View 2 Replies View RelatedAccording to a PocketNow article dated Oct.5th.....Skype (mobile) is now available for Android. frauhottelmann Good job Skype, it doesn't work on the Galaxy S (unfortunately that's what I have) You simply can't log in on the Galaxy S. Too bad. Then another poster wrote..."Same for me". Unfortunately he only says "You simply can't log in..." and this leaves me wondering WHY NOT ? If anyone out there knows exactly why we can't use our SGS to log in...then please enlighten the rest of us who are left wondering. It seems to me that if the exact reason is known then someone should be able to come up with a fix.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am getting a Galaxy S end of this week or early next week. Wondering how good it will be for VOIP. I am thinking of using either Skype, Fring or Nimbuzz in the background 24x7, connected mostly over 3G but sometimes (at home and at work) over Wi-Fi. If Wi-Fi is going to drain the battery faster, then I can have it on 3G all the time. I'm more than happy if I can get one day out of it. What do you guys think? Has anyone tried it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just flashed my Galaxy S2 i9100 with the PureICS v6.1 ROM and almost everything is fine except one problem:
Whenever I start a skype call there is no sound, if I start a video call there is video but there is still no sound, neither party in the call can hear anything.
I was just wondering if this was a ROM specific bug which just needs to be ironed out, or something to do with skype generally misbehaving on ICS ROMs which don't belong to the Galaxy Nexus or whatnot.
When connecting my Galaxy-S to the Samsung Kies software, my telephone shows up with an incorrect telephone number. I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.
Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.

I've just got my new Samsung Galaxy S I9000 phone which looks awesome. I had been using a Nokia N97 Mini which had behaved OK and I've been using Joikuspot as a WIFI tether which is important because of my need for the internet during the day. I was really please to find that the Galaxy has an inbuilt tether application in the Mobile AP however I cannot get it to work and wondered if any one else had any issues? The Mobile AP kicks in ok and I can find it on my laptop however when I try to connect it just tells me that it cannot connect and goes into trying to diagnose the problem. I tried to bypass this by inputting the wireless connection manually but when I do it tells me the security option is wrong but does this for every option in the list.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have added my work exchange email account to my Samsung Galaxy S. It starts to downloads email, contacts and calender entries but then starts to freeze or pop-up screens appears saying that there is no contact with TwLauncher - it doesn't matter if I choose "wait" or "force close". Even if I delete the exchange account the phone keeps freezing and I have to do a phone reset (with all the setting up and downloading of apps to follow). I have tried to set up the account on a clean phone with NO other apps installed same problem. What do I do? Our server is Exchange 2003. It works fine with my colleagues Nokia and HTC phones.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMay I know how to delete or replace the 4 default icons (Dialer, Contacts, Messaging, and Applications) on the Galaxy S main screen? View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm considering getting me one of the sexy Galaxies, but have been wondering if it is possible to play videos (of any type and quality) with soft subtitle, such as .srt, .txt, .sub, or any other subtitle that is not hard-coded on the video. Or can closed captioned m4v or mkv videos be played with soft subtitle on Galaxy? That would be great if anyone knows how to do so or those already doing so can share us the how-to.

View 19 Replies View RelatedApparently the new iPhone will stay connected to wifi even while the screen is locked. This is nice because with my current iPhone,I use about 3-4 megs of data a day even if I never leave my house (which has wifi). It would be nice if the Captivate didn't do that since I have the 200-meg plan with AT&T and I'd like to use my data for web surfing, not checking for email in the background. Would anyone mind checking this for me?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was originally going to get either the HTC Hero or Motorola Droid but found out they are both CMDA. and the Milestone is out of my budget. People have been suggesting to get the Samsung Galaxy S, that's also out of my budget and looks too much like an iPhone. So i stumbled upon these two phones.I'm leaning more towards the Spica because it has superior battery life, and 800mhz compared to the 528mhz the i7500 has. and it can also play DivX.What's making it a difficult decision is the i7500 has an AMOLED Screen. It can display 16,777,216 Colors while the Spica can only display 65,536 Colors I'm not too sure if that will make a difference. Also it has 5mp w/LED Flash while Spica is only 3.2.One phone has a little of both. This will be my first Android phone I'm coming from a Sony Ericsson W995.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently picked up a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (Android 2.1) on Rogers Wireless. I've been having an issue with the wifi on it, it only works intermittently when I'm at home. It will connect to my network without issues, but none of the data-enabled apps can access anything, they just time out. While this is happening my old iPhone (recent android convert) and my Nintendo Wii are able to connect flawlessly. This ONLY happens when I'm at home on my own network from what I've seen, when I'm on the wifi at my work everything works fine. Has anyone seen issues like this or have any suggestions as to what may be causing it? FYI I have tried different wifi channels, currently my router is setup to use TKIP on WPA2 for encryption.
