Just got my new phone a week ago. The only thing that I don't like is, "Self, why didn't I get this earlier." Amazing!My first smart phone.Anyway, I write because I have found some speech recognition software, but it seems to only come on sometimes for replies to text.What apps and internal speech technologies are available to speak new text messages?

How do you uninstall programs from the vibrant. Such as text-to-speech. Installed it but don't want it on my phone. Can you some how uninstall it?

When I hold down the input field I get an input choice menu but the only option there is the Android Keyboard.Am I doing it wrong?What am I missing? I would also like to have it read emails to me, and word docs (or just .txt).I have a Kindle but my phone is a little more convenient for something I would rather read in bits and pieces while walking to and fro the car or whatever.

However, I prefer the Samsung keyboard and swype over android keyboard for actual typing. is there a way to invoke speech-to-text on the other keyboards as well? Long-pressing the search Captivate button only invokes Google voice search.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I have this annoyance on the S4 that occurs whenever I use the in-built Gallery and Internet app. Whenever I select a photo to delete, the phone goes "Tick box, ticked." Or when I unelected a photo, "Tick box, unticked." Another example of this is when I go onto the Internet on the phone, and I go to a webpage, the phone goes "Page, refreshed." I've tried to turn everything associated with this problem, off but it just keeps re-occurring. How to turn this off.

If any of you came from a BB9700, the text message would have a "D" next to it if it was delivered or a red X if it wasn't delivered.
First android so be easy on me but my phone is not doing predictive text, is there some way to turn this on? Also how the heck do you snooze on the alarm, i could not figure it out for the life of me.

In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
I'm eying the Vibrant as my first Android phone (yep, starting at the top), coming from a long line of Palm OS devices culminating with a Treo 680. So far I like most of what I see, with two caveats: The lack of camera flash (I've not had one before, but with a 5 MP camera it seems a waste to not have one) and the lack of a physical keyboard.
I've yet to meet an on-screen keyboard I liked, but I've not tried a 4" screen before. Any first impressions, especially from people used to physical keyboards? Good, bad, ugly? Honestly that's the main thing I'm worried about.
Anyone have troubles sending video texts? On my Iphone I can record like 60 seconds and MMS it to people. I cant get it work at all on my Vibrant
