states "Sprint recommends you set a password, otherwise anyone who finds your phone can access your voicemail." That implies you don't have to set a password. So how do I tell it I don't want a password, and let me move on to the greeting recording?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know I could send calls straight to voicemail on my Samsung Moment, is there any way to do it with the Epic? I cannot figure it out, and I've got some people I really don't want to talk to that cannot take a hint.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having issues with the volume and or quality of visual voicemail? I can hardly hear any of my messages when using visual Voice Mail. However if I call my voicemail, volume and quality are fine. Obviously something is getting lost when your voice mail is getting routed through a data connection.
View 6 Replies View Relatedwell at 4:16 pm EST 11-27 I got this message that tells me there is a "mandatory update"
I dont want to do it simply because it says "mandatory" where do they get off telling me that some update is mandatory and not even supply a change log or anything telling me what it is
I need to know what this is before I update in case it makes something suck or breaks something - this is why I hacked my Palm Pre because the webos updates screwed up something and I had to root it and edit some file to prevent the updates from happening, Palm didnt give you an choice, after a couple of times it would apply it anyways even if you didnt want it, I dont want this to happen here so do I have to root my epic just to prevent things like this?
I use google voice voicemail anyways so why do I even get this message
Sort of two things which might be related. I've been having call quality issues with this phone since I got it. I thought it sounded very electronic and could hardly stay on the phone. Took it to a Sprint store and they did a soft reset and said they couldn't duplicate the issue. I made some calls, some said it sounded better. As long as I have the volume turned down it seems to be okay. But then it's hard to hear what they are saying. If I turn up the volume it sounds like someone is yelling too loudly too close to a microphone. Like bad speakers rattling or something (especially with "s" sounds).
On my headset which was $100 and worked so well on my old phone (people couldn't even tell I was on a headset) the person on the other side either says it's "okay" or says they can definitely tell I'm distant, to one friend saying it was "awful." When listening to Visual Voice Mail it's awful sound, regardless of the volume. Want to try to get a new phone, but then worried I'll have one of the other issues everyone else is having (WiFi or GPS or whatever).
Got my daughter the Samsung Epic this morning and grabbed a case and the home dock for it. Hate the fact that you have to remove the back of the case to plug it into the home dock and the fact that it sets the ringer volume to mute every time I plug it in, not to mention the fact that the external speaker option for the dock won't go active until the phone is updated to Android 2.2. Now that my mini rant is over, I do actually have a question, anyone know what you need to do to get the weather stuff to come up on the Desk Home screen when that software is active, I am having no luck at all. There is no option for it anywhere and the auto magic stuff must be broken. It clearly shows weather info available on all the pics and stuff Samsung has shown off and I would kind of like it to be there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if someone could explain how to forward a telephone # directly to voicemail? I tried googling this but the steps I found are not working (i.e. no option appears in my contact page to forward the #)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI come from the Samsung Moment where there was an option to send specific callers/contacts directly to voicemail without the phone ringing. I've been messing with my new Epic, but can not find this feature for the life of me. Surely it's there somewhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAm I blind, or is there no way to do this? I'm used to setting my ringer volume only, and expecting new voicemail or text message notifications to be the same volume!
View 18 Replies View RelatedEven if i choose the same ringtone for some reason the notification volume is way lower then an incoming call volume. even with all my volumes turned up. is this suppose to be like this? the guy at sprint couldn't turn it up either.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having is when ever I set a default notification tone it plays good and loud when I test it but when I actually get a text the volume drops below half making it very hard to hear the phone when ever I get a text. Is there a reason its doing this? I have the notification all the way up and it still drops when I get a text. At first I thought it was a issuse with handcent sms but its doing it with the default messaging app as well. Is anyone else having this problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust picked this up yesterday and I'm very impressed. This is my first droid phone and it blows away the other phones I've owned in the past. Not really a fan of the iPhone and have been on AT&T forever..it's time for a change. My last phone was a Nokia E72 which is a great phone, but wanted more! Gonna put that on E-bay soon hah.
The only complaints I have so far are the notification sounds are quiet even at the max volume setting. The Nokia E72 is a lot louder both in ringtone and sms tones. Also, the four buttons on the bottom sometimes don't respond. I find I have to occasionally hit the same button a couple times to get it to work. Very minor tho imo. It's not too frequent.
Okay, so i feel stupid asking this, but can't find it anywhere in the manual or google. what is the hole next to the volume rocker for?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make the ringtone volume and notification volume the same? When I turn the ringer volume down using the side buttons on my phone it only turns the ringer down, nothing else. I'm coming from the Evo where you can click "use same volume for both" or something to that effect. Is this a 2.2 thing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedEven with stock earbuds, the Epic's lowest volume setting is hot enough to cause hearing damage if used over long periods of time, particularly if the style of music being listened to isn't classical and has a continuous loud dynamic level.
With higher quality earbuds like the Etymotic HF2, UE Superfi 5vi and Shure E4c (all of which I've tried), the lowest setting becomes unbearably loud.
Since the music player and system adjust the same exact level, there's no way to affect the gain structure of the Epic, which means that better earphones become painful to listen to -- which is a shame, since the Epic sounds good out of the box and benefits from the upgrade.
Does anyone know of a different music player or app that allows you to adjust the volume to lower levels than the system volume currently provides?
Is there an app or widget that will turn off the alert volume at set times? I need to keep my phone on at all times, but the notifications wake me up. I only need the ringer on. I just want an easy way to turn off the notifications and alerts rather than having to open up the options every night.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNot crazy about the placement of the power button. Is there a way to remap the volume or camera buttons to wake the phone? And yes, I've seen the "No lock" thread, but I still want the phone to be somewhat difficult to accidentally unlock. What would be perfect would be a double click of one of the other buttons to waken and unlock the phone. Is this possible? Maybe it's a root thing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedOnly happens once in a while, but does anyone know what causes that and, more importantly, how to fix?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that when turning down the volume of the ringer with the volume rocker it doesn't automatically turn down the notification volume as well. Is there a way to set the volume rocker to adjust both notification and ringer volume to the same level? You can test this by going under Settings/Sound and Display/Ringer Volume...and try adjusting the volume with the rocker and it only adjust the Ringer Volume.

Its encouraging to hear statements like this one....

I'll definitely be purchasing mine launch day. The 31'st can't come soon enough!
I'm pretty sure my home screen would do landscape with keyboard closed the first couple of days I had the phone and now it wont do it unless the keyboard is out. Anyone else have the same issue?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI owned a Moto W385 with USC, my wife also. For our birthdays we upgraded to Samsung Epic 4G. A phone that I actually have been waiting for ever since the IPhone came out because I knew the technology would be where I wanted it to be for the most part (speed, HD, capacity, upgrade ability/customization. I'm more getting more camera time in than making Epic 4G porn, but it is fun!
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo this has probably been answered at some point but I am new to the forum and cannot find it anywhere. I'm looking to remove preloaded apps like sprint tv, nascar, asphalt 5.I am already rooted is there an uninstaller app or something?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Samung Epic 4g was working fine until I plugged in the charger and it WOULD NOT CHARGE. tried another charger, nothing. Tested outlet, yes, it provides electric. So I turned off the Epic and IT WILL NOT TURN ON. Took battery out for a while, put it back in nothing.
