I have gone through multiple battery out reboots and my phone is still at 100% awake (via spare parts). I kill every process but voice control keeps coming back. my battery is only good for 3-4 hours as of this morning. battery died once, charged it, and i'm now on my spare!

I have over 621 contacts on my Samsung Moment and everytime I launch the voice control system it will shut down immediately. I have gone through and edited the contact list and even wiped the phone out. once the contacts were gone the voice control system started up with no issue. Is the problem linked to the number of contacts and if so is there any work around?

I don't talk on the phone while driving (and sincerely wish you didn't either). While playing around with 2.1, I gave Nuance a try and I'm baffled. Has it always been this bad? Even with 1.5? I got near 100% incorrect when trying to make a call. Only once did a name I said get into the 3 name list, and it wasn't even the right person. What did I do wrong? If I didn't do something wrong, what possible use does this app have?

For example when I say, "Call Candace" it asks, "Did you say 'Call Candace?'" and when I say "Yes", it waits for a moment then goes back to my home screen. If I say, "No", it proceeds to the next name that sounds like what I said. If I say "Yes" to the next name, it closes Nuance and goes back to my home screen. I have gone through the Adapt process. Sprint has tried to fix it and ended up giving me a new phone. Samsung has been stumped by this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Jawbone bluetooth headset that worked great on the Moment with the 1.5. Updated and now, when I press the call button on the headset, sometimes nuance voice control will open and ask "Say A Command"... i do so, and most of the time it will just go back to the home page. Sometimes it hears the command and will ask to confirm it. At that point, it just stays there, even after i say "Yes" 55 times, and then goes back to home screen. If I manually dial the number it will route it to the headset and all is well with the world. But driving, this is a pain and crashing is a really sucky option. Anyone else have anything like this happening? Any ideas? I am sure this issue has been beaten like a slow horse but I am tired of swerving all over the road trying to make a call.....

This button's placement is absolutely perfect for accidentally pushing it with your thumb or fingers when you're on a call, or when holding the phone in either portrait or landscape mode. I dont use voice control. Even if I did, I'd want it to turn on when I decided to use it. I've searched the Phone Settings; I've searched these forums; I've searched the Android Marketplace. View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else's Nuance take about 14 to 15 seconds to open? I would like to use the voice command function, but with it taking this long I end up just using the phone's interface to do what I need, such as calling someone.
Also, is there any way to set the dialer as the default when you press the phone button? It goes to call log first, and I can't figure out how to change it.
This is weird, and I haven't installed anything new since this has started happening.
I listen to podcasts a lot on my Moment thru the cassette tape headphone jack in my car. I use Meridian for my podcast player. Starting about mid day, when I plug the headphone jack into my moment with a podcast loaded into Meridian, the $%#in Nuance Voice control activates and asks me for a command. Then, seemingly unprompted, it will open up my music player and start playing a song at the same time as the podcast. Then, after I've killed the music player, when I unplug the jack, it does the same thing. I've tried rebooting, and it's still doing the same thing..
I don't know if it's my phone or what but when I look up the Other Usage on my phone, it shows it "Running" more than 2/3 of the time.And on Network Usage, "Android System" and "Media" use a great deal of the phone as well.I think this might have to do with my "android.process.acore" crashing every once in a while when it's asleep. Based on everyone's feedback I might have to return the Moment for a third time.

It has a media button on it that when pushed, will pause or play the Pandora app or accept a phone call in which case Pandora is paused. However, pushing the button with the X brings up the voice command window. Is there anyway to disable or remove this app altogether? If it can be removed, I want to be sure that this app is not associated with the talk to text feature, which I use and like. is there any way to disable or remove this application from the X?

I was riding the ski lift yesterday, using my old Palm Centro with one hand so I could keep my glove on the other, and it made me wonder whether the Moment is possible to use well wih one hand. The slide-out keyboard seems naturally two-handed. Perhaps the on-screen keyboard in portrait mode is good enough?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMost every other "issue" to this phone has been a non-issue for me to this point.However, the one feature Samsung really screwed us on is the voice capabilities of the phone.I think they are tied to the Nuance system and therefore unusable by other apps like google voice search and where.I hope samsung or sprint writes a live search app for this phone.I bought the phone with the expectations of this phone being capable of voice commands without being limited by nuance.

Having an issue where after boot and sometimes all of the sudden during the day, the phone gets hot and battery level drops l like ton of bricks. Using Android Task Manager App and enabling monitor of system processes and selecting realtime monitor, I've traced the problems to "android.process.media". This appears to be something to do with Android scanning the device for media files (audio/video/etc) and creating some sort of database. I also usually see the "Music Enhancer" process which has to do with Beats Audio according to HTC (but I have Beats turned off.)
I've seen old threads of people with same problem and in some cases it had to do with a "corrupted" media file and they had to remove all media files and/or factory reset their device. I just spent an entire weekend customizing this device! Plus, how the heck do you prevent yourself from copying the corrupted file over if it was a corrupted mp3 or something?
I'm pretty sure my issue stems from the fact I used my media manager (Media Monkey) to sync over 2,800 audio files to the device. My collection is of high bitrate quality, about 16GB worth of music. I'm pretty sure this is what it is choking on. What I'm not sure of is if the Media Scan the Android device is performing is just a "normal check" for changes/addition/deletions to any of the media files. This of course would take a lot of time and CPU if it has to scan 2,800 files every reboot or periodically. It seems launching Google Play sometimes starts it too as I also sometimes see Google Play Service:Music or something like that (even though I don't stream any of my audio from Google Play.)
Is it just me or every person I try to take a picture of moves away because the flash blinds the $@#t out of them lol. I personaly love it but wished there was a way to control the brightness.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure its been discussed and all but I think that the voice recognition software is capable of being much more advanced.There should be a way to just give your phone a voice command without having to manually open an app. It probably would have to be running in the background the whole time, analyzing everything it hears, so it may use a lot of battery and cpu.therefore it may be easier to have a starter phrase to tell it to listen more carefully. for example: say the said app is running in the background,listening to every noise, but it wouldn't begin to really analyize until you say something like; "hey, phone!" or "yo, droid!" (or whatever tag phrase). I don't know what would have to go into an app like that for it to work but hey, if an app like that was designed, then I think the android would be a really smart smartphone. In the end thanks for all the awesome apps you guys are already developing. be sure to tell me when someone develops something like that though.

VR matches this against a specific valid vocabulary containing only "yes & no", and then returns "no". Can you do this yet? Last time I looked you could not. The VR would match against a full vocabulary and user saying "no" would come back with things like "snow" and so on.The other BIG problem was that if the VR got no match a "Retry" dialog was displayed, this needed to be dismissed by using the screen, which meant the the voice control process failed at this point, terminally.

Today I recieved a SMS from my wife and i had an option to use voice to send my reply. I don't get that option when I start HandcentSMS nor do I when I use the stock messaging app. Anyone know what app my phone might be using that has the voice option?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor anyone getting "server problem" when attempting a voice search with 2.1, it appears to be a issue with random existing gmail accounts. This feature never worked for me with the 2.1 beta. When I flashed the release, I tried every one of my 6 existing gmail accounts with no love, then I created a new account on the phone and wahlaa voice search works. Now all I have to do is export my contacts and calender to the new account and contact beyondpods author to get a new key.

1. Execute a script with a command like
adb shell monkey -p MY_PACKAGE --setup scriptfile -f /sdcard/ mon_script1.txt 1
where mon_script.txt contains a few touch commands. After I execute this, I see nothing happening on the screen. It even does not give me the "Number of events injected message". I have verified that my touch co-ordinates fall over actual UI elements.
This is the script file I am using
tap 79 29 tap 100 100 tap 200 200 tap 300 300 quit
2. Execute Monkey Network control to type commands individually. I start up monkey to listen to a port and use PuTTY to send commands. I get "OK" return messages, but nothing happens on the screen.
Whenever I use monkey in the random mode, I see interaction on the screen. But I need to get one of the above 2 methods to work. I have seen the sources of monkey and nothing seems to be wrong. Has anyone used monkey in the above described way? If so, please tell me what I am doing wrong.
I searched all through the board and couldn't find anything on this problem: When I'm talking to my wife on my Samsung Moment, she often complains she can't hear me. She says, "speak into the microphone!" Even if I speak directly into the hole in the bottom of my Moment, she still says my voice is muffled and she can't hear. When I switch to my bluetooth earpiece she hears me perfectly. I use my bluetooth all day long (this is my work phone), but then after hours, I prefer to ditch the ear-itating earpiece.
Three questions:
Is my Moment's mic busted?
Is my wife hard-of-hearing?
Must I permanently insert my earpiece, babel-fish style?
Couldn't find a good forum to post this in, hope this is the right one and you guys can maybe help?
I've got a Samsung Moment that had 1.5 on it for about 4 months and had Google Voice working on it just fine. Great, loved it.
I recently updated to 2.1, and everything works great on the phone EXCEPT Google Voice.
I go through the steps and it tells me "We have a problem! Your phone number could not be verified. Please try again."
I've tried a BUNCH of time, rebooted, uninstalled/reinstalled, everything I could think of.
