Any suggestions for a good low profile moment case? I have tried several different Moment cases and the one I like best is like this one below and link but it just broke. Now with no case I realize how bulky it actually was.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI couldn't find a review on the Otterbox Commuter case for the Samsung Moment but I couldn't wait so I ordered one from the Otterbox website for $31.45 with free ground shipping using coupon code "techbargains6100p" (expires on the 31st). Delivery was fast, I ordered Tuesday night and got it today. I don't like buying things without reading reviews so I figured I'd post this for other people that feel the same.
Inside the box:
Inside the box is the case (2 pieces), a screen protector and a microfiber cleaning cloth. I can't comment on the quality of the screen protector because I had one of the "invisishield" screen protectors put on the phone the day I bought it.
Materials and quality:
*The case has a silicone layer on the inside that shouldn't scratch the phone, and has a hard plastic shell.
*The case makes the phone feel sturdy and seems like it would do a good job absorbing shock if the phone were to be dropped.
*I like the way the phone feels in my hand with the case on it, I also like that the phone won't get stuck in my pockets.
*The case has a nice look to it. The back is textured (I think brushed aluminum is the texture they wanted to give it, maybe woodgrain or a cross of the two)
Fit:
*The fit is mostly perfect. It has a cutout for the headphone jack, micro-usb port, microphone (on bottom of phone), front speaker, and back speaker. The side buttons are covered in silicone, but have raised portions where the buttons are. The volume rocker has arrows on it, but the buttons on the other side are not labeled (voice recognition, camera, but I know which one is which).
*The part of the case that goes on the screen half of the phone has an indent on the left, to aid sliding the phone open.
*The case snaps on very easily (it has snaps, I don't know if they are the same as the body glove snaps but they work fine) but is much harder to get off (not too hard, just hard enough that it won't accidentally come off).
*The main problem with the fit of this case is that it does interfere with the slider mechanism which makes it a little bit harder to open (just initially until it starts moving) and when you slide it shut you need to press the two halves together to shut it all the way.
*It adds less than 1/4 inch of bulk (possibly closer to 1/8 inch but I am terrible at guessing lengths and don't have a ruler handy).
Competitiveness:
I have seen people ask how it compares to the body glove. I did not buy or own a body glove so I can't really give a fair comparison. The body glove looks thinner and possibly less protective. I don't know what the texture is of the body glove but it seems similar. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of cases made for our phone so I don't know what else to compare it to.
Conclusion:
I wouldn't pay over $30 for this case. It will probably turn up on amazon.com for less than that within a few months. The quality of the case is good, but I think I might have paid a little bit extra to have the brand. If you already have a case you are happy with like the body glove it is probably better keep using that until the price comes down significantly.
Anyone know a source for a simple leather or other sleeve case for the Moment?Something like the basic Blackberry 8330 sleeve preferrably with a notch to easily grab it.I always carry my phone in my pocket and something to keep lint out of the phone and prevent scratches is all I need.

They have youtube videos showing it on other keyboard slider phones and it looks ok but I was just hoping for personal experience.They also sell other cases that look like all hard plastic and hard plastic with a rubber coating.

I don't know is this worth waiting it for 2.0. i don't know what they can do to fix the problem.

2/ What is your approximate phone usage profile during a day?

I bought an Epic 4G from the shack and I bought a 15 dollar case, don't buy the case that is 15 bucks and by a brand that I dont' even know. It bent the plastic piece up on my phone and I had to snap it back in place, Now it is loose where it was up. I am going to be buying another case from best buy and returning this one to radio shack. Kinda irritated and annoyed.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get Facebook profile pictures assigned to internal phone contacts, but cant get it to work. I installed the recently updated Facebook app, at the first launch it asked me if I want to sync my contacts, I selected Sync with exisiting contacts (later I selected Sync all since first option didnt work) but still profile pictures are not being fetched. I can now see facebook contacts in my main contact list, and I can link them with my phone contacts (manually), but profile picture is still blank. When I click the View profile (facebook) link of a particular contact I'm taken to my profile page instead of the person i clicked on. And when I select Edit and go to Facebook tab there is an error with an exclamation mark with the message "Unable to edit SNS contacts on phone".

I'm currently trying to decide whether I want to pay the $162 to get it fixed or sell it for parts on ebay. Thing is, Samsung claims they've only had to replace the glass on 3 captivates so far, and I cannot find a single screen-damaged Captivate on ebay past or present. Did I just have really really bad luck with my drop? I find it hard to believe that so few are getting broken. If I do fix and keep my Captivate I want to get a really protective case for it.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. The only ones I do get are my work ones and that's connected directly to the Exchange server. I have a total of 4 emails being sent to my phone, My gmail, Hotmail, and 2 from my website exile-designs.com. I have the settings to check every 15 minutes but I never get any. Anyone have any idea's on this? I know the settings are right for sure on my Hotmail because I can pull that one up and see my old email's sitting in my inbox. The other 3 accounts should all be fine as well.

I tried rooting it today by following what seemed to be fairly simple instructions but when I went to do the recovery part, I got this message..."Samsung PST MFC Application has stopped working". I tried going thru the whole process again while phone was still plugged in but I kept getting same msg. When I unplugged it and tried turning it on, all I would get was a pic of a phone, a question mark, and a computer. I had to hard boot it. Once I did that, it was on the 1.5 version. I had to take it to the fix it shop to get the upgrade and my contacts back. I'm very scared to even try this again myself but I want it rooted so bad! I want to be able to use it as a modem for my laptop.

It seems to be a phone-side problem, because it is only rectified when I reboot the phone, but not the PC. The last time it happened was after an incoming call disrupted my PDANet connection. When I hung up, the USB icon was gone, and I had to reboot.
