View 39 RepliesSamsung Vibrant family, Got some bad news, Finally got some update about Froyo update for Samsung Galaxy S(Im thinking its going to affect us Vibrant owners too since its the same phone). IT HAS BEEN DELAY TILL LATE OCTOBER. You can read more here Froyo update for Samsung I9000 Galaxy S delayed until October - GSMArena.com news This sucks but I knew something like this was going to happen.
View 27 Replies View RelatedI have a question for all you rooting mavens. How, if at all, will rooting my Vibrant effect the pending Froyo and TMO updates that are due out soon. Will the updates take place the same as if the phone was not rooted at all or must other steps be taken to take advantage of the pending updtates.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was under the impression that flash was preinstalled on the Vibrant. Silly, right. Anyone tried using froyo? Does it work ok? Any issues?
View 10 Replies View RelatedOk, so I may be leaving the USA soon. I plan on unlocking my phone and going out of the country with it. I don't know how long I may be gone.maybe years, so here are a few questions.
1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
I've been having trouble installing Kies on my PC. During the installation it goes up to 38% and then it stops. I tried installing it on 2 different PC's but got the same result so I was wondering if its possible to get the update without Kies.

View 49 Replies View RelatedGiven the success that most people are having using custom ROM's on their vibrant, I'd like to do so as well. I don't really see a benefit of waiting for and using T-Mobile's version if the current custom one's work just fine (and since I really don't care about having TouchWiz or not).
Having said that, which one would you all recommend? I hear great things about Bionix 1.5, Macnut R12, and TeamWhiskey's Onyx R4.2 (no TouchWiz, which I hear is a good thing especially if you have a decent alternative like LauncherPro). I really don't know the true differences between them all, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Ok I'm new to this rooting thing so bear with me. I want to root my vibrant but I have some questions. Does the one click root work? And how does it work? Also what does the lag fix do? And do I need a computer to use it? Will rooting and applying lag fix not allow me to get froyo? Again I'm sorry if these questions have been asked.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA buddy of mine just got the Vibrant and he was asking me if there is a way to do a manual install of Froyo rather than wait for the update. Could somebody direct me to step by step instructions if they are available? Would he have to root? I searched for a bit but didn't find anything specifically for the Vibrant.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a Samsung Vibrant and started to play with it. I downloaded all the necessary drivers and I rooted it using a method I found online here with success. After playing for a few days, I decided I'd take on the task of updating to Froyo.
View -1 Replies View RelatedThis is the OTA JI6 not leaked, etc. It's super easy, don't be intimidated but DO read and follow the step by step instructions. rhcp 0112345 over at XDA has posted the OTA update JI6. Remember rhcp0112345 spent time and money to bring this update to us so it would be a nice gesture to donate $1 to his paypal if you avail yourself of his work. https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWho has lost data (contacts, pictures, downloads, etc.) after the latest update? Anyone?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter struggling along with everyone else with my GPS, I finally got the OTA update a little over a week ago. After updating, GPS seemed to be working better (not perfectly, but better). Then yesterday out of the blue it completely ceased to work. It stays permanently "searching for GPS".
Before getting the update I did use the LBSTestMode work around, but am now unable to access the settings in the same way I did before to reset to original settings...perhaps it is the workaround settings causing the problem now? (And without GPS that could become literal at any moment!)
I just bought myself a brand-spanking new Samsung Vibrant from T-mobile the other day. I was then informed that the JI6 update was being pushed out via OTA. Only problem is, my plan was to use this thing via wifi only (I bought a 1 month voice-only Flex Plan to activate it). According to T-mobile, if I want any updates, my only choice is to switch over to a monthly data plan (big old $70 a month bill). So I turn to the experts on these forums... is there a way to install these updates manually over wifi? Or is it time to take the phone back?

View 23 Replies View RelatedI got a new Tmobile Vibrant. Used Samsung Kies to tether. Worked great until Tmobile sent an update to disable tehering so I got a new phone. Now the race is on. They are trying to push an OTA update that is trying to install which the vibrant to disable tehering again and the phone gives me 24 hours each time I delay the install. How do we stop the installation for good or can it be done on a non rooted phone at all?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone reinstalled ryan's lagfix since the update? My phone was nice and zippy after the update, but it seems to be getting laggy again -- not as bad as pre-update, but still a little laggy. I'm concerned that the update changed file structure or something that the existing lagfix would screw up ...?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis morning my phone said it needed an update. So i gave it the update and the phone turned off then back on. Well tonight i just noticed when i was looking in my contacts that some of my address contacts had no pictures. Some of them have the facebook account on there name and some do not.. I tried to take off facebook and re- sync it but its not working..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed the new OTA update for my Vibrant, and now my phone is having some very serious lag issues. I did not have any problems with lag until after this update, and now my phone is constantly lagging, even when I'm texting. Is anyone else having this problem? As for the GPS fix, I don't really see a difference. The GPS on google maps is still off, and as slow as ever, and the Navigation app works for awhile, and then sometimes will go crazy... What exactly was this "update" supposed to fix?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have updated my phone through T-mobile yesterday after I received service message and the phone never got past the "samsung vibrant" screen, it stays here after it plays the welcoming melody. After that, it simply won't start. I have tried hard reboot, factory reset, nothing worked. Did this happen to some of you as well? Any ideas how to get my phone working again?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I did a hard reset of my Vibrant a few days ago (delete user data). I was able to reinstall most of my apps very easily because the market still had them listed in the downloads section. The only problem is, the preinstalled apps were all reset to their original versions, and I can't update them. The two that I'm concerned with in particular are Google Maps and T-Mobile My Account. If I look at them in the market, the only control available is "Open". "Uninstall" is greyed out and disabled. Basically, the market thinks that I already have the latest version installed, even though I don't, so it doesn't give me the option to update. The My Account app is completely broken. If I try to run it, it just sends me to the market saying that I need to update it. Then of course, the market doesn't give me that option, so I can't use the app at all.
