Samsung Vibrant :: Handset Calendar Is Step Backward

Aug 3, 2010

There are a few threads of various Vibrant/TouchWiz Calendar issues (Samsung Galaxy S). I am starting this thread to hopefully get a reply of all the various issues in one spot and maybe someone can get this list somewhere that will drive change. In my mind, a smart-phone's roots is a PDA + Phone. Yes, it is amazing that they can do much, much more now, which makes these phones that much better, but to me, the Calendar is part of their roots. These disappointments that I'm starting with were available in Android 1.5 which makes them all the more frustrating. I am bulleting these instead of numbering them because I'd rank them all at the top. Really, any issue that you are having out there, especially one that is a non-issue in stock Android, is pure neglect by Samsung.

- No ability to customize notifications in the TouchWiz Calendar. Anyone need a reminder ringtone that is different than your other notifications? You won't get one that stands out from the others in your Samsung Vibrant because you have no ability to change it.

-No ability to hyperlink in the TouchWiz Calendar. Let's say I am going to a wedding that is out of town. On my G1 I could enter phone numbers and address to the Hotel, Reception Hall, key contacts, and the like; so all I had to do was go to my trusty calendar and click on a hyperlink to get directions in my map or call people/places via the dialer, oh, and I'd know what time things started because it is a super useful feature in a calendar. Good luck doing this conveniently on the Vibrant's TouchWiz Calendar because it does not have this feature. Maybe the biggest disappointment.

-Repeating Events in the TouchWiz Calendar provokes issues when modifying . If I edit only a single event in a series of repeating events via my web-browser on my laptop, TouchWiz will duplicate the event, keeping the original event, but also creating the changed single event as a new separate event entirely.

I'm sure this is the tip of the iceberg because I've seen a number of posts. . . although I haven't seen any mention of the hyperlinking which I find an enormous help.opefully someone from T-Mobile or Samsung will review and implement asap. In the end, I may return my phone if I have no confidence in these being fixedI'd also love to hear solutions. I've tried all the market calendar apps I could. Gemini, Junte, they provide hyperlinking, but don't fix the duplicatation issue. All other calendar apps ultimately just click through to the native Touchwiz calendar.Given the specs on the current phones out there, these features should be included off the shelf. I've rooted my G1, but one shouldn't have to root to have basic features available to Android such as the above.

Samsung Vibrant :: Handset Calendar is Step Backward

General :: 4.0.3 Backward Step From 2.3.3?

Aug 19, 2012

I'm flabagasted that it has less features than 2.3.3!

For instance independent ring tone and notification volumes in 2.3.3 but not in 4.0.3

Samsung Vibrant :: How To Get Calendar On Vibrant To Sync With Google Calendar

Sep 11, 2010

I can't seem to get a handle on how to get the calendar on my vibrant to sync with my google calendar. If I schedule something on google calendar it syncs to the phone and if I delete that event on the phone, it deletes on the google calendar. But an event created on the phone doesn't show online. Mail and contacts seem to work fine.

Help with this issue would be great. Is there a setting I'm missing? If there are any links to online resources about interoperability between the phone and things google, I'd appreciate that as well.

It means as in Blackberry if develop an Application with JDE 4.2 then that application will work on any handset with OS 4.2 or higher which means it has forward compatibility. Is there anything similar in Android? Suppose I develop application with Android SDK 1.5 then will that application work on any handset having OS 1.5 or higher.

Android :: Want Step By Step Video Tutorials?

On Youtube, there is a user named thenewboston who posts videos teaching basic computer programming that are aimed at total beginners like me. His tutorials are really easy to understand, because he goes through the process as if talking to an elementary school kid.nyway, he just started a tutorial series about developing iPhone apps. Maybe it's time someone from the Android camp did the same? Sure, there are many tutorials already available online, but they don't appeal to the common person, and the good video tutorials on Youtube are all more than one hour long. By doing something like this, more people would be attracted to try develop apps for Android.

HTC Eris :: Set CPU Step By Step Instructions

Aug 19, 2010

I fould this online and thought it may come in handy for some people 1. Benefits The CPU drains more power if it is running at a higher frequency. If the processor is running faster, the phone will be faster and more responsive, but the battery may drain more quickly. If the processor is running more slowly, the phone will be less responsive and take longer to complete tasks, but battery life will be increased. With SetCPU, you can set up profiles to manage the CPU speed based on certain conditions.2. Main Tab and Basic Usage To get started with SetCPU, start the app, read the introduction, and pick "autodetect frequencies." If you ever need to access this screen again, press the Menu button in SetCPU's Main tab, then choose Device Selection. If your kernel doesn't support autodetect, you won't see it choose the device that best matches your phone from the list. After you've passed the introduction screen, you may get a request from Superuser Permissions. Depending on your version of Superuser Permissions, either check the box for "remember" and press "allow" or press the "always allow" button. The sliders here allow you to manually control the CPU scaling bounds. The CPU frequency will always be between these two values. By default, the CPU should scale between the max and min frequencies based on need. The sliders also control the "main" profile as explained later. The "scaling" drop-down list is an advanced feature that allows you to control the behavior of the CPU scaling mechanism. See explanations for the different governors in the CPU Scaling Governors section.SetCPU also includes a widget for your home screen. Add SetCPU's widget like you would any other widget: long press on your home screen, select Widgets, and select the SetCPU widget. A screen will pop up so you can configure the widget's appearance. If you would like it to show current CPU speed, set the Active Refresh Interval to something other than "Passive," though a passive refresh interval is recommended to save battery.
