Since I recently found out a few culprits that were waking up my phone from sleep and they were not so obvious as to what they were here's a quick list of apps I have on the phone and it sleeps properly.48 hours after the last charge and I am at 65%! Overnight it drops by only 1-2%!The application that was waking my phone was TasKiller! I have since removed it.

I just wanted to brag a little about my Aria.I have had it for almost two weeks now and I love it! I was a bit worried at first about the battery life.It seemed to deplete quickly.It was barely lasting a whole day. And that was with moderate use. I think a lot of that was due to the lack of signal where I work. It really drains the battery.I noticed the last couple of days the battery life getting better. I checked the battery monitor and it shows that I have been unplugged from the charger for 2 days and still have at least half my batter left.That is with moderate use. I set it so that everything is not always syncing. I think that helps a lot. Anway, I just wanted to share since there seems to be a lot of talk about the poor battery life. So far I've been impressed and happy with my little Aria!

In my opinion, most people who look out for phones do not consider battery life, most would consider stuff like technology, physical looks etc., but not battery life. Even if there are people who consider battery life, those are just the minority. Hence there are lots of controversy regarding the battery life. Most might agree that the battery is just right, however it is no surprise if people complain about battery life running out too quickly. Is technology improving but not batteries? It seems like phones are getting better everyday, but the battery life has like been stagnant.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI cannot take credit for this as it's mentioned in multiple threads here, I would just like to bring it to the attention of anyone that doesn't already know.Disabling APN when not required has allowed my phone to run for 3 days and still be at 70% battery.To disable APN I installed the app WiSyncPlus from the app store.This app can be used for controlling network/data access on your phone in multiple ways, but all I use is the very simple APN toggle widget.I only toggle APN on when I require data access for web/email/market etc. then switch it straight back off. When APN is off you can still use the handset as an old school phone, for calls and texting, but not mms.There are multiple options in this app for controlling syncing etc. very much worth a look if you use your phone for email too.I also have my Samsung switchers widget app next to the APN widget, so if I have a wifi connection available I use this instead of enabling APN to surf the web etc.There is also a free app called APNDroid that can disable APN but I haven't tried this so can't comment on it's usability.

Example: Finish charge yesterday at 20, switched into standby until 00:30, put on the Airplane mode until 7:30.....charge battery to 91%
Until now, almost always on standby, 3 minutes of calls, 5 minutes of WiFi connection....Battery 60%!
I think it wear the charge very quickly ... What do you think?
I also noticed a bug on connecting / disconnecting the cable from the PC, if I check "Notify SD Card" or if I not check it the phone rings, too!
I installed the galaxo rom on my I7500L the other day and immediately encountered a problem. My battery died in less then 7 hours with the screen off. I read into the no sleep problem (and being able to tell I have it by not being prompted by lock screen) and do not believe I have that problem. I am running it pretty much bare bones, with adw launcher, advanced task killer, and handcent. I did have the task killer set to auto task kill and aggressive (turned it off completely now) that may have been the issue.
Although its particularly odd that every time I enter task kill the settings application is always open no matter if i kill it or not. Is there any common knowledge I didn't follow (heard of deleting launcher.apk cause galaxo constantly refreshes it) but haven't done so yet.
Allowing the screen to time out and using the end call button to bring it back on has resulted in the settings program not running in the task manager as it constantly has. scratch that, still doing it.
Does anyone encounter short battery life in galaxo 1.6.3.1 ? before i was running JC4 and had about 3-4 days between my changes..after i changed to galaxo i HAVE to charge every day! at JC4 i did encounter the "no sleep" bug, but only when i used GPS. Right now it seems like the phone is never sleeping ?

2. Sometimes there is a lag between tapping an icon and the application launching. The phone should keep the yellow background under the icon that is about to launch until it is launched. That way the user would know that the press was registered and no additional press is needed.
In general it is preferable to sacrifice almost everything to maintain a responsive UI. If that means that applications will take longer to load or will run slower, fine.One thing that has been discovered with the web is that people don't mind waiting, but they do mind not having accurate and quick feedback about what they have done and what is going on.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI connected a usb cord that came with my galaxy, to the front usb ports of my new computer. I built it myself but i think i connected the from case usb cords wrong to the mobo or may be the mobo is defective. My phone turns off as soon as i connect it to the usb cord connected to the front. Could the battery be screwed? My phone still boots up, it just doesnt charge as fast. If not at all i left it connected to the wall charger all night tonight and it was only half charged by morning. Should I just order a new battery off ebay for my galaxy?

I finally know why the battery blows. I simply can't stop messing with this thing that is why! It's always in my hand like a nice comfort toy. I just thought it would be interesting for us to post in here how much battery life we are getting for the amount of use we put the phone to.
There must be some sort of pattern.
My usage:
anywhere between 10 - 30 texts per day.
Several emails - sending and recieving.
a few phonecalls.
30 Minutes of gaming.
Twitter.
Live wallpaper running.
BBC News widget running and Weatherbug widget running.
I also listen to some music but this varies day by day.
3G and HSPDA are left on constantly as is my wireless.
GPS is turned off.
Thats my usage and i get at least a day and a half. Would be interesting to compare...
I have been having some battery issues on my Captivate and can only seem to get through 12 or so hours with minimal use and it is quite bothersome. The main reason I bought the phone was because of its battery life and so far, I am disappointed. For instance, I charged my phone all night, woke up and made a less than one minute phone call, looked at my status and I was at 96%. As the day went on with minimal use, it seems to drain without me even touching it. As of now (13 hours later), my battery icon is blue and showing halfway full, but the battery status says 36% which does not add up to me. I also don't have a live wallpaper and have Advanced Task Manager that kills all apps as well as GPS and Wifi turned off. Any tips? Should I take it back and get a new one or see if I can get a new battery?

I am using taskiller to kill any not needed background apps and normally have over 120mb left in RAM. Any tips on what I can do to fix this? I'm trying to hold off rooting until I get the t-mobile update. Also, does the phone normally give inaccurate battery readings to the widgets? Because I am literally looking at the phone and watching the percentage go up... up 6 percent in the last hour. lol anyone else getting this?

If I pick it up at all while it is charging, the cord falls out. I love this phone, but this may be a deal breaker. What are the chances these issues are just with the phone? View 5 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having what I consider unacceptible battery life and I wanted to collect some thoughts on how to improve it, or if I should seek remedy with AT&T or something. At this point, the phone is of limited use to me because it dies part way through the day, which is unacceptable. Normal routine. Phone charges completely overnight. I unplug my phone sometime in the 7am hour. I usually get my first battery warning around 3pm. Phone usually shuts itself off around 5-7pm (hence, a serious problem). Since the phone is dying, it is "cycling" the battery every time I charge it. My day is what I would consider moderate usage. For comparison, my Samsung Jack last a day and a half under the same conditions. My settings for display and other things are essentially stock.
I pulled the battery stats the last time the phone died just as it was shutting itself off.
Total time: 11h 49m

This is a great thread to read on tips for saving power http://androidforums.com/samsung-vibrant/138944-how-save-power.html But this is something that people over look, its mentioned in a few places but I think it needs to be promoted more. I'm talking about, well I guess the word for it is conditioning the battery. Basically you drain the battery down till its dead(though in my case I went down to only 5%), turn the phone off and charge back up to full. One thing I noticed right away was how long it took for the phone to recharge. I have not hard data, but my experience up to that point was charging before didn't take that long. But now that I've done this, battery life is great. I've been listening to music for a couple of hours, some light browsing, viewed a youtube video, took a few pictures, and I have background sync on and I have both twitter and facebook installed with notifications set to their shortest time span(15min and 30min respectively). Currently at 8hrs since unplugged and at 61%. Not bad I'd say. I also have rooted my phone and installed the lag fix. I'm not running BH_MAN's cut down rom, I am still running stock.

The most I do is browse the web or play the occasional game for a few minutes. Recently I installed launcher pro, is this program known to worsen battery life? I don't even have that many programs on this phone. I see peoples screen shots with 7 pages full of widgets, I have 3 pages and only two are "full" of widgets.
I'm rooted, on stock rom, bloatware removed, and overclocked @ 1.2Ghz. I'm aware that overclocking is harder on the cpu and can worsen battery life, but my phone isn't always running at full speed. I have all my profiles set on conservative. When the screen is off I have it set to clock at 600Mhz max, 100 minimum. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?
I heard that some custom roms improve battery life. What else can I do to improve battery life? If launchers can cause bad battery I'll just use touchwiz, doesn't bother me. I'd rather have good battery life over good looking screens. Also, my screen is on the lowest brightness setting for most of the day. Today for example, I had my phone fully charged. Took it off the charger and texted my girlfriend for a bit. Browsed maybe 2 sites on the web. I took a 2 hour nap. Woke up and played Nova for 20 minutes. I check my charge and my.phone was at 30%! Unacceptable. It was off the charger for less than 5 hours!
What's working for me is to recharge the phone with the computer cable. I was able to get a full day plus by doing this. For some unknown reason samsung didn't make is simple using the regular power cable.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have done everything that I can think of in order to increase my battery life. I even took the old jeep to the shop to get the AC port fixed so I can charge in my car. I don't know if I have a genuine problem here or if I am just being picky. I know I have been using my phone more the past 3 days because it is a new toy and I can't keep my hands off of it, but I have noticed that the battery does not last more than 8 hour of normal use before it is completely depleted. I rooted it, removed the bloat, turned of GPS and Wireless assist, don't use WIFI, installed a task manager, and turned screen brightness to the minimum.
With all that being said the phone still does not last near what I think it should be. I have had it for 3 days now, so I am guessing what I am hearing from other people is that my battery should be broken in by now. I don't know what else to try. I noticed that when I check the battery use, the display is usually 70+ percent. Is there some day to decrease the brightness beyond the stock settings or something to increase life?Does it sound like I may need to do a battery swap. I know I have been playing with the phone more, but I feel like I haven't been using it so much that it should die that quickly.
I have had my Samsung Galaxy S phone (Samsung Fascinate to be specific) for a full year now, and it wasn't until just recently that i have been having battery life problems. I could get a full days worth and more in the past, but now, my battery has been acting odd. I would usually charge it while I was sleeping, then wake up and go through my day just fine. I was doing that today when my phone shut off because it was out of battery. I then went and plugged it in for about four minutes, then realized I needed something so I unplugged and turned it back on, and now am showing 43% battery! I figured it was a glitch with the stock battery display, so downloaded the BatteryLife widget, which confirms I have 43%. Does this mean I need to complain to AT&T to get a new battery, or a new phone? Update: I rebooted the phone again and was at critically low battery life. I reseated the battery and rebooted again, and now I'm at 5%.
