General :: Samsung Galaxy S - Unable To Unjoin Contacts?
Aug 20, 2011I am using a Samsung Galaxy S, with a program called DejaOffice. It syncs with a PC remotely just fine. Then it syncs with the native Android database. Recently it has started "joining" two similar contacts (Mother and Daughter, same home address, different cells numbers, different first names). The Android does this by itself. A contact disappears from the Android contacts database, and I go check one of the two contacts and find that the other has been joined to it. When I edit the remaining contact there are two Phone tabs, each with the correct information in it. I understand that if I then push the menu on the phone, there should be an option to Unjoin. But nothing happens when I press that menu button. If I simply select the contact (edit is then one of the menu choices), there is a Join menu selection (which works), but not an unjoin option.

Oct 29, 2010I had a Motorolla SLVR L7, now I've got my Galaxy S Captivate.I was able to get my contacts from the L7 onto the sim, and the Captivate seems to be reading the sim contacts just fine.I then imported from my Sim card onto my Captivate's internal memory.I had assumed that this would allow me to sync up those contacts into my Gmail, so that I can do manual backups and have a keyboard/mouse to manage them.Except they aren't being loaded into my gmail.

Right now I only see my contacts (sucked from my Instinct) on my Epic, and my Gmail web acct shows nothing.

Jul 9, 2010I've got a Galaxy S and am really pleased with the phone generally except the contact management is really frustrating. In particular I can't seem to sync my Google contacts groups. The contacts themselves sync ok but they are all grouped under Google in the groups dialogue. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to add them to groups I create on the device or to get the groups that are in my Google contacts to display. Annoyingly if I try to create a group on the device with the same name as a group in my Google contacts it tells me that a group of that name already exists even though it won't display that group on the phone.

Sep 14, 2010'Sync' is switched on on my phone so I don't know why I need to manually upload my phone contacts from my SD card then attach them & email them to my google account.I just tried to attach phone contacts from SD card to a Gmail to send to my gmail account then log into my PC & import that file into my gmail account from there, but it will only let me attach photos So I tried emailing as an attachment from phone using my yahoo account.That does allow me to attach contacts but it sits there without actually attaching them !I just found I need to tick all contacts to get to attach. So I have to check 200 ticks as there's no check all option !So one by one I tick all & gets sent as 200 attachments in an email.So then download to PC hard drive.Then in Gmail import contacts I have to browse for vCard files. However I can't select all so have to manually browse for each vCard file then import one at a time.There's no option in contacts to select a contact then 'Star in android'.I presume if somethings starred in Android then the sync between phone contacts & gmail should work properly. Even then if you add new contact to phone there's no option in the phone to star it. Code...

Jul 28, 2010I own a Droid, and consider myself fairly savvy in the Android world, however my wife recently got the Ally and is having a problem editing her contacts. So when she initiqally booted up the phone it walked her through logging into google and facebook, etc, and it imported all those contacts into the phone, however, she wants to add in their phone numbers now, but its not letting her. We click on the menu button, click eedit contact, but then there is no way to edit or add phone numbers.

Sep 5, 2010I have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.
Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.

Aug 10, 2010In Google Contacts I've entered birthdays and subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Google Calendar.They show up as intended in Google Calendar but in my phones calendar they're all listed twice. Unsubscribing from the contacts birthdays calendar makes both disappear, so they're not from some other calendar.Is this a bug in the Galaxy S calendar? Any solutions?

And now I've got this vast list containing, it seems, everybody who I've ever called or emailed, including various names who I don't recognize at all. I just get a text telling me to go to the website to view it.I have spoken to vodafone tech support about this and they sent me a PDF with instructions how to set MMS up. Sep 24, 2010I have a problem with a brand new Galaxy i9000 and the wifi. I have managed to add one wifi network to it that I use at home. I have a second wifi network that I want to add, called cat, but when I try to add it from the Add wifi network place, it gives the error: Unable to save the network. i have tried a power on and off. Is there a maximum number of wireless networks one can save, or is there a problem with my actual 'phone? The phone is very laggy as well, and almost impossible to use when 3G is active. (Load averages are as high as 30 sometimes).

Aug 7, 2010My wife recently got a SGS and we have just tried to download Kies so that she can put some music etc on it (she has a 16GB microsd card in it). However, when we try and install Kies it gets to the installation phase and then at the stage where it prompts you what to install, I selected "instal all" and then it thinks about it and comes back a minute later with a message "unable to connect to file server".Is this a common problem people have had? We are running Windows 7 64 bit, so I dont know if there is a compatability issue? If we cant get Kies to download (and I called their support line and of course no-one answers) is there another way to get data onto the phone and external card? Will I need to buy some kind of adaptor so that I can connect the microsd card and just treat it as any external hard drive?

Sep 26, 2010I can't send or receive MMS on my new Galaxy S. I called Orange helpline and they talked me through set up - it worked for me to send one and receive one and then stopped working once I had switched the phone off (to recharge). The settings are still there although it will not let me select any other setting as there is only a green dot selection for one (there are three altogether - the manufactor one, one that was sent to me via SMS and a manual one). It is not possible to select any other one but settings on all three seem to be the same. When I receive one it just says 'downloading'. If you click on it it just tells you what sort of message it is and there are no other options. The problem is, if I type a really long text it converts to MMS which will then not send. So..I can't send or receive MMS's. Any suggestions?

Tried searching for information on this but didn't find anything.There seems to be some lag when transitioning from one app to another app or within the market app.Also when I download something from the market, the phone gets a lot slower.I'm sure Froyo will fix all of this.What is Samsung Kies? I'm in the US and can't access it.If there is anyway to get it,I will try it.AT&T 3G is working fine so far.However, the bars I get while indoors drop to only 2 and I have had 2 dropped calls already.Not Galaxy S fault, just plain old AT&T.Connected bluetooth to my car and got some disturbances.I need to try this a few more times before I call it an issue.Everything else works perfect.I don't know why everybody hates Touchwiz, I think it is better than Sense and close to stock 2.1 in performance.

The following message comes up on my phone regardless of which connection method I choose. "PC connection available only on idle screen. Close running applications". The only thing I have running that I know of is the "weather widget" which is part of beautiful widgets. Can I get a list of applications running on my phone somehow? Is there a way to turn the weather widget off? I am assumming that that is the problem.
