What exactly does Hybrid mean in this circumstance?? I have read to take the phone out of Hybrid mode. Does this make the phone run faster, slower, etc? What does 1x mean?

wtf? Check spare parts partial wake usage since last unplugged and the Calander is up there at the top above the Android system.
I'm playing with the Hero and under mobile network settings, mode of operation you have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO only and 1X only. Does anyone know what Hybrid is? It's the default selection. Will selecting EVDO only help with battery life?

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have had my phone sleeping correctly for three days. Today I installed task killer, and it hasnt slept since. I tried to uninstall it, but no luck. I reset the phone and only installed handcent and its normal again. I also noticed my battery was lasting very well untill i installed task killer....shortly after installing..the battery was dropping quickly.

I've chosen the social scene in my settings because it leaves a page open for IM & email but I'm wondering if its possible to customize a NONrooted phone to keep more "pages/screens" open, like facebook kept open or the web browser?
I like to put my phone on silent but keep the vibrate on. Does anyone know an app that does this. I'd also like to disable the volume controls at the side of the handset because I sometimes knock this and that turns the ringtone back on. Is this possible.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have read a couple of threads that touched on this ring issue, but was unable to find any that had a solution or work around.Since the 2.1 update and the OTA update, many times when an incoming call comes, the phone doesn't ring. If I happen to be in front of the phone, I can see the screen change showing an incoming call.If I am listening to Pandora Radio, when the phone rings, Pandora stops, but the phone never rings.If I am not near or looking at the phone this results in missing the call.If I shut off the phone and re-boot it appears to ring fine, but at some point later in the day or week it will quit ringing.I normally never turn off the phone. Should I start to re-boot every day?

They are usually much far apart. and i noticed my battery has been draining alot faster than usual the past few days so im assuming something is keeping my phone awake. When I updated to Froyo I decided to make my regular 8gb SD card into a Goldcard so that I can leave it in the phone, use it as normal and still receive the official OTA updates. But, I'm wondering what actually makes it a Goldcard - i.e. is there anything I've got to be careful not to delete? Or is it just a case of being sure not to reformat it?
All I did was to backup the files on it before I formatted it and turned it into a Goldcard and then copied those back over to it after having done the update. So, still a Goldcard then?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm moving over to Sprint.I'd rather not pay the $10 4G fee (or whatever you want to call that $10 fee), so I'll probably stick with a 3G phone.Is the Hero the best option? What I really need the phone to be able to do is voice calling, text, email, web browsing, etc. I'm not a power user, so I don't think I'd use the full power of the Evo anyway, so that's another reason to stick with the Hero.And if I understand correctly, I'd be eligible for upgrade pricing after 1yr with Sprint.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI rooted quite awhile back; I think it is Fresh 1.1.It worked fine.This morning it started spontaneously rebooting and is saying com.google.process.gapps. has stopped and all apps have forced close. At that point nothing works.I do have a Sprint contract to fix it but it has been rooted so I don't know what to do.

I switched to Sprint yesterday from ATT and bought a Hero along with my dad. They activated the phones for us and than told us that it should only be 30 minutes before our phones were on but could take up to 24 hours. its been about 15-16 hours and was wondering if it takes everyone this long?

Outlook is set to leave them on the server for 5 days, so if it beats my phone to an email, it is on the server for the phone to grab.
I need to store my emails ON THE PHONE after they are fetched from the server. I need to go back and look at emails 6-12 months, even when I have no cell coverage. I had set "recent messages" option on the android to "total" and that appeared to be saving them on the phone,,
For some reason I had 3000 emails on my server (6 months worth) and when I deleted them,, they disappeared from my phone !! Gone! I went to the email settings on the phone, and noticed that "sync email" was checked, I unchecked that, but then did not receive any new emails.
How do I set an Android phone to just download the email from the server and leave it on the phone,, end of story. just download new emails to my phone. If I delete it on the server it does not affect my phone and vise versa. Preferably storing it on my sd card.

Basically, what I see is that the phone was mostly awake at night and was in deep sleep only for about 1 hour. I don't think it is normal.
I just installed the Paranoid Android 3.60 ROM that I downloaded via this link [URL] ..... I am using a Sprint Galaxy Nexus.
The problem I am running into is with the "hybrid properties" in the settings. Everything else with the ROM has worked wonderfully, but I believe the Hybrid is the main reason to run this ROM and I cannot access it. Any time i click the Hybrid Properties in settings, I get "Unfortunately, settings has stopped responding." I have reinstalled and wiped factory and dalvik/ caches.
I'm having crappy reception (like most people) with -100db reception so I was wondering if I might try hybrid prl to see if that helps. Can I make the change to hybrid or do I have call or go to a vzw store?
Also, how do I access the Inc's service menu?
My HTC hero is rooted and today i think it got overheated while charging it and tethering it. I unplugged it from the charger and it will no longer turn on.I plugged it back in and the light turns red, cause it's charging but willl not turn on.what does this mean?is my phone like broken?
