Sprint HTC Hero :: Keyboard - Text Not Showing
Feb 6, 2010I have had a strange issue for the past couple days. Sometimes when I type on the keyboard, no text is entered into the text box, but I see the letters "pop up". I have tried to change orientation, and exit the app and no luck. The only thing that really works is to reset the phone. i have even tried to use Better Keyboard and it does it too.

Apr 27, 2010Is there an app/add-on for Android that will speak my contacts name or number when I get an incoming call or text? I absolutely LOVE that feature about my Dare and will miss it greatly. Helps me know if I need to get the phone out of my pocket for an important call or if it can go to voicemail. Is there a feature in Android that can speak my contacts to me...like "call from Dad's Cell" or "message from Robert" like my LG Dare?

Nov 2, 2010When I open Google Translate it asks me if I want to install the Text-to-Speak Extended Library. When I tap yes, it goes to the Market and says it can't find anything. When it pulls up the Market, it searches for some TTS file or something. Anyone else have this problem and/or know how to solve it?

Sep 19, 2010I have a few questions about how Chomp works on the Epic: If I download Chomp, will I still get notifications at the top notification pull down on the home page? Or are the only notifications given on the actual chomp icon? (I don't want to have two notifications.) I was also wondering if I would still be able to use the "speak to text" feature that the stock app has? Lastly, there is a set of permanent icons on the home screen (phone, contacts, messaging, apps). When I click messaging, would it go to chomp?

May 22, 2010I dunno if I was the only one who thought this way, but the kb on the hero that we used before we got an its from Sprint (that fixed msg app) worked fantastically. I remember literally doing my HW online with that kb. Was just wondering if devs ever considered using that kb with 2.1 builds. I'm sure our kb's can be better than what it is (laggy).

Jun 10, 2010When I rooted to 2.1 I had a microphone by the gear. I also notice a microphone on the Evo. I was having issues with Gmail and switched to the official RUU and now have no microphone icon. That is an amazing feature! So how do I get it back? Diff keyboard or a feature I am missing? It looks like I cannot root anymore (for a while at least). Anyways just having the microphone icon would suffice I don't have to root per se.

Feb 27, 2010I Only Use The "Landscape"( for Lack of knowing the proper term) keyboard, ya know the one when you hold the phone sideways, but i hate that it always first loads the normal or "portrait" keyboards first, then it has to load the landscape keyboard when i rotate it so i wanna know if i can just have it so that it always loads the landscape keyboard no matter how the phone is positioned i checked the settings and it doesn't seem like you have that option, so is there maybe an app that does this??? anybody have any ideas?

Handcent has an option to map the Enter key to Smiles, but it doesn't seem to work...
Sprint HTC Hero :: Does Not Seem To Be Accurate - Alternate Keyboard ?
Jan 20, 2010This is my 3rd HTC but first Android (Had a Blackberry Curve too). Like Hero a lot but the onscreen keyboard is driving me batty! First off, it doesn't work well if my fingers are cold. And second off, it does not seem to be accurate, especially on the far right hand side. Also, I swear my fingers are quite small and even if I press a letter smack dab in the middle, I get the letter above. And don't get me started on the backspace key.
I really really like my Hero. But I need a different onscreen keyboard. Can anybody make any suggestions? I can't do any programming, etc. so it will have to be a pretty much straight download.

Its not a big enough problem that id pay for "better keyboard" if its different there and I just switched to handcent so I don't have to go to more in the menu to get to the android smiles without typing them out all the way.

Jun 7, 2010i am getting odd behavior from the default browser.I go to this (Rohars Roughnecks GuildWars™ Progress Tracker - Login Page) page to enter in login information but the silly phone wont bring up the keyboard to let me type.what does the browser key off to launch the keyboard?it seems to work on other sites.at least google.i dont browse alot on the phone.
