Is Their another place I can get apps and games from other than the market if so are they better or worse? I see games my m8 got on his iPhone and they are a lot better than any game I've seen on the market, what is the risk if I download from a different source?

All of a sudden apps stopped being able to be downloaded or updated from the market place. They just stay on the 'starting download...' status which is rather irritating. I've tried clearing cache and resetting the market and know i've a master reset as a last chance option but has anyone any ideas before I do this?

Here is what I do:
I select the app I want from Market and select 'Install'
Then I select 'ok'
Then a blue box reads 'Your item will be downloaded'
When I go into the Downloads section, the status bar isnt doing anything and it reads 'starting download' below it.
But nothing ever downloads or even partially downloads.
Have been suffering with many paid apps missing since updating to 026 firmware. This morning turned the phone off and then back on and low and behold all my paid for apps are back and free stuff that wasn't showing up is now there.
View 6 Replies View Relatedmy problem isn't downloading apps from the market. My problem is that I cannot log into my gmail to use market. What happen is I would be prompted to enter my user/pass, which I do, then I would get security check (enter the words in the twisted picture) and then it'd keep giving me different words after I've enter them even though I am very confident I got them correctly. It'd just keep giving me new words to enter. Anyone know how I can fix it?

View 6 Replies View RelatedHave tried to download the uninstaller application but after trying it twice for 4 hours each I have given up.Does anyone have any ideas why downloading this app takes so long - it is also the same for the Xpedia flashlight app which I have tried separately. In fact any application seems to take an eternity.
They apps say they are downloading but they are not very large apps so should be there is a flash but after 4 hours I am still waiting.Have tried the switch off/on but still it takes ages - I have full signal (not 3G though) and it doesn't download.
I rooted my phone a few days ago to remove all the useless apps that the phone comes with. I basically got ride of a code reader, some stupid games, and a bunch of "trial version" applications. I just noticed now that I can't download apps from the Android Market anymore, and this is probably what caused it. Everything else on my phone still works perfectly. When I try to download an app from the Android Market, I select the app to be downloaded, press "Install", then press "OK" when it gives me the list of what the app has access to. Once I press "OK" a popup appears that says "Your Item Will be Downloaded". That's it. Nothing appears in the notification bar, and the download doesn't go at all. So I guess my question is. what would I have deleted to cause this problem? I unrooted my phone again since. Maybe a google app or something? And if so, I need the APK for it! Yeah, yeah I was an idiot, I know. Don't mention it. Here's what I've tried so far after searching this issue: - Cleared the cache and updates for all Google-related apps

When I go to the android market and look at the help front page there is a link called "Download Issues Troubleshooting page". The fix described in here does not work for my phone.How do I make my phone work properly again.Also, I am on Android 1.6 but I cannot upgrade to 2.2. Today I heard about an update for the market that includes an auto update feature for installed apps. But I, like many others, do not see this option on the market.
