View 4 RepliesI have found that the Samsung App "Daily Briefing" is a real memory hog and since I don't really use it (now) - is there a way I can disable it? I have removed it from the main screen but it still shows up in Taskiller so somehow it is launching itself in the back.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the APN News widget in the daily briefing ? I want to change it to the BBC News but as this is our first smartphone I am not sure if this is possible or not?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAm I the only one who is using the Daily Briefing preprogramed app on the fascinate? I like it but have never been able to get any of the 3 to synch up, even when I changed their settings to every 30 minutes. If there is another app that gives the same stock, weather, and top national and world news that DOES synch, I would love to know.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUpgraded myself from a Spica to Galaxy S recently and absolutely loving it.
Quick Question - When I got the phone, it had a Clock/watch on it where the current weather was its background or dial. I think it was a widget of the daily brefing App.
I dragged it to the Trash can thinking that I will replace it later like all other Apps.
Can someone help me get it back on, I cant seem to be able to do so. Tried installing the daily briefing as a widget, but the watch dosent come back.
So ive searched but is there any way to turn off the 3g (data) without doing the whole *#info ish every time?

I only need the ringer on. I just want an easy way to turn off the notifications and alerts rather than having to open up the options every night.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought switch pri widget for the epic and please i was wondering how do you turn off the 3g data when u dont use internet it seems to be different for the epiuc than with other phone.

travelling to Europe from the UK and need to turn off all data for the duration of my stay (would cost me $17 per day at my current usage)
This is easily done with one setting on my iPhone, but I am unsure how to get the same done easily with my Galaxy S.I really need to make sure that all data is off in order that I don't come home to a monster bill!
Stop at the screen showing android!!!
what should I do? this phone is driving me crazy, it is used for one day
The 3G service where I live is utterly sh*te but the HSDPA is pretty good so as per the question in the thread title is there any way to do this? I don't want to use 2G networks tho.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhile using my phone, it just turned off. My battery was at about 50%. I have removed the battery and SD card for several minutes, put them back in and charged phone over night. The phone will not turn back on. While plugged in the screen flashed on and off a few times but just a plain white screen. The charger is works on other phones. The phone has not been wet or dropped.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi know there are problems with the GPS on this phone. I have read loads of posts and tried changing various settings but am pinning my hopes on Froyo fixing it or else i will seriously be looking at returning phone as not fit for purpose. I am sorry but i feel that having paid ?380 for something advertised as having GPS, maps, navigation etc that i should be able to have this in a usable fashion. I dont want to be told its a phone, sat nav is a bonus. It was advertised and sold as having sat nav and this should be workable. OK sorry rant over, just trying to head off some of the comments i am sure will be posted, anyway back to the problem.
when i start maps or navigation it shows a small radar looking icon in top left hand corner, indicating it is looking for satellites, yet at other times this does not appear and it shows "Searching for GPS" at bottom of screen. The manual states this icon means GPS activated. When it is not showing does this mean that the GPS has not turned on despite maps or Navigation being chosen. I can drive about for an hour with this message showing but navigation not starting. The strange thing is if i have map on the screen it will show my location moving yet still say searching for GPS, if thats the case then how can it update maps, how does it know where i am. I an really annoyed at the lack of this function (can you tell). Thanks for any insight into this.
what are the settings do you have to change in order to completely stop any data connection? I have an unlimited data plan so I don't care now that there is a lot of apps using my connection, but going overseas soon, the roaming charges are really expensive. I found some settings (like sync) that I can configure not to use data connection but I am not sure if these are all.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung Galaxy S 2 and I recently installed MIUI on my device. Didn't like it, so I flashed it back to the stock settings and now my Wifi isn't functioning. It will turn on and scan for networks for a few seconds, then turn off automatically.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI don't know what's wrong with my phone, but the screen display is messed up. Sometimes, the screen will display if I keep clicking the power button one-hundred times, but other than that it won't budge. Everything thing else works when I press the power button, the keyboard lights up, the home button and other buttons light, just not the screen. Like I said, I have to repeatedly press the power button so that in a slight chance, the screen might display.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen it was time for an upgrade i decided to go android with the galaxy s, and when i got it i loved it, but after 3 weeks its just stopped working, wont turn on, wont charg or anything. does anyone know why this might be the case and if theres anything i can do other than sending it back which i cant do at the moment as im out of the country.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought my new Samsung Galaxy S phone 3 weeks back. I am quite satisfied with it, but i have quite an irritating problem, my GPRS keeps on going back every now and then, like once every 2 minutes and then i have to turn the Flight mode on/off to bring it back. It might not be a problem in countries where 3G is available but here in India it's quite unsettling to see such a nuance in such a wonderful OS. I know it's not a problem with the carrier(Vodafone for me) as nokia phones work seamlessly in the same area.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAll incoming phone calls are being automatically answered. I went to Settings>Language and Input; however, I don't see the Voice CMD for Apps option. I also want to note that this is not voice activated answering - it is just auto answering. I am not using a headset and the option for auto answering with a headset is off.

Device: GT-S5830 Samsung Galaxy Ace
Problem: When pressing the power button to turn phone on, there is no samsung boot logo. the only thing that shows up is a black screen, [the backlight] it will stay that way until the battery dies.
i know it's not a problem with the display because i can get to the recovery screen by pressing the three buttons. i tried numerous wipes and factory resets, even tried to reboot from there. but it still wont boot up, it only ends up with that black screen. Also the green battery shows which further indicates that it's not a display problem.

That's basically all i know about this phone, i know it's a clone because on the hardware differences under the hood compared to the real S4. [it's probably a legend or a superking since it's from korea i think] im not sure which operating system it runs, from the looks of it i dont think it has one.
Some things i've tried: i downloaded android SDK, MTK droid tools, SP FLash tools, for some reason, i keep getting error 8200 in sp flash tools and mtk droid tools doesn't detect my phone. I tried flash updating firmware with adb sideload, it always ends up with an error ''aborted''. i can't enable usb debugging since the phone wont turn on.
