View 17 RepliesI am using service class to play the mp3 file using media player object on Android platform, problem is, i am not able to handle the alarm interruption. When any previous set alarm clock reach to it's alarm time it starts to play in parallel with mp3.I want that mp3 should become paused and after alarm it again start to play, same thing should happen with snooze.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI connected a usb cord that came with my galaxy, to the front usb ports of my new computer. I built it myself but i think i connected the from case usb cords wrong to the mobo or may be the mobo is defective. My phone turns off as soon as i connect it to the usb cord connected to the front. Could the battery be screwed? My phone still boots up, it just doesnt charge as fast. If not at all i left it connected to the wall charger all night tonight and it was only half charged by morning. Should I just order a new battery off ebay for my galaxy?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI want to set an alarm in my application which will be triggered each day. According to the doc, I have to set a one-time alarm, and in the BroadcastReceiver which will receive the alarm signal, reset the alarm for the day after. Is that correct ?
My BroadcastReceiver handles well the wakelock and launch a service which releases this wakelock. Everything works fine here.
However I have problems. In my application there is a checkbox which is checked when alarm is up. To know if my alarm is up, I use the following condition :
CODE:...................
But this doesn't seem to work very well, is that a good way to know if an alarm is up ?
I'm developing an media player application for Android, for which I need to handle any Alarm notification, and based on that I'll pause my playback. When the Alarm in snoozed or dismissed, I'll then resume the playback.
I googled a lot for the Alarm handling, but what I found was the way to enable Alarm notifications through code, set the intent and then handle it. However, no where could I locate just handling the Alarm notification part. I don't need to set the Alarm on, it could've been set by the user, and I don't need to programmatically. All I need is just handle that notification.
I'm having a couple of problems with an alarm app I am developing.
The first thing that I think is a bit weird is that when an alarm goes of and wakes the phone up. These things happend.
oncreate
onresume
onpause
onresume
Why are they run in that order? The last two should not be called? And this is what's causes me big trouble, because when i press home or back on the phone, onPause is run, which I want to call finish() from. And that part works as it should, but that does not work when the phone wakes upp from sleep bacause of the onPause call...
Battery life issues for me are over. In the beggining I would be happy if the battery lasted for 2 days. Now I can have my phone always on for 7 days straight, that is 168 hrs (when using very limited wireless data connectivity of course), thanks to Galaxhero and some other tweaks. But anyway, lately I've been doing some tests regarding Google Latitude. I suspected that Latitude was messing (not just) a little bit with the battery life. So, yesterday at 9AM I unplugged the fully charged phone that had the Latitude feature on. Result: at 5PM the battery was at 90%.Today, I decided to turn off Latitude (leaving the rest of the configurations intact) and unplugged the fully charged phone again at 9AM. Result: it's 5PM and the battery status is at 100%.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone know if that battery used in the i7500 is the same/interchangeable with batteries used in any other Samsung phone?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThere's a battery use widget which is actually a shortcut to a menu (or a hidden menu, i didnt find it anyway) that shows the percentage of the battery that every process used.
It shows me:
Android System : 70%
Cell Standby : 14%
Phone Idle : 14%
Android OS : 2%
Anyway, no matter what i do to my phone - running 1.6.3.1 , with APN on, sync off, wifi off, gps off, wireless networks off, around 30 minutes of accessing the network and 30 minutes of calls - the battery almost dies at night.
My battery is alright, and can last almost 2 days, but while from 100% to ~40% it drains 'normally' , from 40% to 0% it drains real fast - about 20 minutes phone call.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've come up with an idea for a battery status indicator application. On my old Windows Mobile phone I had an application(abcPowerMeter) which could show the current power consumption of the phone. Like this: If we can get this on the Galaxy, then it can be coupled with the existing battery status information to give a pretty good estimate of how long the battery is going to last under current load.Instead of showing a notoriously unreliable and counterintuitive green bar the phone would show something like this in the tray.
View 6 Replies View RelatedStock battery indicator in the status bar was bugging me, since it was constantly showing more charge than all other battery apps (widgets, Spare Parts). After looking in
/system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery.xml
I could see that Samsung changed battery level thresholds compared to other Android releases (sources found on net). I have made a mod which changes the levels to the ones in the right column (source). Tested only on this 1.6 firmware: Baseband version I7500XXJB2, Build number Donut.XXJB6. Do not change /system/framework/framework-res.apk directly, the phone might not boot if it is not signed again after changing! Make all necessary backups!
You will need Metamorph to apply it, but since we have only 1.21 MB available on /system partition with this firmware, we will have to move Maps.apk to /data/app. The procedure (if you are not sure what each step does, do not proceed):
1. root the phone
2. copy busybox to /data/local/bin and give it execute permissions
3. install Metamorph from the Market
4. mount /system as RW (via "Root explorer", for example)
5. Run Metamorph. It will check for necessary files, and copy zip to /system/bin/zip. You can move it to /data/local/bin/zip to save some space on /system, and create symlink with this: ln -s /data/local/bin/zip /system/bin/zip
6. copy attached Galaxy-BatteryFix-v1.0.zip to /sdcard/AndroidThemes
7. move /system/app/Maps.apk to /data/app. It seems that Maps work fine from that location, after reboot.
8. apply theme from Metamorph
9. reboot
If you have problems with Metamorph and copying zip app, run this command:
ln -s /data/local/bin/busybox /system/bin/cp (after renaming /system/bin/cp to cp.old).
To restore the original, use Galaxy-BatteryFixRestore-v1.0.zip.
Almost 8 hrs, I am seriously looking for the best way of utilizing i7500 battery. I got confused with many advise and setting. Could anyone give a brief of what the setup do we have in samsung?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI seem to have disabled the battery percentage indicator that was previously displayed while the phone was charging. It used to say '95%. Charging' and now it says only 'Charging'. Does anyone know how to bring the percentage back? I have the H7 firmware.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAny idea how long the i7500 will last for video watching on a full charge? Also what firmware are you using?I've been debating on whether I need to take my phone in for battery replacement or not, but I thought that I'd check here first.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHow long does your battery last after "typical" usage? Everyone has its own special usage style, but just briefly say the recharging time, and what are used before charging.
View 16 Replies View RelatedSince I recently found out a few culprits that were waking up my phone from sleep and they were not so obvious as to what they were here's a quick list of apps I have on the phone and it sleeps properly.48 hours after the last charge and I am at 65%! Overnight it drops by only 1-2%!The application that was waking my phone was TasKiller! I have since removed it.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI cannot take credit for this as it's mentioned in multiple threads here, I would just like to bring it to the attention of anyone that doesn't already know.Disabling APN when not required has allowed my phone to run for 3 days and still be at 70% battery. To disable APN I installed the app WiSyncPlus from the app store. This app can be used for controlling network/data access on your phone in multiple ways, but all I use is the very simple APN toggle widget.I only toggle APN on when I require data access for web/email/market etc. then switch it straight back off. When APN is off you can still use the handset as an old school phone, for calls and texting, but not mms. There are multiple options in this app for controlling syncing etc. very much worth a look if you use your phone for email too.I also have my Samsung switchers widget app next to the APN widget, so if I have a wifi connection available I use this instead of enabling APN to surf the web etc. There is also a free app called APNDroid that can disable APN but I haven't tried this so can't comment on it's usability.
View 24 Replies View RelatedJust called O2 about my Galaxy, It keeps shutting down and I cannot power up without first removing and replacing the battery, I's just over 1 month old and they deny any knowledge of this happening at all, They want me to send it for repair and have the priviledge of waiting up to 14 days to get it returned whilst I merrily pay a contract fee to them!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI installed the 1.6 but I notice a battery life is less than the GalaxHero!
Example: Finish charge yesterday at 20, switched into standby until 00:30, put on the Airplane mode until 7:30.....charge battery to 91%
Until now, almost always on standby, 3 minutes of calls, 5 minutes of WiFi connection....Battery 60%!
I think it wear the charge very quickly ... What do you think?
I also noticed a bug on connecting / disconnecting the cable from the PC, if I check "Notify SD Card" or if I not check it the phone rings, too!
I installed the galaxo rom on my I7500L the other day and immediately encountered a problem. My battery died in less then 7 hours with the screen off. I read into the no sleep problem (and being able to tell I have it by not being prompted by lock screen) and do not believe I have that problem. I am running it pretty much bare bones, with adw launcher, advanced task killer, and handcent. I did have the task killer set to auto task kill and aggressive (turned it off completely now) that may have been the issue.
Although its particularly odd that every time I enter task kill the settings application is always open no matter if i kill it or not. Is there any common knowledge I didn't follow (heard of deleting launcher.apk cause galaxo constantly refreshes it) but haven't done so yet.
Allowing the screen to time out and using the end call button to bring it back on has resulted in the settings program not running in the task manager as it constantly has. scratch that, still doing it.
its my fourth day sincei bought my Samsung I7500. fist two days of use were perfect. i suddenly couldn't charge the battery and it turned off. when i came home i've charged it and than next day i was loosing a lot of incoming calls! when someone calls me the phone just rings once and its stops, sometimes its shows as a missed call sometime it doesn't show anything.
can please anyone try to help me weather this is a hardware or software problem. i'm trying to update the phone through the NewPC but i definitely can't connect the phone and update it maybe i'm missing something...........
I've a Galaxy and I installed the rom GalaxHero, but last few days my Galaxy uses a lot of battery. Turn On the phone at 13 o'clock, still in standby, at 21 o'clock the battery was at 55%. That is completely abnormal. I've installed the application "spare parts" and I see that in "Battery History" - "Other usage" it reported running 97%. So I Installed another program, "Drain-O-Meter", this brings me to the process "System_Server" which uses the CPU to 100%. The battery lasts me very little, maximum 24 hours in complete standby. Before we even did about 70 hours!
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've had the Galaxy for over 3 weeks now, and it seems that no matter what I do, I can't get the battery to last a day even. Even killing apps, shutting of all networks and GPS, even turning on Airplane mode... the battery drains at alarming rates. It seem that the Galaxy simply does not go to sleep. On analyzing the battery history, the phone seems to be spending ridiculous times running with the screen off. From about 90% when running "normally" to even 20% to 30% with everything turned off. I'd like to hear other people's experiences.
View 49 Replies View RelatedEver since I got unlimited data plan my battery life reduced by 60%. Before I would charge my phone once in 3-4 days, with 3g on all the time I could barely go through one day.
"Data On Demand allows you to save battery by turning off your (2G/3G-) data connection manually or automatically if your device goes to standby-mode (display turns black)."
The best features of this prog is that when u put it on auto mode it will only disable 3G when ur phone goes to standby mode thus saving u a lot of battery.
My battery cover wont close properly. The side with the camera will close, but the other side will stick out leaving a gap between the phone and the cover. Tried many ways to make it work and finally got annoyed and used tape to hold it.
