newb to android - I have 300+ contacts but really use about 10 or so 90% of the time. I have these 10 as favorites - is there a way to have the favorites open first when I click People? I know it's not that big of a deal but it would eliminate one step.

If I open People it just sits at the loading screen Messages don't have the people names on it
The people widget doesnt show the group I cant click Phone or call or text anyone Then either people or HTC sense will force close. is there any reason why i can't do anything that relates to my contacts?
I can't seem to remove people from my favorites.
I've tried going to the favorite group under "People". I remove the people and they are removed. I check the People widget on my home page and they are gone. I wait 15minutes, check again and they are back in favorites.
I've tried going to the individual contacts and removing them from favorites. Same problem.
Is there a way to sort your favorite group list. I want to be able to sort my top 10 people I always call in importance like Home, Wife, Work, etc., but it sorts it in alphabetical order. Anyone know a trick to sort it the way I want?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had the Eris for 3 days now and I mostly get the hang of it. I'm running 2.1 (newest build).
Last night I linked all the contacts in "people" with Facebook (for people that are on FB). When I press "phone" now it lists nearly all my facebook friends. I did not add them. How did this happen? Oddly it did not do all of them. It stopped half way through the Ts. As much as I like all my "friends" there are least 200 of them I do not want listed on my "phone" list. How can I remove them from the phone list? There does not appear to be any way to delete them. When I do the "people" program they are not listed there. Is there anyway to remove these friends from the phone list and if I do will the phone try to put them back there?
Is there any way to have multiple phone numbers for the same person in favorites? I want to have my wife with her cell number and her work number there. It appears that I can only have her once in favorites with one number. It would also work if I could select which number when I pressed her button. It does not look like this is possible. Any ideas?
1. Is it me or have they removed the Search feature in the People app in 2.1? I'm in People, then click Menu and the Search feature was right there; has it been moved or removed? 2. I also responded to another post in a different phone forum about the missing Phone "Favorites" sub-feature in 2.1. Anyone know where that is? You can add a contact from your recently called list to your "Favorites" by hard pressing the contact name, but there's no associated Favorites app to go along with it.

I have just started my career as an android programmer, and am currently relying heavily on the sample code and api examples. I have been working with this api example, to produce an expandable list of items (note this example does not use the ExpadableListView).In playing with the example, I tried to add another widget that would become visible and be gone at the same time as the text (mDialogue in the sample code). This works well with another TextView, but as soon as I tried to add a button widget, it stopped working. The list would expand on first click, showing my hidden TextView and Button, but it will not disappear on further clicks. The button is however, clickable, and I was able to set up an onClick listener to change the button text back and forth.I'm starting to wonder, is it just not possible to have a clickable item inside a clickable list item? Or is there some kind of work around? Would it solve my problem if I used ExpandableListView?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ListActivity that uses a CursorAdapter to fill the rows in the view. I wrote a database helper class that gives me back results for common queries I make for my app, and it uses an SQLiteOpenHelper implementation I wrote to open the database. I use the open helper to open the database and get a cursor to pass to my CursorAdapter.

The problem I'm having, that I didn't have before I implemented the open helper (before I just opened the database directly without a helper), is when I click on an item, which takes me to another activity, and then go back to this activity. When it initializes everything is fine, and my list is populated fine, but when I go back from the activity that follows, the list is empty and in the LogCat I see "Invalid statement in fillWindow()".
It appears from a few post I've seen that the reason is, when I requery the cursor, the database is closed. But I'm not closing it! I'm scratching my head on this one.
I like the UI much better for launcher pro but I do miss some sense widgets like favorites. With launcher pro, I have to keep going through my phonebook or recent calls list to try to find people. It does get tedious. Is there any app/widget that is similar to the sense favorites?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was one of the lucky few who accidentally received their HTC Incredible units early. To those eagerly waiting you will not be disappointed. This thing rocks. I've been to two Verizon stores and all of the employees were lusting after it.The Navigation is also "incredible" with the exception of not being able to save waypoints. With typical GPS stand-alone units, this is easily accomplished, but not with Android 2.1. Furthermore, coordinates cannot be put in, only addresses. Has anyone had any luck with some of the widgets available to perform these functions? For those of us who hunt or off-road, not every destination has a street address.

Im retrieving the information about the restaurants from a service, they are not stored locally on the device. But I want to allow the user to add a restaurant to his/her favorites.
What is the "best" way to store that kind of info on the device? Should I use Shared Preferences or Sqlite db? Or any other suggestions?
I'm running android 1.6 on my gigabyte gsmart g1305 phone and I'd like to see a contact picture in all of my contacts, not just my favorites!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have looked around a couple forums trying to find an app or process that will allow me a way to select a particular group of contacts as a favorites widget. It would be great if I could have my work contacts as one widget on one screen and my personal favorites on another. I also tried to put the work group into the favorites widget without success. I am one of those people that has several different "scenes" customized depending on where i am and what I'm doing. The current widget just doesn't work for what I need. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have used the bettercut app to make shortcuts to individual contacts, but that is not really what I'm looking for.
