Battery used by cell radio?
Does this just mean I am in a bad cell zone? This is my reading at home and it is the top battery usage on the chart, followed by wifi at 24% (on because I am home), and phone idle at 23%.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi tried on a win 7, vista, and xp machine to install the ADB drivers I install the latest SDK. download the latest drivers through SDK(pack 3 i believe). Restart the machine, restart phone. I try to search for the files in the "C:android-sdk-windows" folder where i unzipped this. I even went as far as to go to "C:android-sdk-windowsusb_driveri386" to search for the drivers but none of them ever find it. Because of this i cant root, use the new recovery, or use the RUU files to go back to the stock rom because they all look for ADB. I was originally trying to take the unrevoked root off so i could use toast's method by flashing the stock ROM. Both UU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6_Radio_1.39.00.05.31_rele ase_171253_signed AND RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_rele ase_171253 do not recognize it. View 6 Replies View RelatedMy EVO is acting up. It was working fine one day, I could take pictures, listen to music on my SD card, etc, but then out of nowhere, the phone does not see the SD card. The phone says "Removed SD card. SD card removed. Insert a new one." I have tried removing the SD card, then starting the phone without the SD card, then putting the SD card back in, but it still doesn't recognize the card. I cannot mount the phone as disk drive in my computer (I do not even have the option). Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know what I can do to fix this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI found https://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thre but I cannot respond to that thread anymore (perhaps they expire?). I've tried with both the 1.5 SDK and the 1.6 SDK. I have tried all the suggestions in the aforementioned thread. I can mount the device just fine, but adb does not work whether it is mounted or not. I've tried it both as root and as myself and with it in $PATH as well as using. In the dir. Adb appears to "work" as it tells me "List of devices attached". At some point right after I installed 1.5, I remember setting something up to make the USB connection easier, but I don't remember what that was. My hypothesis at this point is that is somehow interfering, but any help you can give either way would be much appreciated.

I've read all the threads I could find in here about turning off the cell radio but none have addressed this particular configuration. The reason I want to do this is because I don't use my Incredible for talking, I just use it as a computer. For talking I use a cheap little "dumb phone" so to conserve battery while i'm out n about all day, i would love to be able to have the cell radio off while 3g is on. If anyone knows of any way/app to achieve this.

When I plug it in to the USB port, the computer doesn't recognize the device. I've tested the USB ports with various other devices and it recognizes all of them but the Hero. I did get it to sync briefly and begin the upgrade to 2.1, but then it disconnected again after only being synched for a minute or so. I've restarted everything, and I do have the USB debugging enabled. I've scoured the web and forums looking for a solution and just can't find one. I'm running XP, SP3.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere has been almost no variation from that. Every now and then Display or Wi-Fi would show up as about 2% each, then disappear after a while. That's all.Last night my battery reached 10%, I turned off the power, charged it overnight for 12 hours, unplugged it, and turned the power back on. I noticed two things:
1. My Battery Use list changed drastically. I assume this is actually a better representation of what the list should look like than what I had been seeing for two weeks, but the other thing I noticed was
2. My battery was draining a lot faster than it ever had during the previous two weeks, even during idle periods. My battery had consistently been draining at around 1% per hour idle until today. Now I'm seeing it drop 5% in LESS than an hour while idle (idle meaning the screen shuts off and I don't use it).
So my question is, what do Cell Standby and Phone Idle mean? Previously they had both been 2% and my idle battery use was excellent. But today they both shot up to the 20-30% range and I'm thinking this may account for the excessive battery drain even while the phone is sleeping. Why would these two things be so high? Nothing changed between yesterday and today except that I turned off the phone and turned it back on. I almost feel like I messed something up by simply turning it off!
So my app works well in the emulator in various run configurations and on the device when the device is connected to WiFi. But when I switch off the WiFi on the device, the code that goes out to the network takes forever and then times out (i.e. doesn't return any data). Other people have reported this as well. I also notice that no data is going out or coming in when I look at the little up and down arrows on the 3G icon in the status bar on the G1. I am assuming that the Java code I am using should work for both types of connections, right? I mean, do I need to account for the fact that cell data network is very slow with high latencies i.e. pre-cache my data etc?
